Chapter 28- Aaannndd They're Back...
A/N Sorry about the picture, I saw this while I was looking for a pic for this chapter, and it cracked me up, because this is my view of Lobelia! Oh, and sorry for the heart attack last chapter, I wanted to play around with the idea of Risa and Kyoya having a fight. I used to get stress dreams, so I based it off that in a way.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was just supposed to be an ordinary day, but of course it couldn't stay that way, I just had to be kidnapped by those idiot girls... I'm sure you know who I'm talking about. They had me tied up in the corner of their club room while Haruhi was kneeling nervously besides me, trying to undo the knots before the girls came back, she was supposed to be changing into a Lobelia uniform, but we both decided that this was more important.
The morning had started with a knock on the door as Haruhi and I were getting ready to go to town for some groceries. Haruhi answered it and of course she invited those she-devils in, but when they told us that we were coming with them, whether or not we wanted to or not, I flipped out.
By the time they managed to get me under control, they all had several bruises and I had knocked the youngest one unconscious; which explains the bonds. They threw us in the car and took us to Lobelia, then told Haruhi to get changed, and that I would be allowed to change when they were there to make sure I didn't do anything.
"Where are our guests?" I heard one of them ask and I turned to Haruhi, who looked slightly panicked. I smiled at her and pulled her into a reassuring hug.
One of the attendants answered, "In the changing rooms of course." The curtain
"Oh dear Maiden I mean Haruhi, why haven't you changed into your uniform? I'm sure that you'll look simply divine." The middle one said and I snorted.
"Well, never mind that, now that we're here Risa can change into hers as well, we'll wait out here, please come out when you both are finished." Benibara said authoritatively.
After we had both finished changing, we walked out into the main room to be attacked by the Zuka club, who were all fawning over how adorable we were. "You look absolutely beautiful!" "Like you were pulled straight from the pages of a fairy tale." The younger two exclaimed and I couldn't help but give a soft smile at their exuberance.
Benibara jumped in, "Oh my dears, it appears that you were both destined for those uniforms; it is most befitting two innocent girls like you, still unfamiliar with young love's first tender kiss." I wanted to tell her my first real kiss was given to Kyoya a while ago, but I had a feeling that us not having our fist kisses was important, so I kept my mouth shut to see where this went.
They went on like this for a bit longer until Haruhi was fed up with them, "Will you just stop for a minute? Get off us! Now, why are we here? I'm slightly confused because one second, Risa and I are getting ready to go to the store, and the next, we're being shoved in a car!"
I nodded then added to Haruhi's thought, "Exactly, we deserve an explanation. Geez, you guys have about as much subtly as the Host club does." Haruhi nodded in agreement from besides me, but the Lobelia girls looked like we had just offended everything they believed in.
"How dare you compare us to those Neanderthals!" Benibara exclaimed, "We are more refined than those oafs in every way!" She took a deep breath, then continued, "Please forgive my outburst, I understand how shocking this must be for you both, we did, after all, whisk you away in your nightshirts."
Both Haruhi and I were offended by that last part, "Those weren't pajamas ya know. That just happens to be the way I usually dress." Haruhi said and I agreed.
"Does rudeness come with the territory when your rich?"
They totally ignored my comment and Benibara continued as though nothing had happened, "All theatrics aside maidens, we have a favor to ask of you. As you may know, one of the responsibilities of the Zuka club happens to be putting on regular performances of musical numbers and original plays."
The second oldest one, (I think she said her name was Suzuran?) continued, "Today is called Pink Carnation Day, and we celebrate the founder of the Zuka club by putting on the most glorious production of the entire year."
The youngest, (Hinagiku?) said, "Tragically, the lead actress for our play was in an accident and is currently in the hospital; and though this is a crippling blow, the show must go on, which means..."
They all combined to finish the phrase, "That this is your big opportunity to be a part of the theater!" They made a pose and smiled at us, obviously expecting us to agree joyfully, but I just cocked an eyebrow.
"No, not happening. You guys really are crazy." I turned to the door to leave, "Come on, Haruhi, let's get out of here before their idiocy infects us." She hesitantly followed me, but stopped as the girls made another plea.
"You would only have to memorize a small handful of lines, Haruhi; for most of the play, your character is silent. And Risa, you would simply be preforming a small song, easily memoizable and quick. If you wanted to, you could perform one or two other songs throughout the play, but that would be entirely up to you."
