Scarlett Richards has disguised herself as a man for almost as long as she can remember. The leader of a gang in 1875 South Carolina, she works hard to make sure that the new railroad doesn't take the land of citizens.

She lives a pretty happy life at the time, with a gang made up of a loving group of boys who have become her family. They are all successfully accomplishing their goals of slowing the progress of the railroad and saving homesteads in the South.

But little does Scarlett know, everything is about to change.
