11. Surprise from the future PT 1

Chapter Summary: Prompts by WritersBlock039: 1 Got room for a third? How about one where Nora is actually Barry and Sara's daughter, and she's come back from the future to make sure her parents get together? (If you somehow add Kariver to this, too, that would be absolute gold.) 2 OK, I swear this is the last one (until the next one is posted, probably ) All of Team Flash are trying to make sense of Nora's arrival, who is being very shifty, when someone else arrives at the door. Barry is shocked to see Sara barely holding herself together and asking to talk to him - immediately. He's about to say no when he sees how devastated he is and lets her in. When they talk privately, Sara tells Barry what happened in StarCity - Oliver's arrest and her dad dying. They bond over what it feels like their last family member dies (Dinah Lance has been extremely scarce), and Sara apologizes to Barry for what she told him during "Invasion!" Barry brushes it off and tells her she understands now, and that's enough. When they go back out, Sara asks who Nora is, and she drops the bomb that she's their daughter. I just seem to like playing with ideas that involve Nora being Barry and Sara's daughter, apparently. – I put those 2 prompts together and changed Nora's name.

.

Barry blinked twice as he tried to check if that was really happening because it felt like a weird dream. His vision got blurred and he felt his heart beating fast inside his chest, his breath becoming erratic. Cisco, Joe and Caitlin looked worried at him, and he felt like saying something but nothing came out. They all heard a desperate knock on the door and Barry felt like coming out of his torpor. He blinked twice again and walked towards the door, opening and staring surprised as Sara Lance looked at him, trying to hide her tears.

- Sara? Is everything ok? – He asked but hugged her back as she threw herself in his arms, crying.

- No. – It was all that she could say. – I need to talk to you... To someone... I... I didn't even think, I just came straight here. Can we talk?

- Sure. – He said.

- I just... Can we talk outside? – Sara said as she noticed there was more people in the living room.

- Sure – He smiled at her and looked back at everyone else inside – I'll be right back, guys. – He said as he stepped outside with Sara and closed the door.

They were both sat on the front steps of Joe's home. Sara took a deep breath and tried to calm herself. She felt a million things happening inside of her, a mix of emotions and she felt like going nuts if she didn't talk to someone who would understand her.

- I got a call. From my... my sister's doppelganger.

- Oh... Black Siren.

- Do you know her? – She stared at Barry, incredulous. – No one bothered to tell me about her, by the way...

- I'm sorry. We just... When I met her, she was a villain. A criminal that we arrested. And then that Prometheus guy helped her escape and Oliver told me they gave him some headache. We just didn't want to make you guys suffer again, given the fact that she was not your Laurel... But Oliver told me she was making an effort and your dad was trying to help her...

- Yes, my dad... he... She called me because he was dying. – Sara said, trying to hold more of her tears back and failing miserably. – He died... and then Ollie got arrested right away.

- Oh... I didn't know about your dad... I'm sorry.

- Yes... And there was nothing his team or I could do about Ollie, and I had just lost my dad... I went back to work with the Legends just to hear Ollie almost got killed the day he was released; I went there with Dig to take him home. But then, all I've been hiding... I just couldn't hide anymore. Since Stein died I've been feeling like I need to be strong for my team, and that I can't mourn the people I love like everybody else. I just... I needed a break. And I was going to my mom's, when my legs brought me here...

- Hey... It's ok – Barry said as he hugged Sara. – You can count on me. The thing is... I know how is like to lose people you love, and having to be strong for your team. It can destroy us, if we're not careful. But when you need to talk, I'm here for you. I know it helps a lot. Like Kara says, we're all super friends, so I'm here for you, not just in the good times, but in the bad ones as well. And the weird ones, I hope...

Sara smiled at Barry as she let go of his hug, wiping the tears from her face with her hands. She stared at Barry, noticing there was something off with him.

- I was so caught up with my issues that I didn't notice you looked like you've seen a ghost when you opened the door. And now again... Is everything ok?

- I think so... I hope so – He smiled, not wanting to make her worry with anything else for now, she had a lot on her plate for now. – Hum... Can you stop by Star Labs later?

- Barry... Is everything ok? – She insisted.

- Yes, it is. I just need to show you something...

- Oh, ok. I need to help my mom with some stuff and then I'll meet you there later.

Barry got up and helped Sara. She gave him one last hug, feeling a bit relieved about finally letting it all out. Barry was really sweet and she knew he could understand her. She felt like she couldn't talk to Ollie right now, he was still dealing with all the trauma of being locked for so long in a maximum security prison. She also barely knew this new Laurel; she would need some time to get used to the idea of seeing her dead sister's doppelganger. She loved her team, but she needed someone else's perspective.

Sara was at her mom's later that night, thinking about everything that happened after just helping her solving a few things she needed help with. She felt a bit better after talking to Barry, it was like some heavy weight was taken off of her back and she couldn't feel more relieved. She was organizing one of her mom's drawers, when she found a picture of the Lance family together. Her mom, her dad, Laurel and she, and they were all hugging and smiling. She felt something heavy in her chest and tears started to wash her face once again. She sobbed hard, missing her sister and dad so much; she didn't know if she could handle it.

The TV was on and they were showing something was happening downtown with Vibe, Flash, Killer Frost and a weird guy. She didn't think twice and suited up, jumping on her bike and rushing there to help. It was the least she could do for Barry and his team. She didn't stop to think even once that the weird guy might be some meta she wouldn't stand a chance against.

