Act 19
Disha gritted her teeth as she stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Hoseok. The room was dimly lit, the shadows of their enemies circling them like vultures. Despite the tension, her sarcasm remained sharp as ever.
"So, this is it?" she muttered, eyes scanning the figures in front of them. "We're fighting a bunch of wannabe ninjas? I mean, where's the originality?"
Hoseok chuckled under his breath, even in the face of danger. "Leave it to you to roast people during a life-and-death situation."
"Someone has to keep things interesting," she shot back, her hand gripping the small knife she had managed to grab earlier. The truth about Hoseok's life, about the dark world he was tangled in, was finally out in the open—and it only made her more determined to stand by him.
The masked leader of the group, standing opposite them, stepped forward. "You think this is a joke? You're both in way over your heads."
Disha raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms. "Sweetie, I don't think. I know I'm out of your league. And frankly, your dramatic speeches are giving me secondhand embarrassment."
Hoseok, though tense, smirked at her bravado. She never backed down, no matter how dangerous things got. He glanced at her, his heart swelling with admiration—and something more.
"Ready?" he asked softly, his fingers brushing against hers as if asking for silent reassurance.
"Born ready," she replied, her eyes locking onto the enemy in front of them. "Let's show these clowns what we're made of."
The fight erupted like a storm, shadows darting across the room. Disha moved with surprising speed, dodging strikes and throwing in a kick whenever she could. Hoseok was right beside her, his movements swift and calculated. It was almost like a dance—both of them fighting in perfect sync, as if they had been partners their whole lives.
At one point, Disha managed to land a solid punch on one of the attackers, sending him stumbling back. She wiped her forehead dramatically, turning to Hoseok with a wink. "Did I mention I took self-defense classes? I think I just upgraded to 'ninja slayer.'"
Hoseok, fighting off another masked attacker, grinned. "Remind me never to get on your bad side."
The chaos of the fight started to swirl into a crescendo, and for a moment, it felt like they were outnumbered. Disha's breath came in ragged gasps, her muscles burning from the effort. But she wasn't going to back down—not now.
In the middle of the fray, Hoseok suddenly pulled her behind him, his arms shielding her from a blow she hadn't seen coming. "Disha!" His voice was full of concern, his eyes wide as he made sure she was okay.
She blinked in surprise, her heart skipping a beat. The closeness, the intensity of his gaze—it was like the whole world paused for a second.
"Why'd you do that?" she asked, her voice quieter now, caught off guard by his protectiveness.
Hoseok didn't hesitate. "Because I can't lose you. Not now, not ever."
The sincerity in his voice hit her like a tidal wave, and for a moment, she forgot they were in the middle of a battle. All she could see was him—this incredible man who had been living a double life, who had trusted her with his deepest secrets, and who was willing to protect her no matter what.
Disha swallowed hard, her sarcasm melting away for just a second. "You're an idiot, you know that?" she whispered. "But you're my idiot."
Hoseok's smile softened. "I can live with that."
They shared a brief, electric moment before the chaos around them pulled them back into reality. But something had shifted between them—something unspoken but undeniable.
As the last of the attackers retreated, beaten and bruised, Disha stood tall beside Hoseok, both of them breathing hard but victorious. The room was a mess, but the danger, for now, had passed.
"I think I'm done with surprises for the night," Disha muttered, rubbing the back of her neck.
Hoseok turned to her, his eyes still filled with concern. "Are you okay? I know this has been—"
She cut him off with a raised hand. "Don't. I'm fine. I'm always fine. But you?" She glanced at him, her expression softening. "You don't have to go through all of this alone anymore."
Hoseok's heart swelled, his chest tight with emotion. "Disha, I—"
But she wasn't done. "Look, I'm not good at sappy speeches, okay? But I like you. A lot. Maybe more than I should, considering all the crazy, but..." She trailed off, her eyes flickering with the vulnerability she rarely showed. "I'm not going anywhere."
Hoseok's throat tightened, his emotions threatening to spill over. He took a step closer, his hands gently cupping her face. "You don't know how much that means to me."
Disha smirked, but it was softer now. "Well, get used to it. You're stuck with me, doctor-slash-idol."
And then, without warning, Hoseok leaned down and kissed her—soft, sweet, and filled with everything he had been holding back for so long. It wasn't just a kiss of passion; it was a promise, a declaration that he was all in, no matter the chaos around them.
Disha melted into him, the world fading away as she kissed him back. She might have been sarcastic, stubborn, and guarded, but in this moment, with Hoseok's arms wrapped around her, she let herself be vulnerable.
When they finally pulled apart, Disha was the first to break the silence. "Well, that was—"
"Long overdue," Hoseok finished with a grin, his forehead resting against hers.
Disha chuckled softly. "You're still an idiot, though."
"And you're still the most amazing woman I've ever met," Hoseok whispered, his voice thick with emotion.
Before she could reply, a sudden noise came from the other side of the room—footsteps approaching. They both turned to see Hana standing in the doorway, her face unreadable.
"Looks like you survived," Hana said, crossing her arms. "But don't think this is over yet."
Disha rolled her eyes, stepping forward with newfound confidence. "Sweetie, this was just the warm-up. Bring it on."
Hoseok smirked, standing beside her. Whatever came next, they were ready to face it—together.
