Part One: Skeletars and Dead Dragons

Okay, obviously I'm not going to explain much about how characters actually suck skeletons out of the ground and give them life...that seems a bit beyond my sciencing abilities. In fact this whole chapter is gonna be a bit difficult, but maybe I can answer a few of your questions anyway.

If you have reached the second book, ever notice how there are no dragon skeletons or rotting corpses ANYWHERE? I could just say a giant porcupine ate them all but let's try to be practical. Another theory could be that Argos and his rider slaved over dragging the bones for a hundred years (bones even bigger than Argos's) while trying to choke back the vile rising in their throats. But if that were the case, I would think that they would brag about it to Cody as soon as he reached them. Now I'm sure a lot of you aren't going to like this, but magic is the sole answer here that I find logical.

Dragons are magical creatures and the Hidden Mountain Pass is a magical place, and while there is a lot to be explained about dragon bodies, their souls are a magic marvel that can't be explained. Dragon bodies are intimately connected to their souls. When the bodies die, the souls go through a similar change; they fade from all existence, along with the bodies, so they can have complete body apparitions when they go to dragon heaven and truly soar among the clouds. And this is how it ties in with skeletars.

Ever notice there are no dragon skeletars? Like I said, their bodies and souls leave all material existence. Now the science behind skeletars, as best I can describe it, is that death magicians have very powerful earth magic attuned to bones. Piece by piece they can conjure bones from different parts of the planet and, using magic, piece each bit together while the bones are still underground. It's such a fast process that they don't even realize what they're doing. Than comes the hard part. At this point the necromancer just has a complete unliving skeleton beneath their feet...sooooo now what? Any earth magician with the right training could have gotten this far. But, as I stated later in the second book, death magicians can find one thing and turn it into something else.

Right now in the series, Cody's strongest magic is fire, so let's use that. He could channel fire through his mind to give fire itself the basic function of thought, then cast that fire into the skeleton, creating a completely functional soul. The creature then claws its way to the surface. In reality the bones are still a dead creature but this evil firesoul is now in possession of the body, using it so that it can successfully complete tasks its master and creator gives it, and so the skeletar can only be killed by destroying its soul....A very morbid theory I think, but an interesting and partially logical one nonetheless.

Why are there no human or dragon skeletars? We already covered that dragons have no bones to control, so that would never work, but why not humans? Purely for practical reasons. All Merikh wanted was a war-machine to murder and kill...if he had used a human, he would need to give it a weapon and even train it, while any other animal with teeth and claws is a natural killing machine. One could summon a human skeletar, but they're only useful for hard labor and only a sort of twisted necromancer would disturb the resting bodies for eternal war or work...then again a lot of necromancers are twisted....

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed my theories, and don't forget to give me new ideas for theories and ask me any questions you have!
