14. Run Away
She took one last glance at her sister's apartment, jumped on her bike and drove off. She was more than ready to try to start over, deal with her issues, to just go away and fight her inner demons but most of all, live. She was given a second chance and she didn't intend to waste it.
She was dressed in her full black suit, had her platinum blonde wig and black mask on because she didn't want anyone recognizing her and asking for her to stay. She wouldn't know how to say no, so it was better this way. It made her feel free, more than ever; since no one could ever tell it was her under that mask.
She drove lost in her thoughts, not knowing exactly where she would go. She just let her instincts call the shots.
After a while, she noticed she was back in Central City, she felt like something was luring her back to her hometown. She knew she didn't want to visit her mom, she didn't want to put anyone else in more danger, at least until she could control things better. She kept driving until she noticed a nightclub from the distance.
Maybe that's what she needed. To let go for one night, dance, forget about her problems just for a while. She smiled while she parked her bike.
She could hear the loud music on, she started feeling the vibe and got inside, ignoring the hostess welcoming her. She didn't feel like talking.
The place wasn't that packed so she walked among people easily, going straight to the bar and ordering a drink.
- Cool mask – The bartender told her, but was totally ignored
She kept staring around, analyzing mentally each person she laid her eyes on.
"He is trying way too hard. That's a lame move. Boring and boring!" – She thought to herself, finishing her drink and letting some money on the counter.
She went to the dance floor and just closed her eyes, listening to the music taking over her mind and body. She smiled as she started to feel the beat. She loved to dance; it was a way to get lost in her own world. She opened her eyes just to find a pair of blue eyes staring at her from one of the tables. There was something different about the owner of those charming blue eyes but she couldn't tell what it was, so she just kept moving with the music, not taking her eyes from him one second.
He noticed the way she kept staring at him from far away and just stared back. He was actually amazed by that masked stranger that had great moves, just like a pro. He would know, he was a musical theater nerd who loved dancing but avoided showing other people. He had been there for a while, asking why on Earth he decided to listen to his best friend and came to a nightclub, something that wasn't his vibe at all. But now, he thought, now maybe it was a good thing he came. He was extremely curious to know who that blonde was, she had such great moves and he couldn't help but noticing she wouldn't take her eyes off of him. At least it looked like it. He had a small bottle on his hand with a weird looking blue liquid and drank it all at once. He smiled, feeling a bit better and just got up, walking towards the blonde that now he was sure that was staring deeply into his eyes. He got even more curious.
The music was so loud, it would be impossible for him to talk to anyone, so he just decided to keep walking until he was closer.
She kept smiling and dancing, not having a single care in the world. She noticed the guy approaching her, not saying a single word, unlike many other guys that tried to get her attention while she danced. She felt intrigued. She reached her hand to him and he took it. She pulled him closer and he started dancing with her, still not a word between them. She felt a sudden excitement running through her body. He was a really good dancer and she really liked that. She put a hand on his shoulder and could feel him holding her waist, moving his body in sync with hers. It felt like they knew each other for a long time and danced together always, their sync was astonishing and people around them started to stare in awe. She just smiled as he brought her closer to him, still not taking his eyes from hers. It felt like they were challenging each other to try to look away, but neither could.
When the song ended and another started to play, Sara brought he lips close to his ear so he could hear her with the loud music playing.
- I'm thirsty.
- One second – He whispered back and in just a few seconds, he was back with a glass of water.
She laughed and thanked him. He was definitely not like any other guy she had met before. Anyone else would try to get her really drunk, but this amazing dancer had brought her water. She drank it and thanked him once again, finding him really cute.
He saw his best friend dancing with some girl and giving him a thumbs up, completely drunk and just shook his head, laughing. He turned around and started to look for the masked blonde, until he looked up and saw her upstairs, with no jacket on, waving at him. He felt compelled to follow her, his curiosity was taking the best of him. So far they had exchanged two words, he had no idea who that woman was, and he was just sure she was a really talented dancer, sexy as hell and beautiful. And he felt weird because it was not like him at all just to go to a nightclub and hook up with strangers, but there was something about her that made him interested, wanting to know more. He decided he wouldn't rest until he got at least her name.
Once he got upstairs, there was another dance floor, this one playing slower music. There was a few couches on the corners some people chatting, others dancing, some people kissing in the corner. He followed his instincts and approached the masked blonde that had her back to him near the couch where she left her jacket on.
- Who are you? – He whispered near her ear, making sure she could listen to him.
She turned around, facing him and just smiled. She reached for his hand and brought him with her to slow dance. His hands traveled to her waist and held her strongly as they moved slowly together with the rhythm. She approached her lips to his ear, giving him chills.
- Let's just enjoy tonight – She stared at him, knowing he was dying to know more about her, but surprisingly, he didn't push it. She gave him a tiny smile, her hands resting on his shoulders.
The slow music changed and they kept following the rhythm, still in sync. She turned her back to him as they kept dancing, he couldn't stop himself from moving along with her. She turned to face him once again, still dancing, still staring deeply into his eyes. Her hands traveled down his chest, grabbing him by his shirt, bringing his body closer to her and suddenly the air felt thicker, the room started to feel steamy, it seemed to be no one else but them there. They both seemed to be lost into each other's gaze and suddenly, she couldn't hold back anymore. It felt like he felt the same way, because they moved together into each other, searching desperately for each other's lips. They kept slowly dancing as they kissed. She felt a whoosh of air and when she opened her eyes, they were on a quiet corner of the club, she felt a bit lost about how that happened, but she actually couldn't care, she needed him. She pushed him against the wall, kissing him back with passion, feeling his response kissing her with the same passion.
- I don't usually do this... I actually never do this – He told her between the kisses
- I believe you. – She said, noticing he stopped kissing her to stare into her eyes once again. – Is true, I do.