Killer Frost was on the ground, hurt. Barry was on the other side of the street; lay down after he hit his back hard against the sidewalk. Cisco tried to use his powers against the weird guy, but he had some sort of dagger in his hand. Sara didn't think twice and ran towards him, stopping the guy from using his dagger on Cisco, using her Bo staff to hit the guy on his back. The guy stumbled and fell, looking angry at her. He got up and tried to attack her with his dagger, but nothing happened so she blocked him, holding his wrist and turning him around, almost chocking him.

- I don't know who the hell are you, but you'll leave my friends alone! – She said feeling really pissed.

- How... Who are you? – The guy said feeling a bit confused. – You're not a meta-human...

- No. I'm a former League of Assassins member and today's you lucky day. Because I'll just break your arm – She twisted his wrist once more with her other hand and the guy yelled in pain. – Don't you dare coming after them again, or I'll break other parts you'll never recover from.

The guy managed to free himself from Sara and was about to try to hit her, and when she was about to give him a high kick, she felt a whoosh of air around her. She lowered her leg and stared at the person standing between her and the weird guy. It was a girl, a speedster with light pink ray of light. The girl had brown hair in a ponytail and a white and light pink suit with a lighting bolt on her chest.

- You need to hear the White Canary and leave! And never come back! – The girl said throwing a lighting bolt at the guy, making him disappear from their sight in scare.

Caitlin and Cisco stared to get up and Sara went to check on Barry, helping him stand up. She stared confused at the girl.

- How do you know me?

- You're my mom... I will always know you... Just as I'll always know my dad – She pointed at Barry, smiling nervously.

Sara stared in shock at the girl and looked from her to Barry that just nodded with his head. She started seeing her vision blurry and the next thing she knew, she was falling. Barry moved fast, stopping her from hitting the floor.

Sara opened her eyes slowly. She noticed she was in a bed and tried to sit down.

- Hey, easy... - She heard Barry's voice and looked at him, still confused and feeling like her head would explode.

- Barry? What's going on? – She looked around, noticing she was in Star Labs. She looked back at Barry. – Who's that girl?

- She's... Dawn Lance Allen... She's...

- No, she can't be our daughter. How can she be our daughter? We never even... I mean... How? – She asked, feeling her head spinning again.

- Deep breaths... C'mon... - Barry said, as Sara tried to calm down. – I was just confused as you when you stopped by earlier...

- Oh my God, she was there... I... Why didn't you tell me this sooner?

- That's why I asked you to stop by later. I knew you needed some time... I didn't want to drop all of that on you right when you were not feeling well.

- I appreciate it. But please, tell me how this is possible?

Barry told Sara that at first he didn't believe her, but then she shared some stories that only Barry or Sara would know, but told him she couldn't tell him anything else or she could risk erasing herself from timeline, so he had to let things happen as they should.

- Apparently, at some point, we get married... That's all she told me.

- Oh... Ok... That's a lot to process... I need to talk to her.

Barry told her where Dawn was and Sara rushed there. She had to know more. She knew it was a risk to know too much about the future, she was always trying to fix the timeline and avoid big changes or accidents. But this... Her and Barry? That was something that took her by surprise.

She found Dawn alone in Cisco's lab. She walked in, not knowing what to say or how to approach her. Dawn turned around and stared nervously at her.

- Hi. – She said

- Hi... - Sara said, trying to be cool about it. – So... I'm your mom...

- Yes...

They stared at each other for a few seconds, in complete silence.

- Listen... I know is not safe knowing about the future... But... I just want to understand... What happened? What made you travel to the past?

- We just celebrated my 18th birthday. You told me you had something special to show me and you brought me to the Wave Rider...

- I'm still with Legends even married with a kid?

- I can't tell you much...

- I know... I'm just confused. – Sara said as she sat in a chair and Dawn sat next to her.

- You and dad keep saving the city, being heroes. But as a team, both of you. But sometimes you visit the Legends, sometimes they visit. You told me stories about the time you were their captain and I was dying to see the ship. You brought me there and it was so fascinating... Later that day, I went back there, I was curious to see how it worked; the team was out so there was just Gideon there. I told her you authorized me to be there. I was flying around with it, and something showed up out of nowhere, attacking the ship. I got desperate and ended up coming back here. I crashed the ship near dad's hangar, but I couldn't make it work again, so I came to ask dad for help when I saw him fighting to destroy a satellite. I helped him, because otherwise he would die and the rest, well... you stopped by the house just when I told him about it.

Sara kept staring at Dawn, absorbing all of that information. It was just so crazy, and unexpected, but something told her Dawn was telling her the truth. She also knew Barry wouldn't be fooled, so if he trusted her, it meant it was true. She decided she wouldn't go crazy thinking about how the hell did she and Barry ended up getting married, instead, she decided she would try to help Dawn along team Flash and maybe, take a memory pill afterwards, so she wouldn't be able to interfere in her future. She would definitely ask Barry and Team Flash to do the same. She approached Dawn and held her hand, smiling at her.

- I promise you we'll do whatever we can to help you go back to your time. This all is a lot to process... But I believe you.

- Mom... - Dawn said as he hugged Sara – I'm sorry.

- Is ok... And... maybe I need to get used to it...

- Oh, ok...

- C'mon. We have a lot of work to do.
