Chapter Five - The Provisional License Exams

As the Provisional License Exams began, all the UA classes defended themselves against the classes from the other schools. It didn't take long for all of Class 1-A to be split up by the other classes. Talia uses her magic powers to keep her attackers at bay. Despite her magic powers, Talia was outnumbered.

Talia: (I can't take them all by myself! I need to regroup!)

Talia looked around the arena in search of the Argonauts, but couldn't find anybody. She looks around while scoring points against the other students. She then saw Shoji being separated from Yaoyorozu and her group.

Talia: (Mezo!)

Talia focused her magic powers and used her powers to launch herself to where Shoji was. Shoji was caught off guard at how Talia was able to launch from such a far away position in such a short amount of time.

Talia: Mezo! Are you okay?!

Shoji: I'll be fine, Talia! We need some breathing room!

Without hesitation, Talia speaks an incantation that creates a protective barrier which shields Talia and Shoji from attack. Shoji was amazed at the powers Talia was displaying. At the stands, Ms Joke were in awe of Talia's powers while Pan and Aizawa were passive.

Ms Joke: Whoa. That's quite a Quirk that kid has!

Aizawa: That's not her Quirk. That's the...other abilities Pan spoke of before.

Pan: As you can see, Ms Joke, Talia is quite proficient in her magic abilities. Though she is young, there is much power in that young one.

Ms Joke continued to observe Talia as she and Shoji continued to gather points. Pan and Aizawa watched with interest.

Aizawa: Looks like your student is making an interesting impression on the other students.

Pan: There is more to Talia than meets the eye, my friend. I have no doubt Talia will become a truly splendid Pro Hero!

Back in the arena, Talia and Shoji continued to gather points from the other students. The two worked well together as a cohesive unit. Talia's Siren Quirk as well as her magic abilities complimented Shoji's Dupli-Arms Quirk as well as his immense strength. Pan watched this with a huge grin on his face.

Pan: (A very fine display, Talia!)

As the battle progressed, a loud explosion was heard in the distance. Talia and Shoji looked to see a burning building with people trapped inside.

Talia: By the Gods.....

Shoji: It's another part of the test!

Talia and Shoji rush to the burning building while avoiding the other students. Talia and Shoji along with various other students. At this point, the rescue portion of the Provisional License Exams had begun. Talia and Shoji worked together to help the people escape from the burning building. Soon enough, the Provisional License Exams was over. Most of Class 1-A had passed the exams with the exception of Todoroki and Bakugo. As the passing students were given their Hero Licenses, Talia looked upon her license with curiosity.

Talia: So this is a Hero License? Such an odd thing.

Pan: An odd thing for an odd custom. Nevertheless, I am proud of all of you.

Todoroki: But Bakugo and I failed.

Bakugo: Shut the fuck up, Icy Hot! That was a bullshit call and you know it!

Pan: Now now, young Bakugo. You and young Todoroki will get another shot at the Provisional License Exams fairly soon. It's only a matter of time.

Bakugo scoffed at Pan's words. As the class made their way back to the Dorms, Talia was meditating when a knock came at the door. When Talia answered the door, it was Shoji.

Talia: Hello, Mezo! What can I do for you?

Shoji: I never got a chance to properly thank you for your assistance at the Provisional License Exams. I don't think I would've made it far without your help.

Talia: There's no need to thank me, Mezo. I merely did was a Hero would do. It was the least I could do. It what's Pan raised me to do.

Shoji smiled at Talia's words. Despite the power she held in her, not once did Talia show any sign of arrogance. In Shoji's eyes, Talia truly had all the best aspects of a great Hero. Talia quickly noticed Shoji's silence.

Talia: Mezo? Is something wrong? You're being awfully quiet.

Shoji soon snapped out of his slight trance.

Shoji: Sorry about that. I was just.....lost in thought.

Talia: I wanted to ask you something Mezo.

Shoji: What is it?

Talia: Why do you wish to be a Hero?

Upon hearing that question, Shoji was taken aback by his. Shoji took a moment to reflect on himself as well as his goals and aspirations. It didn't take long for Shoji to come up with his answer.

Shoji: I guess I always wanted to help people. I don't know the exact reasons why, being a Hero just seemed natural to me.

Talia smiled at Shoji's answer. Shoji's answer seemed like something Pan would say. While it wasn't as nuanced as Pan's, it was the type of answer Pan would give. Talia smiled as she took a moment to process Shoji's answer.

Shoji: I'm sorry if it wasn't a clear answer.

Talia: It's quite all right, Mezo. I understand.

After that, the two departed on friendly terms for the night. After Talia took the time to meditate, Talia got in her bed and fell asleep. Talia had passed the Provisional License Exams and would soon continue her journey to becoming a Pro Hero.
