Act 6
As Disha walked into the exam hall, the weight of the missing charm still lingered, but Hoseok's message had given her a boost. She couldn't help but chuckle at the memory of Alice almost making her choke on her sandwich with a random joke just before they entered.
"Girl, focus!" Alice whispered with a grin, catching Disha lost in thought as they took their seats. "I can practically see the hearts floating above your head."
Disha rolled her eyes, blushing slightly. "Shut up, Alice. I'm just thinking about...um, psychology."
"Yeah, right," Alice snickered, raising an eyebrow knowingly. "Psychology, or a certain Korean heartthrob?"
Disha playfully nudged Alice. "Can it, will you? I've got an exam to ace."
As the exam began, Disha's mind shifted into gear. Her focus was sharp, and she moved through the questions with a sense of determination. But every now and then, her thoughts would drift back to Hoseok. The image of him drenched in sweat at the gym, looking effortlessly cool, popped into her head more than once.
Meanwhile, in Seoul, Hoseok was feeling pretty good about himself. His workout had gone great, and the fact that Disha had replied so quickly to his message made him feel closer to her, despite the distance.
"Time for a reward," Hoseok muttered to himself, grabbing his phone and heading to his favorite café. The barista greeted him with a warm smile, already preparing his usual order.
As he waited for his coffee, Hoseok couldn't help but think of Disha again. He imagined her serious expression as she tackled her exam, the way she chewed on her lip when she was deep in thought. His thoughts made him smile, but they also made him realize just how much he missed her.
"Maybe I should call her after her exam," he thought, taking a sip of his coffee. "Or...should I surprise her somehow?"
An idea sparked in his mind, and a mischievous grin spread across his face. He pulled out his phone again, this time searching for something special.
Back in India, Disha was wrapping up her exam, feeling surprisingly confident. She caught Alice glancing at her and couldn't resist a smirk. After all, she'd not only finished early but also felt good about it.
As they left the exam hall, Alice was practically buzzing with excitement. "You crushed it, didn't you? I can tell by that smug look!"
Disha laughed, her earlier stress now replaced with relief. "I think I did okay. But let's not jinx it."
"Okay, Miss Modesty," Alice teased. "Let's celebrate with ice cream! You can tell me all about the text you got this morning."
Disha blushed again, knowing she couldn't keep anything from Alice. "Fine, but you're buying."
As they sat down with their ice creams, Alice couldn't resist diving into the topic. "So, when are you going to admit that you're totally head over heels for this guy?"
Disha nearly choked on her spoon. "What?! I mean...we're just friends."
Alice gave her a look that screamed disbelief. "Oh, please. You light up like a Christmas tree every time he texts you."
Disha couldn't help but smile, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. "Okay, maybe I like him a little. But it's complicated, you know? He's all the way in Seoul, and I'm here."
Alice shrugged, unfazed. "So what? If it's meant to be, distance won't matter."
Just as Disha was about to respond, her phone buzzed again. It was a message from Hoseok: "Check your email."
Curious, Disha quickly opened her inbox and found an email from him. Attached was a short video clip. She clicked on it, and Hoseok's face appeared on the screen, looking adorable with his post-workout glow.
"Hey, Disha," he began, slightly out of breath. "I know you've been stressed about your exam, so I thought I'd send you a little something to cheer you up." He then proceeded to do a silly dance, complete with exaggerated moves and goofy faces, ending with him holding up a sign that said, "You're the best!"
Disha couldn't stop laughing, tears forming in her eyes from both the humor and the sweetness of the gesture.
Alice peered over, grinning. "See? Told you. That guy's a keeper."
Disha's heart fluttered as she rewatched the video. Maybe Alice was right. Maybe this long-distance thing wasn't so complicated after all.
She quickly replied to Hoseok, "You just made my day! Ice cream's on me when we meet."
Hoseok, seeing her message, felt a surge of joy. He might not be able to be there in person, but in that moment, it didn't matter. They were connected in a way that defied the miles between them.
Both Hoseok and Disha went to bed that night with a smile, their thoughts full of unspoken confessions and the undeniable bond that was growing stronger each day.
Distance doesn't matter
Time will only tell
My heart beats for you
You know that too well
Disha
