ADLER FINCH ━━ a firm believer in everything having a reason and knowing that there was a science behind everything that had a reason. It was all a formulaic process that kept the world from falling apart and tearing itself at the seams and having hell come up through the opening. It was the same as knowing why the sun rose and set at different points during the day while the moon would soon pass by to take its place to watch over the night. There was a reason why Adler got out of his bed every day, a reason why he did well in school, and a reason why people like Steve Harrington didn't hang out with him, despite his being pretty well known throughout Hawkins High. So it was safe to say that Adler was a man of reason.

    He was an analytical number in the system, a cog in the machine that kept life up and running. Cause and effect played a constant role throughout the entirety of his life and pushed him along when it came down to making decisions that would influence the rest of his days, dominoes that were carefully laid out with a precise distance between each of them so when his time did come, he would be able to knock them all over and see his life flash before his eyes one last time, knowing he did everything right with his time here on Earth and could pass on without the stress of wondering if he had left the stove on that one time he had made dinner. But when the one and only Steve Harrington stops by to throw a wrench in his plans just so he could help him figure out what was terrorizing Hawkins, Adler's reasoning goes awry and he's stumped for the first time in his life.

STEVE HARRINGTON ━━ a common biology that everyone knew and understood and that Adler seemed to know his way around, having studied him—and everyone else—from a distance. Steve had the chemical makeup of the well-known popular boy: the looks, the hair, and the asshole attitude every girl seemed to fall at his feet for, catching a whiff of some sort of midnight musk that clung to his polo in the process. A god amongst men and a king to the common people, Steve Harrington ruled Hawkins High with an iron fist. So when that aforementioned iron fist softens when he remembers and then goes to seek out Adler Finch to help him figure what the hell was going on in Hawkins, Indiana, Adler doesn't have a reason as to why Steve decided to do such a thing, seeing as it wasn't in his biology nor his chemical makeup for the king to ask assistance from one of the common people, let alone befriend him. That's when Steve realizes there's something different about Adler.

     He notices that his brain is wired differently than everyone else's, that it takes everything into account and calculates its every move in hopes for the perfect outcome. That's when he realizes Adler has a reason for everything—whether they were good or bad, he didn't know. He just knew that he had them. So when Steve comes to Adler for help, he notices he's stumped for the first time in his life, without reason. Steve's not sure if he should take that as a win or loss, having been able to keep the one cog that kept life's machine up and running and the earth from tearing itself apart at the seams and having hell come up from the center from working.

WHAT COMES OUT OF IT ━━ an unlikely friendship consisting of two people that held up the ends of several spectrums that gets less unlikely as time goes on and slowly turns into something that neither of them saw coming. It was a thing science wasn't able to explain and too complicated of a situation for reasoning to even begin to cover. All that they knew was that there wasn't a why or a how for the outcome of their situation, only a who and a monster terrorizing the small town that was Hawkins, Indiana.

listen. . .this fic is a surprise for you and me both
what started out as a concept my brain made up because
it wanted to see what ferris bueller/matthew broderick and steve harrington would look like together ( for some godforsaken reason ) has now turned into an actual fic ! i'm currently in the midst of planning it but i just wanted to get this little summary/blurb up before i went on with planning so excuse me if the summary sounds a wee bit shitty !