"What part of 'no' don't you get?" I asked, now I was getting really irritated, "We can see ourselves out, we would prefer for you to avoid contacting us in the future, just so you know." We had almost made it, when a wailing came from behind us.
"Oh, forgive me! I'll forever fall short of your legacy, you must be so ashamed, I'm sorry Mother!" I reluctantly turned around and saw Benibara on her knees, with the others surrounding her.
Suzuran and Hinagiku cried out together, "Benio, don't say things like that."
"So then, your Mother..." I heard Haruhi say, I could practically feel her crumbling.
"Benio's late Mother was a distinguished graduate of Saint Lobelia Academy, and a prominent member of the Zuka club." Suzuran began to explain, but then she was cut off by Hinagiku.
"That's right! To honor her, we celebrate Pink Carnation Day with the same flair for pageantry that made the woman's name so enormous with the Zuka club. Her whole life, Benio has dreamed of following in her Mother's footsteps."
Benibara cried out, "If today's performance is cancelled, then that dream will be dashed against the craggy shore's of fate!" I nearly rolled my eyes, normally a story like this would bring out the sympathy in me, but I could detect something fake about this, like it was all one big performance, so I just found it pitiful.
I was getting ready to leave, but when I looked to the side, I saw that Haruhi's eyes were filled with compassion, and she was taking small steps towards Benibara, "Oh, that sounds terrible." She said quietly.
"Haruhi, don't you dare." I murmured, but she sent me the saddest puppy dog eyes that I have ever seen (Darn Tamaki for teaching her that). I heaved a heavy sigh, "Fine, we can stay, there is no way I would leave you alone with these people." I said and walked back over to the group, resigned to my fate.
***
After several hours, I had finally finished learning the three songs that I would be playing in the play, and now I was just having to suffer through Haruhi's plywood acting style. Benibara was lying on the ground, pretending to die and talking to Marianne (Haruhi), "Oh Marianne, how many lonely nights have I prayed that we'd be together again, and how many times have the powers that be, demanded that we stay apart?"
"Oh, my Lord Frederick." Haruhi sounded like a robot, and that was what the last hour had been like. I knew that I had to play the final song in a little bit, but I couldn't stand the cheesy lines and poor acting, so I walked to the window to get away from the others. I stood there for a second before I looked down and saw the entire Host club and Ranka, excluding Kyoya, crouching beside the window, and listening in on everything.
I sat down casually and tested how cracked open the window, "Hey guys." I muttered quietly, "Are you enjoying the performance?" I saw all of their faces scrunch and I giggled a little. "Listen, I have to go and play, but just know that the Zuka club is up to something. They want us to be in a play, but I keep getting the feeling that they have ulterior motives, so watch out, okay?" I was getting signaled to go and start playing so I stood up without waiting for an answer and walked to the piano.
It was my job to play and sing this one, while Haruhi lip synched it, the song wasn't my favorite, but as Benibara promised, it was easy to learn and singing with it wasn't much worse. "Here, in this moment, I am losing nothing. Even if you leave me, I won't be alone. Because love has taught me that this life is still worth living and the skies above can't stop me." I had to suddenly stop when I saw Haruhi trip, and I was ready to restart when I saw a Benibara fan club member apprehend the Hosts outside and it took everything I had not to laugh.
We practiced for another hour before we were told to get into our costumes; two large bags were brought into the changing room, and when we opened them I really did bust up laughing at what Haruhi had to wear. It was a hot pink nightmare, a round marshmallow with bows and sparkles topping it off.
She glared at me as I struggled to control my laughs, "Oh shut up, I know that I have no one to blame but me."
"You're darn right about that!" I choked out then pulled out my dress, a bit nervous at what I would see. Thankfully, my dress wasn't the atrocity that Haruhi's was, it was a simple, floor length, green, chiffon sheath dress that had silver embroidery at the top and it was paired with silver, open-toed sandals.
"Now that's just not fair!" Haruhi exclaimed.
"Oh, really?" I said teasingly, "Well Marianne, I seem to recall someone being given the option to leave, so I believe this is a just compensation!" I continued chortling as we changed, but right before we left the changing room to get make-up on, I grabbed Haruhi's arm, "I know that I'll be getting more stage time than you, but please watch out. I feel like they are up to something and I really don't want you caught in the crossfire if they try to get back at the Host club. I hugged her tightly and she hugged me back.
"Same goes to you Risa-nii, no one wants to see you vulnerable again, be careful, and if anything happens, bail out like the building was on fire."
