Seth Rich Conspiracy

Seth Rich Conspiracy

This is the latest conspiracy theory going around. Seth Rich is a 27-year-old Democratic National Committee staff person who was shot to death on July 10, 2016 near his Washington D.C. home. He supposedly was at a sports bar 1.6 miles from his apartment. The police listed the crime as botched robbery. He died in the hospital from two shots in the back. However, this didn't stop the conspiracy nuts from blowing it out into a full blown political assassination.

The main reason this became a conspiracy theory is because the police found Seth shot several times but his wallet and id were still on him. There were signs of a struggle. Both of his hands were bruised. Worse yet, there were no witnesses or any possible suspect in the crime.

Julian Assange, the WikiLeaks founder, said that Seth was a source for emails from the DNC committee's accounts concerning Clinton and her treatment of Bernie Sanders. The implication was that Clinton was involved in an attempt to keep Seth quiet. Supposedly, a leaked FBI report claimed that Seth was responsible for leaking 44, 000 DNC emails to WikiLeaks. Fox News jumped all over this and reported these false reports as being factual. They created it into a Clinton conspiracy.

Supposedly, there is a Twitter account offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to a conviction of Seth's murderer. Jack Burkman, a Republican lobbyist, has personally offered $100,000 reward for the same information. The theory was fanned by the fact that WikiLeaks also offered a reward for the conviction of Seth's murderer.

Rod Wheeler, a Fox News contributor, claimed that Seth was, in fact, leaking emails to WikiLeaks and that the authorities were covering it up. The Seth Rich family sent a cease and desist order to Wheeler. They are dismayed by all of the controversy surrounding Seth's murder. Both Newt Gingrich and Geraldo Rivera fanned the theory. Sean Hannity also kept the theory alive by reporting that a New Zealand resident, Kim Dotcom, claimed to have been in contact with Seth before his death. This Kim Dotcom is wanted for fraud in the Unites States.

This is just another case of the media jumping on a story without checking the authenticity of the sources. The strange thing about this case is that it happened last year, and all of a sudden it's being dragged back up, mostly because of Fox News regurgitating the conspiracy theories. However, Fox News has removed the false stories about Seth's murder.
There's no way to verify any of this. I think that the conspiracy theory doesn't fit the crime. If it were an assassination, why would they kill Seth, a small player in the political arena? The WikiLeaks report goes back to August 9, 2016 and now it has been reborn. I think this is crazy attempt to divert attention from other conspiracies.
