The John Titor conspiracy

The John Titor conspiracy

If you've never heard of this before, I don't blame you. This is what I would call 'far out!' John Titor was supposedly a time traveler from 2026 that posted future information on several online forums during 2000 to 2001. Most of his predictions never came true, at least not yet:

That CERN Hadron collider would produce mini-black holes and that would lead to the discovery of time travel in 2001.

Civil war would break out after the 2004 presidential election. The United States would break up into five regions. The civil war would end in 2015 with a brief World War III.

The last Olympics would occur in 2004.

Most of the posts involved ideas of how a time machine would work. The predictions have failed, but the ideas about time travel could be interesting.

One of Titor's posts claimed that the time machine would be a stationary mass, temporal displacement unit powered by two top-spin, dual positive singularities, producing a 'standard off-set Tipler sinusoid. Ah! I've discussed this idea before.

A more detailed post claimed that the device contained: Two magnetic housing units for the dual micro singularities; An electron injection manifold to alter mass and gravity of the micro singularities; a cooling and X-ray venting system; gravity sensors, or a variable gravity lock; four main cesium clocks; there mane computer units. Sounds impressive!

Titor claims that he installed this device in the rear of the 1967 Chevy Corvette convertible and later moved it to a 1987 truck having four-wheel drive. He also claims that the many-worlds multiverse theory is correct and that every possible outcome occurs in separate universes. He also claims that the 'Grandfather paradox' is impossible. This is where you could go back in time and kill your grandfather. I've discussed this idea before.

Basically, this idea is not new. In fact, much of it is exposed in a science fiction novel by Pat Frank, called 'Alas, Babylon'. The Tipler cylinder machine is a possible theoretical concept for time travel. This Titor character (obviously not his real name) just borrowed it. There is a John Titor Foundation, but no one can determine who runs it. Whoever it is published a book: 'John Titor; A Time Traveler's Tale', in 2003. Someone tried to apply for a patent using Titor's theory and drawing. That wouldn't work because the idea was disclosed in the public domain.

All I can say about this is that it would make a good science fiction plot.

Thanks for reading.
