WiFi Allergies

WiFi Allergies

What the heck is this all about? Well, this became serious when a French court ruled that a woman was eligible for disability payments because of 'electromagnetic hypersensitivity'.

Wait, before you laugh, EHS is real disease, but it's a psychological disease instead of a physical one that's best treated with psychotherapy.

So, where's the conspiracy? That's easy. It's the fact that the power companies want you to believe that everything is okay. Because of the explosion of electromagnetic radiation from power lines, cell phone towers, and WiFi hot spots conspiracies have arisen concerning coverups as to the real dangers of these exposures to EMF. There has been an explosion in WiFi hot spots all over the world. Almost everyone has one in his or her home. Many malls, restaurants, libraries, motels, and you name it provides WiFi service. We're being constantly bombarded with this radiation.

So, the question is: does WiFi radiation cause medical or psychological problems?

It turns out that there are several opinions on this subject, which is sort of related to cell phone radiation causing brain cancer.

I found a YouTube video where a guy measures the amount of radiation coming out of his router with WiFi turned on and he gets a reading of up 10,000 microwatts per meter squared. This video was from EMF Safety Zone. One thing to keep in mind here is that routers run 24/7 so it's constant exposure, but only if you're up close to the device. Most people don't have them on their desks like the guy in the video did. The other thing to keep in mind is that children absorb more radiation than adults. So, don't put the router near a crib. Oh, and I would advise women not to hang their breasts over the router or for men to straddle it. Another thing to keep in mind is that WiFi radiation is not nearly as powerful as the microwave radiation you use to cook with. In other words, you're not going to cook your meal over a router. It's 100,000 less intense.

The World Heath Organization (WHO) has issued warning about WiFi radiation dangers, but scientists have not proven it to be a health hazard. I would suggest avoiding close contact with your modem and router. The further away the safer you are, and especially keep children away from any WiFi source. Otherwise, it's no big deal.
