Five years.

        It has been five years since I have seen anyone other than Karma. FIVE FREEKING YEARS! I honestly didn't think I would be gone for so long when Karma was like, "Hey Kate why don't we take some time off from being superheroes and see if we can prevent the curse from happening to you?" I thought he was talking like a few months, maybe a year at most. By no, we have been gone for five years with no contact with anyone. My team must think I'm either dead or betrayed them. These past five years have been for nothing as well, we haven't found out how to stop the curse from happening, so it's basically my future to have someone close to me die. Was this Karma's plan all along? Separate me from everyone so maybe they won't get hurt? Over the five years we went for our little trip Nia broke Zeke and mother out from jail and they are still trying to find a way to bring me over to their side but nothing has worked so far considering it's impossible to find us when we're on the move constantly.
        We literally circled the globe from the North Pole to the South, finding nothing to solve our problem. I have changed over the years too, I may or may not have matured a bit and I grew too. Not much but hey I'm not complaining, everyone else has changed too from what I've overheard. Apparently, there is another Robin and Dick goes by Nightwing. Zatanna and Rocket joined the League and the young justice team has changed a bunch because they recruited a bunch of new members. To say I miss them would be an understatement, I miss them so much that right now I'm pissed at Karma for dragging me across the world literally. We finally find a teleporter and I straighten my uniform and hair, finally after so long I will get to see everyone, I hope not much has changed. I especially can't wait to see Aqualad, he must have changed so much too. To think my first kiss was stolen by him. Anyway, I walk into the cave feeling really nostalgic, looking around I see nothing has changed. In the middle of the room is Dick flipping a gut I have never seen before so he must be new around here. "Neptune's beard! You did it to me again. I don't care how many years you have trained as Robin and then Nightwing, one of these days you're mine chump," he says after hitting the floor with his fist.
        "Wow, Nightwing hey? Who came up with that?" I tease and they both turn to me and Dick stands there in shock and then tackles me in a hug. "Kate! You're back finally," he said as I hug back happy to see him as well. Superboy and Megan come back through the teleporters with some new recruits and Megan's face lights up when she spots me. "KATE!!" she squeals running over and literally tackling me to the ground. She gets up and the same dude that was sparing Nightwing goes to her, "welcome home angel fish," he says flirtatiously. My jaw drops as they kiss, Supermartian (Megan+Conner) was my favorite ship followed by Spitfire (Wally+Artemis). I turn and look at Conner who looks pissed right off. "Nice to see you again," he said through gritted teeth as he storms off to the showers, this was not a healthy relationship at all.
        "Blue beetle nice to meet you, anyway a shower sound like a plan, especially for you," he said taking his suit off and walking away leaving me with the green boy. But what I didn't know was he was turning away to hide the pink that was slowly crawling up his cheeks.
        "Beast boy," he smiles holding out his hand which I slowly back away from and head back to Dick who was talking with the new Robin.
        "Clay face is safely back in his Arkham cell," reports Robin.
        "Good work," says Dick cracking a rare smile.
        "I didn't do much I was just,-" he was cut off by an emergency alert from the Atom.
        "Emergency alert the United Nations headquarters is under attack," he says. Nightwing ends up sending in Batgirl and Supergirl. Man things sure have changed a lot, the team is totally different. We are no longer a squad of sidekicks fighting to prove ourselves. We are no longer a group of teens that was barely known by the outside world. Thing are never going to be the same, especially after I watch the news from G. Gordan. Man is he an extreme anchor man, and to be honest he's a bit paranoid. He's one of those guys you can just picture sitting in their living rooms in front of the TV wearing tin foil hats. If he were to ever find out that I am a Fang that might destroy the League considering that they let not only one but two assassins into their ranks. But I'm not even joking I think this anchor man has a screw loose. We all head to the Watch Tower to see what is going on. "Welcome back Karma and Kate," greets Batman as we walk over.
        "Good to be back whats going on?" asks Karma and one of the Green Laturns starts to explain.
        "The big guy is Lobo, he's and intergalactic bounty hunter extremely dangerous but not likely to return. The little guy however is another story, that's a Krolotean and Kroloteans always travel in packs," he finishes.
        "Meaning more of them are on Earth," says Batman and I shake my head, five years and aliens have already invaded.
        "I believe that my friend might have vital information on that point, some of you might have met Adam Strang of star labs. He is the scientist responsible for the Zeta tube technology that we use for teleportation," says Martian Manhunter and Conner speaks up. "I was wondering why a stranger was aloud on the top floor of the secret Watch Tower," he huffs bitterly. He is so miserable, is it because they broke up? "And he has a story to tell," explains Martian Manhunter bringing me out of my thoughts.
