Chapter 2
Dean's POV~
The new kids seemed cool and all, but I had to help out those vics.
I raced to the back of the school (cliché, I know) and looked around the corner. There were three vamps, crowded around two vics, giving the usual encouraging phrases. One was very particular:
"Give us your money and no one gets hurt!" The biggest vamp growled, and his minions punched their fists into the palms of their other hands. Ugh I hate dealing with these guys.
"Oi!" I yelled, stepping out. "Back off, vamps! I thought you didn't like being awake so early anyways."
"Dammit, Hunters are here. Run!" The head vamp said.
After they cleared out, I went over to the vics. It was two of the usual targets.
"C'mon, guys. How many times is this now? When are you gonna smarten up?" I lectured them. They gave the usual "We know"s, "sorry"s, and "thank you"s, and then they ran off.
Well, time to go report this to Bobby.
Castiel's POV~
After Dean ran off, spouting nonsense about "vamps" and "vics", Sam started to lead us towards the office.
"Um... excuse me for asking, but what was that about? What are vamps and vics?" I asked, and Gabe put down his game in order to hear the response. He must be curious like me.
"Well... the Principal will explain better, but vamps is short for vampires. Vics is short for victims. They're two of the resident groups in this school. You'd probably prefer to hear it from Uncle Bobby - I mean, the principal. Well, he has everyone call him Bobby anyways, but whatever." Said Sam.
"Um... then what's with the pentagram? And Dean's bag had that too and said Hunters on it..." I said.
"Dean and I are part of the group called the Hunters." Sam replied shortly.
"Um... why do all the group names sound foreboding...?" Gabriel chimed in, sounding nervous.
"Oh, not all of them do. There's a group called the Angels. But, a lot of the names are misleading. Like I said before, Bobby will explain." Sam said.
Well... I guess Bobby is the go-to guy. We spent the rest of the walk in silence. When we got to the office, we heard a woman yelling inside.
"Sorry, that's Aunt Ellen. She's the vice principal, and she also runs the bar slash restaurant The Roadhouse in town. She's got a bit of a temper." Sam explained.
He opened the door, and we were able to make out the words.
"...and you come in to run an entire school with a hangover?! The nerve..." Ellen, apparently, trailed off when she realized someone else was there. "Oh! Sam, are these the new kids? Thanks for bringing them here."
"No problem Ellen, they're the ones who asked." Sam replied as he tried to pry Gabe off his back. Gabe gave in and slid down to the ground.
"Hello, I'm Castiel and this is Gabriel." I said, and Gabe made a peace sign.
"Sup." He said simply.
"Well, Bobby's over there - he'll tell you everything you need to know. While you do that, I'll print out your schedules." Ellen said, and shooed us into another room without Sam.
"Oi, don't just stand there, boys! Gabriel and Castiel, right? Well, sit down!" A man sitting behind an extremely cluttered desk said. "I'm the principal, Bobby Singer. You can call me Bobby."
"Um, thanks." I said as I sat down next to Gabe.
"Well, I bet you boys're wonderin' what the heck is with this school, huh." Bobby started, and we nodded.
"There is no way this place is normal... I like it already!!" Gabe exclaimed.
"Good. Anyways, it's pretty different from other schools. We don't do notes or anything very often cuz it's all uploaded onto that fancy shmancy internet thingy. That's why you didn't need much." Bobby started.
Gabe and I nodded in recognition.
"Well, that covers the educational differences. In general, there's also not a lot of people in the school. Course, we got every kid in Lawrence, cuz there's no other towns for a few miles. So, no other schools. Which is why the majority of kids don't transfer out." Bobby continued.
"Um... why would kids transfer out?" I asked nervously.
"Why, cause of the gangs, of course. There's the Hunters, Vampires, Spirits, Demons, Leviathans, Angels, Werewolves, Witches, Djinn, and Victims."
"What." Gabe deadpanned.
