Skull and Bones

The Skull and Bones is another one of those secret societies and as such is suspected of having a sinister agenda like the Illuminati. In fact, some say that the society is a branch of the Illuminati and that they practice satanic rituals. It has also been suggested that they control the CIA and are promoting 'New World Order'. This is a common complaint about secret societies.

However, keep in mind that this organization was also called 'The Brotherhood of Death' and William H. Russell who traveled to Germany founded it. Supposedly, his family made its wealth in the Opium trade. Allegedly, when Russell was in Germany he befriended someone who belonged to the Illuminati. When he returned from Germany, he became incensed because of anti-Masonic rhetoric and that the Phi Beta Kappa honor society had been stripped of its secrecy so he founded the Skull and Bones as revenge.

The Skull and Bones society is at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. It's basically a secret fraternity owned by The Russell Trust Association (basically, the incorporated organization). No women were allowed. In fact, its membership was limited to white Protestant males until Yale became coeducational in 1967 and Skull and Bones changed its gender bias in 1992, but only after a lengthily legal fight with the alumni organization. It seems that those good old boys didn't want skirts in their exclusively male club.

The list of former members is filled with some prominent names, including former presidents, Supreme Court justices, Governors, etc.  It's a well-known fact that George W. Bush was a member. John Kerry was also a member. None of this is surprising because Yale has been and is an exclusive Ivy League institution, and you have to have the bucks to go there.
The problem with the conspiracy theories that have popped up about this organization is that there is no way to verify them. It's a secret society and the members are sworn to secrecy. My thought on this is that maybe when they first started they were more nefarious in nature, but I would think that in the modern era they would have calmed down to just a more elitist fraternal organization. As to a so-called New World Order conspiracy threat, I think that this is just a popular label that has been stuck onto many secret organizations, including the Masons. The idea that Masons are intertwined into our government from the very origin of it has been a overall theme of many conspiracy theories.

I think that Skull and Bones is just another elitist society for the wealthy to feel special because they have the money to do it.