        "Um its a little involved, I wish I had visual aids of something," he says sheepishly. Martian Manhunter links us all to his head and the story begins. While working on some Zeta tubes he got teleported to this place called Rann. He met a scientist named Sardath and they finally found a way to communicate and Sardath told Adam how some of his technology was stolen. "It fits the Krolotean MO, their entire culture revolves around stolen tech. "Sardath detected transmissions between a single location on Rann and multiple on Earth. He was attempting to track them when he accidentally teleported me to Rann. He gave me this, it detects trace radiation and can pin point all the Kroloteans locations that have been beamed to Earth," he says and I'll admit all this was startling to get really nerdy, just typing all these names out is giving me a headache. (Sorry as I'm writing this a friend keeps texting me and its annoying me) I snap out of my little daze when they bring up the seven Leaguers and Karma's stupid face pops up on screen. I listen on, that five years ago is coming back now. All the Leaguers have watches on their head so going to Rann to stop the little alien things, what I'm too lazy to remember their names, so that leaves all none league members. "If you're going don't wear that shirt," Adam say to Superboy and Conner just glares at him like you're not my dad.
        "You know that thing about you not being Leaguers you four still have an open invitation, especially you Kate,-" Dick cut her off. "We know Z."
        "But we are,"
        "happy where we are," finishes Conner and everyone turns to look at me.
        "I'll think about it," I reply honestly, the League would be pretty cool to join. We get back to the mountain.
        "It's all hands on deck, the league and the team will hit all fifteen Krolotean zeta locations simultaneously, you're priorities are to destroy all zeta tubes or platforms and search for any humans the aliens may have abducted," starts Dick and then he assigns a bunch of people to squads. Lagoon boy protests about being in the squad with the weak gigs and I roll my eyes, "never ever think a mission is weak." I look over at Dick to see him talking to Robin and I could tell that he kind of sees himself in Robin. "Oh and Kate you will be in a two man squad with Perseus," he said. (sorry if I kind of skim through the rest of the chapter but my wrist is hurting really bad and I don't know why) I look at him and he gave me the chills. "Lucky me I get to team up with the Scarlet Phoenix right when she comes out of retirement," he gives a fake grin.
        "How do yo know me?" I ask trying to sound normal.
        "All your teammates talk about you and Karma a lot," he shrugs heading over to a motor cycle and tossing me a red helmet while he puts on blue on. "Are you coming?" he almost taunts.
        "Hell no," I say my wings coming out and I toss the helmet back. We go to our assigned point (anywhere you want) and radio in, "phoenix squad in position."
        "Rodger that, all squads and leaguers in position, its go time," he says and we walk into this abandoned toy factory. Of course I had to get in the squad where we to the creepiest place on Earth. We walk around, broken glass crunching under our feet as I light up my fist to look around. There were dolls missing limbs and eyes creeping me out, this is totally out of some horror movie. We walk towards the back where a weird door was opening slightly and then closing. I was going to blast it open when Perseus stops me. "I have this, lend me the bow of Sagittarius!" he says and a bow comes with a yellow arrow. Can he use the power of the zodiac? I ask myself as the door blows open. We walk down this long corridor and stop when we see a huge base full of hundreds of little aliens. "We have hit the mother load over here," I report but no one picks up on the other end. "We are being blocked," whispers Perseus as we sneak around the edge trying to see if there were any humans that have been captured.
        A flying device catches my attention and when it was going to spot us I kick it but sadly it went flying and hit one of the aliens on the head. I held my breath as we both hide behind a pillar and the alien hits one of the aliens around him and then they all look over in our direction and come to investigate. "This is all you fault," he whisper yells as they get closer.
        "I was trying to save us from being detected," I defend as alarms start going off everywhere.
        "I call upon the water of Aquarius," he yells sending a title wave that sweeps away a bunch of them. I was going to go high five him to see him gone. "WHAT THE HELL???!!!" I scream flying up to avoid the little aliens that were trying to either kill, capture or hurt me. "BLIZZARD HURRICANE!" I yell sending the place into chaos. This is a situation I really don't want to be in because my partner just left me alone with a bunch of aliens and there are way to many for me to take on alone. I glance over to see one of them talking in their language to another one over a TV and I also see Blue Beetle, Robin and Lagoon who were also getting mobbed. "I told that bastard to never think a mission is weak," I smile to myself when all the aliens all start randomly zeta tubing away. Before I can question anything Perseus decides to show up with a bunch of human hostages. "What the hell Perseus?" I ask as we stand in a circle.
        "You were a good distraction," he smiles as I punch him in the head, "hey that was meant as a compliment," he whines and I roll my eyes still pissed. Someone finally comes over the com, "GET OUT OF THERE NOW!" demands Batman frantically. Now I'm not that person to stand around a question it I just get the hell out. "Let's move now," I demand but one of the hostages holds my arm.
        "There was a little girl left behind," he says and I send them ahead with Perseus. This is cliche, just so cliche. I fly back and look around to find her just kind of standing in one spot. "Let's go," I say picking her up and she snakes her hands around my neck crying.
        "Phoenix," she sniffles and I start running. The blast hits as I run out the door but instead of falling forward a green bubble scoops me up and I look up to see everyone from the Justice League and the Young Justice team. "Looks like you had a party," says Dick as I just smile, to be honest I kinda missed all this action.
