Trump's Conspiracies

Trump's Conspiracies

Donald Trump, the Republican candidate for president of the United States has raised many conspiracy theories. Are any of them true?

The longest standing conspiracy theory is that President Obama was not a U.S. citizen ('birther' conspiracy) and therefore should not be president. Despite all of the rhetoric, he just recently stated that Obama is a U.S. citizen, thus putting this conspiracy to bed. This comes after he offered to donate $5 million to charity if he could get Obama's college records and his 'real' birth certificate. Trump also claimed that Obama spent $4 million in legal fees to conceal the truth. The fact is that no one has been able to prove that Obama isn't a citizen. His birth certificate from Hawaii was judged to be a fake by some people, but no official in Hawaii substantiated that claim. Obviously, Trump disclaimed this theory for political reasons.

The latest conspiracy theory is that Hilary Clinton started the 'birther movement'. There is absolutely no evidence of this.

Trump wants to build a wall across the border with Mexico and make them pay for it. He has raised the 'Rapist' conspiracy to justify it. He claims that Mexico has formulated a plot to send rapists and other criminal across the border. That's ridiculous!

Trump also has put forth the 'secret terrorist' theory that claims that all American Muslims are in fact terrorists. He repeatedly claims that foreign governments are fostering this 'Muslim rage' against America and that they are encouraging the terrorism here. He also claims that the Muslim officials in this country are hiding the terrorist. The fact is that Muslims have been in America for quite some time and have peacefully integrated into our society, unlike what's happening in Europe. We believe in freedom of religion here.

Then we have the 'Federal Reserve conspiracy'. He accuses Janet Yellen, the chairperson of the Fed, of deliberately helping Obama politically by keeping the interest rate low. The interest rate decision is based on economic conditions, not political reasons. That's why the Fed is independent of the Executive branch.

To answer the question: so far, Trump is batting zero.

A/N: I am not suggesting any preference for either candidate. As far as I'm concerned they're both flawed.