"Keep you panties out of a twist, I'm gettin' there." Bobby snapped. "Essentially, the only good group is the Hunters. Angels and Demons could swing either way, depending on what's in their best interests. Spirits are usually harmless until you make 'em mad - they go from practically unnoticeable to murderous in a heartbeat. Vamps will get together and ambush one or two kids, take any money they've got. Essentially, they're thieves, but they'll hit up the same targets multiple times after the first time the person gives in. The werewolves, wolves for short, are pretty wacky, they love animals - hurt anyone who hurts one, hell they'll try to kill you if they can. They've all got specialized knifes that strap on like gloves, so they go off their fingers like claws. Pretty nasty. Witches are satanists, essentially, but they'll also try to sell you voodoo stuff and herbal remedies. Like with Spirits, don't make 'em mad. Djinn are the drug dealers - you let them, they'll get you hooked. They get a new tattoo every time they make a sale and get a new client. Now, Angels are the complicated ones. They are ridiculously religious, try to enforce the religion on you and reform the school by force. Demons will try to make a deal with you. You got something wrong, they offer to fix it for a price to be payed over time, if necessary. 'Course if ya don't pay up they get rough. Leviathans don't pop up a lot, they mostly stay underground, but when they do they're out for blood. They've tried to take over th' school a few times, but right now they're in a lull. Anyone who isn't in those groups 're either vics or hunters. Vics is short for Victims, and they're the victims of the different groups - they aren't in one of them, they're just, well, normal kids. The Hunters are the group who protect the vics. They're the only sure good group in the school. They fight off the other groups when they cause trouble, and help any vics who became targets. They report their workings back to me, and who from what group caused trouble when, which means I can hand out all the detentions I want. Course, I can't usually do anything about it 'till the groups get violent, but still." Bobby finished.
"Um... who leads the groups?" I asked, curious.
"Well, angels are lead by this kid called Michael, your big brother Lucifer bounces between the angels and the demons. Changes his mind every week or so. Demons are lead by this weirdo business-obsessed kid called Crowley. Victims don't have a leader, they're just kind of there. Hunters are lead by Dean, Sam's big brother, and Sam is his second in command. They've got a few techies that have a constant feed into the security cameras all over town. The cops sometimes go to them for info, cuz the instant something bad happens, they know. Although, they only deal with the gangs from the school, they'll still help the cops if they're asked. The other groups constantly change leadership. So, have fun with your first day of being vics. Unless you want to join a group. I recommend Hunters. See ya later, boys! Don't make the next time I see you be an investigation on why you're beat up." Bobby finished, and he shooed us out.
In the main room of the office, Sam and Ellen had been joined by Dean. He was filling out a piece of paper on a clipboard.
"...managed to chase them off. They seem to be targeting these two kids..." Dean trailed off when he saw us. "Hey, Cas, Gabe. Bobby explain everything to you?" We nodded.
"Dude, I'm gonna love it here!! Am I allowed to make my own group of pranksters?!" Gabe exclaimed.
"Um... no. Too much chaos. But, you can join the hunters, and we can probably work out a job for you. Dean, maybe he could prank the members of the gangs when they act out but Bobby can't get them for it?" Sam suggested.
"Yea... I can see that working." Dean mused, pausing in his scribbling.
"Cool! Prankster hitman!! Prankman!!" Gabe pulled out a lollipop and stuck it in his mouth. He's so fast at unwrapping them, you hardly notice he did.
"Well boys, here's your schedules." Ellen said, handing us some papers. "You've got the same classes as Sam and Dean, so you two can count on them to show you around."
"Thanks." Gabe and I chorused, and Dean put down the paper. I could read at the top, "Hunter Incident Report Form: Vampires". So that's how they tell Bobby.
We followed Sam and Dean out, and we eventually split up, so it was only me and Dean. This is gonna be a long day...
------------------------------------------------------
Well, that's the next chapter. Quite complicated groups, huh. See ya later, my fluffies!