I smiled, "Oh please, of all the challenges I've faced, a bunch of immature girls is by far the least to worry about; I'll be fine!" They insisted we have our make-up put on separately because Haruhi was a main character, and I was just someone who would be in the background. They had a stand all set up that I would be on, so that everyone would be able to see me play, but I wouldn't draw any attention to myself.
I wouldn't be going on until intermission, so I sat backstage and cringed for a good thirty minutes at how clichéd and ridiculous this play was. At one point, I looked up into the technician's booth and to my shock, Kyoya was standing there with another Lady, they appeared to be discussing something important, and I could tell that he was doing his best to charm her.
Finally, it was my time to go on, so I calmly walked out onto the stage and played the first song of three I would be performing. As it always did when I had an audience, the time flew, and finally, it was time for the finale. I sat up straighter, and watched Benibara closely.
Towards the end, when she was supposed to be almost dead, she stood and led Haruhi to a platform, "Ah, and yet, the love I bare for you and the desire I have for revenge are not things which can be so easily forgotten." Now this was definitely off script, though none of the stage crew seemed to be too worried.
'Darn them, they set this whole thing up for revenge. If I could, I would strangle their scrawny little prejudiced necks!' I thought to myself angrily and started to stand to stop this farce of a play, but I was restrained by one of the stage hands.
He dragged me to a small door on the side of the platform that Haruhi and Benibara were on, which had risen quite considerably.
As I was pulled in, I heard Benibara proclaim, "And now I will steal your first kiss, right in front of your Father and all those pathetic hosts!" She leaned in and I heard Tamaki start to charge onstage to stop this, but he slipped on something like the klutz he was. "Victory is mine, now behold while we embrace!"
I heard gasps and strained to see what was going on, but sadly, I was in the platform and had no way of seeing anything.
"Isn't that picture from the party at the beginning of the year?" I heard Tamaki say and I laughed, despite the situation, Kyoya must have projected the picture that he showed me from the ball, when Tamaki pushed Haruhi into another girl, and their lips met. Take that Benibara! I mentally cheered, but then I heard a short scream.
"Haruhi?!" I yelled out, and struggled against my captor, "Haruhi, are you okay?" I heard her yell out my name, and I felt relieved, but I had no time to respond, as I was pulled through a hatch onto the platform.
"If I can't take revenge against the Host club by stealing Haruhi's first kiss, I'll just have to take yours instead!" I scoffed as she leaned in and she gave me a very confused look.
"You do realize that I have a boyfriend, right? You missed your chance for my first kiss by several months, so stop being all dramatic and let me go." I said derisively, "I suppose the most accurate thing to say in this circumstance is, you lose." I jerked out of her hands and walked to the edge of the platform, praying that there would be someone down there to catch me if I jumped.
"Hold on, maiden. Taking your first kiss isn't the only way I can hurt the Hosts, I'll simply have to take you with me, so come on, let's go." She grabbed at me again, but I was able to narrowly avoid her.
"Perhaps I should be more specific about when I said you lose, I mean that there is no possible way for you to get your revenge and walk out of here unharmed. I would do a full introduction if we had time, but I really don't want to spend more time with you than necessary, so I'll just give you a quick rundown. There is Mitzukuni Haninozuka, and Takashi Morinozuka, both world class martial artists, Tamaki Suoh, whose family holds a great amount of influence throughout the world, and I cannot forget to mention my boyfriend, Kyoya Ootori; his family is arguably the most influential in Japan, and they have an elite, private police force under their command."
If you really feel like you can win against them, then just know that I have experienced being held captive, and I am prepared to do whatever I need to, to make sure that that never happens again, so you would have a fight on your hands every step of the way. So, I'll ask you now Benibara, are you going to accept your loss, or will you hurt yourself by continuing to fight?"
While I was speaking, I noticed that her face had turned a pasty shade of white that I found rather alarming. Instead of answering me verbally, she turned around and jumped off the platform, leaving me with no other route of escape than jumping when someone offered to catch me.
I watched the pandemonium that was occurring below as Ranka chased Tamaki for allowing his daughter to be kissed, and the Benibara fan club chased everyone for ruining the show. I shook my head, perhaps I could stay up here after all. It certainly was quieter than on ground level
A/N Another one done! I want to thank everyone who has supported me throughout this, I wouldn't have gotten this far if it wasn't for you!
Also, I've been made aware that I have a few readers who have never seen OHSHC, nor do they watch anime, so I just want to explain that a good amount of the sickening, flowery language is not mine, I take it directly from the Anime. Thanks for reading!