- I can feel you do. Something tells me anyways... I'm sorry but... Who are you? I don't think I've ever seen you around.
- Good – she said as she gave him one more kiss, playfully biting his lower lip. That made him kiss her again full of want
- Why are you so mysterious? – He brought his lips to her neck, giving it small kisses.
- Because... is fun – She said, deciding that was all he needed to know for now.
- Yes, it kind of is... - He kept kissing her neck, going back to her lips.
She felt that whoosh of air once again and as soon as she opened her eyes, she noticed they were inside a bathroom, alone. He grabbed her by the waist and lifted her. She sat on the counter, going back to kissing him.
- What's happening? – She asked between kisses
- What? – He said staring at her with a fun look in his eyes.
- It's the second time we moved fast to another place... How?
- That's not important. – He said. Well, two can play this game, he thought.
- Ok... I know what you're doing.
- Besides kissing you? I'm not doing anything else – He said approaching his lips to her ear, feeling the drink he had earlier encouraging him – Should I be doing anything else? – He said and his hands went to her back, under her corset. He was determined now to beat her at her own game.
- The door...
- What? – He smiled, noticing he was managing to drive her crazy, kissing down her neck. He was impressed at himself cause there's no way he would no anything like that ever, but his curiosity to know more about her was winning over any good sense he had.
- Someone can...come in
- Oh, so what? – No he felt even bolder. He was definitely shocking himself. But he needed to see if he could break her ice. All he wanted was a name.
She stared at him, trying to recompose herself but finding it way too hard to do it while he kept kissing her skin the way he was doing. She started it; she wasn't going to back down now. Something told her she shouldn't run like she always did the moment things started to heat up. She still wanted to enjoy one single night before going wherever she was heading to.
- Well, in this case... – She said as she reached for his shirt, taking it off and throwing it on the floor. She attacked his lips, taking him by surprise, feeling him kissing her back furiously.
- All I want to know is your name – He said between their kiss – What if I want to see you again?
She stopped kissing him and stared serious at him.
- I'm sorry, you won't.
- Why? – He stared confused at her.
She got back to her feet and gave him one more kiss. She felt the whoosh of air for the third time and opened her eyes fast, seeing they were at the rooftop of the club.
- Ok, how did you do it?
- I'll tell you if you tell me your name. – He said crossing his arms. He had his shirt back on and held her jacket on his hand, offering her.
- I can't.
- Why not? Is just a name.
- Because... - She took a deep breath and stared at him with sadness in her eyes. For the first time she was actually showing something deep and truth about her, even if it was against her will.
- Because? – He took a few steps closer to her and reached for her hands
- Because I can't get attached to anyone right now. I can't have people knowing me, because it could hurt them and I can't have that. I can't have one more person getting hurt because I can't control...
- What? Listen... - He said reaching for her chin, making her stare at him – I'm sure whatever it is, I can help you. Just tell me...
- You can't help me.
- Yes I can.
- How?
- Because I'm the Flash.
She stared at him for a while, trying to remember that name. She sure has heard it before. And suddenly it came to her.
- You're Barry Allen...
- Yes. And you are...
- Sara Lance. There... Happy?
- To finally know who that extremely talented and beautiful dancer who I was kissing tonight, a great kisser by the way, is? Yes. That you seem to be suffering and in pain and seemed to want to make it all go away for one night? No.
Sara stared at him, knowing for sure she was right about him. Yes he was a cute and sweet guy, who could really dance and that was also a speedster that happened to be friends with her ex.
- If you tell me what happened, I can try to help you and maybe I can ask you on a proper date... Cause to be honest; this – he pointed at the rooftop door – isn't exactly me...
- So what are you doing here?
- My friend annoyed the hell out of me to come party with him cause we work too much and he felt we barely had fun anymore... But this isn't my idea of fun. I would rather stay at home, watch a good musical... Maybe go to a nice restaurant, or see a cool movie...
- I'm glad you came today...
- Me too. – Barry smiled at her – I just told you my biggest secret, so you know you can trust me... I mean it.
They stared at each other. Sara grabbed her mask and took off, along with the wig.
- I died... And just came back to life. We have a friend in common...
- The Hood?
- Yes. Oliver.
- You are Black Canary sister, right?
- Yes. She was the one that brought me back to life... I mean, my body cause my soul was in hell, I guess...
- Wow... I wasn't expecting that at all... But what happened?
- Constantine helped bring my soul back. They used the Lazarus Pit in Nanda Parbat to bring me back and it comes with consequences. I started to feel this bloodlust, and it wouldn't go away unless I killed the person who killed me.
- And...I'm afraid of asking this, but who did this to you?
- Malcolm Merlyn used Thea, so now I feel like wanting to kill her but I actually don't want to. And it sucks. This feeling, this situation... I decided to go away so I wouldn't hurt anyone else. That's why I can't stay...or get attached...As much as I wanted to...badly – She said. – Thank you for the great night I had in...years. But I gotta go.
She turned around, ready to jump on her bike and disappear but Barry held her hand, stopping her.
- Wait... let me help you. I work with Star Labs, they have the best and smartest people there, I'm sure we can find something to help you... Just... Let me try, please.
- I don't want to risk hurting you, and taking your time...
- You won't hurt me. And I can help you. Just give it a try. I also really want to take you to a proper date – He smiled, as she let herself be brought closer to him – If you want to, of course.
- Don't make me regret this... And yes, I do.
Barry smiled, kissing her slowly this time, as he held her closer, his hands going straight to her back.
Sara had no idea if this would ever work, if she would ever be rid of that awful feeling, but she followed her gut once and it brought her here, so she was willing to give it a try.
She had nothing else to lose anyways.
