Contents of Each Scene

1st scene: Pantalone and La Signora are having a fight again, they've always been arguing about money, lands and stuff, but no one wants to listen to the other person. After the fight, La Signora hates her husband more and more, and decides to get a divorce. Pantalone regrets arguing with her, so he desperately tries to change her mind but she won't listen.

2nd scene: As a loyal servant, Pedrolino wants to bring his Masters back together, so he asks Brighella if there's a way to do so. Brighella tells him to buy a flower, and put it on a table in Pantalone's bedroom, so that when Pantalone sees it, he'll think his wife bought the flower in order to apologize him.

Pedrolino starts doing what he's told. While the Masters are not home, he secretly buys roses from a flower shop, puts them on the table next to Pantalone's bed, then leaves the room to do some work.

3rd scene: Ten minutes later, Brighella suddenly slinks into the bedroom. His left hand is holding an envelope, and without being noticed, he puts it next to the roses, then quietly slinks away.A few hours later, Pantalone comes home, he enters his bedroom, and notices the roses and the envelope. Meanwhile Pedrolino is working, and Brighella is watching their Master's reaction from another room. Pantalone holds the roses, sniffs them, then opens the envelope, and finds a letter inside. He reads it, and becomes completely excited. Pantalone then writes another letter, then runs into La Signora's room, and leaves his letter on her table, then gets out.

4th scene: Next day Pantalone discovers all the money in his security safe has gone. He calls his wife out to ask her if she took it, and she says no. Pantalon is astonished, terrified, and confused. La Signora then asks him why he asked her that question, and he reveals last night he gave her a letter which had the code to open his security safe, so that she could use his money at anytime. La Signora gets confused, and says she didn't receive any letters from him yesterday. Pantalone then tries to remind her why he did that. He says at first he found roses and a letter in his room which he believed were from his wife. Then he read the letter, and it said that she apologized for everything she'd done to him, and promised to get back together with him if he gave her the code to open his security safe. Having no doubts about it, he immediately did what she told him to do - he wrote the code in his letter, and left it in her bedroom. Pantalone discovered all his money had gone the following day, and he thought it was her who took it.La Signora says to him his story is all lies - she claims she went home quite late at night, and she didn't buy him roses, or write a letter to him, or even receive a letter from him. Pantalone then gives her the roses and the letter to help her remember, but she continues to deny that those were her gifts. Pantalone has a fight with La Signora, then realizes he's been fooled, and the one that's behind all this is definitely one of the servants, so he and his wife go to the servants' bedroom to talk to them.

5th scene: After being told about the loss of money, Pedrolino and Brighella are stunned, and say they don't know anything about it. Pantalone and La Signora get frustrated cause they believe their servants are lying to them, so they begin to search the room. A few seconds later, they find the second letter inside one of Pedrolino's suitcases.La Signora immediately slaps in Pedrolino's face, and Pantalone accuses him of stealing money. Pedrolino gets terrified, and claims he didn't do that, but none of the Masters believes his words as Brighella tries to put the blame on him. They force him to give their money back, and get out of the house. Pedrolino says he doesn't know where the money is to give it back to them because he didn't steal it. The Masters get angrier and angrier, they scold at him, and torture him, but still he won't give them any answers. Finally, the Masters decide to kick Pedrolino out of their house, then continue searching for the money.

6th scene: Pantalone and La Signora spend a day looking for their money but still can't find it. Night comes, they get so exhausted that they have to go to bed early. The story later reveals Brighella is the thief: After tucking the Masters in, Brighella goes to his room, takes the money out of a box that has a secret compartment, then leaves the house.
