Act 13

Disha had no idea how long she sat on her hotel bed, staring at the door where Hana had disappeared. It wasn't like her to get rattled by someone's cryptic warnings, especially when she was knee-deep in excitement about seeing Hoseok in person. But something about Hana's words had lodged itself in her mind, nagging at her like a pebble in her shoe.

Just be careful. You don't know everything.

"Well, Hana," Disha muttered under her breath, her fingers tapping on her phone, "if you think I'm the type to cower in the corner, you're sorely mistaken."

Disha fired off a quick text to Hoseok: Where are you? Let's talk.

He responded almost immediately: In my room, 12th floor. Come up when you're ready.

With a deep breath, Disha stood, grabbed her jacket, and headed for the elevator. As she rode up to Hoseok's floor, she rehearsed what she was going to say, a mix of curiosity, frustration, and something more—something that felt like protectiveness.

She knocked on Hoseok's door, and it opened almost instantly. There he was, in casual clothes that did nothing to hide his charisma. His smile was soft, but there was a shadow behind his eyes, as if he sensed the seriousness of the moment.

"Hey," he said, stepping aside to let her in. "You okay? You seemed off earlier."

Disha walked past him, taking in the room—a luxurious suite that screamed "idol" more than "doctor." She turned to face him, arms crossed, her gaze steady. "I ran into someone downstairs. A woman named Hana."

Hoseok's expression barely changed, but there was a flicker of recognition in his eyes. "Hana," he repeated, his voice careful. "What did she say?"

"Not much," Disha replied, her tone deceptively light. "Just some vague warnings about how I don't know everything. And how you've got secrets that could change everything. You know, the usual thriller movie nonsense."

Hoseok sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I was hoping this wouldn't come up like this."

Disha tilted her head, her tone shifting to playful sarcasm. "Well, here we are. The big reveal. Is this where you tell me you're actually a vampire? Or maybe you're a secret agent? Please, surprise me."

Hoseok couldn't help but smile at her sass, though the smile didn't quite reach his eyes. "I'm not a vampire or a secret agent. But there is something I haven't told you. Something I wanted to share in my own time."

Disha rolled her eyes, though her heart was beating a little faster. "Look, Hoseok, I'm not here to pressure you. But if you've got some deep, dark secret that involves ex-girlfriends with cryptic warnings, I'd like to know what I'm dealing with."

Hoseok met her gaze, his expression serious. "Alright, here it is. You know I'm a doctor—that's what brought me to this conference. But that's not the only reason I'm here in Seoul. I also have another life. One that's very public."

Disha raised an eyebrow, waiting for him to continue.

"I'm...a member of a K-pop group. A pretty well-known one, actually."

Disha blinked, her mind processing the information. "Wait, what? You're telling me you're not just a doctor, but a freaking K-pop idol? And you didn't think that was worth mentioning?"

Hoseok winced. "It's not exactly easy to bring up. 'Hey, by the way, I'm in one of the biggest boy bands in the world.' It tends to throw people off."

Disha stared at him, trying to reconcile the two images—the dedicated, passionate doctor she'd come to know, and the glitzy, larger-than-life idol she was only now meeting. Then she snorted, shaking her head. "You really are something else, Hoseok. I mean, talk about dual lives. What's next, you're secretly Batman?"

Hoseok laughed, the tension easing slightly. "No Batman, I promise. But I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. It's not something I like to lead with, especially when I'm trying to keep my private life...well, private."

Disha sighed, her irritation giving way to understanding. "Okay, fine. You're a K-pop idol. And I'm dating a K-pop idol. Got it. But you could have saved us both a lot of drama if you'd just been upfront about it."

"I know," Hoseok said softly, taking a step closer to her. "And I'm sorry, Disha. I just didn't want you to see me differently."

Disha scoffed, though there was a small smile on her lips. "You really think I'm that shallow? Come on, Hoseok. If I was here for the fame, I'd be all over social media right now, bragging about my superstar boyfriend. But I'm not, because that's not why I'm here."

Hoseok's gaze softened, and he reached out, taking her hand. "I know. And that's why I like you so much."

Disha smirked, squeezing his hand back. "Damn right. Now, let's talk about Hana. What's her deal? She seemed pretty bent on making me second-guess everything."

Hoseok's expression darkened slightly. "Hana...we worked together on a project about a year ago. She's a researcher, brilliant in her field, but things got complicated. We got close, but when the project ended, so did whatever we had. I didn't handle it well, and I think she's still upset about it."

Disha sighed, feeling a mix of relief and annoyance. "So, she's the jilted ex, trying to stir up trouble. Great."

Hoseok shook his head. "It's more than that. Hana's been through a lot, and I didn't exactly make things easier for her. I think she's trying to protect you in her own way, even if she's going about it the wrong way."

Disha pursed her lips, her mind working through everything. "Okay, I get it. But she needs to back off. I don't appreciate being dragged into drama that's not mine."

"I'll talk to her," Hoseok promised. "I don't want anything to come between us, Disha. I really care about you."

Disha's heart softened at his words, but she couldn't resist one last quip. "Good. Because if there's one thing I hate more than drama, it's secrets. So let's keep things honest from here on out, yeah?"

Hoseok smiled, pulling her into a hug. "Deal."

As Disha wrapped her arms around him, she couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. She'd handled the situation like a boss—no tears, no drama, just straight-up real talk. And as for Hana? Well, Disha had a feeling that if she showed up again, she'd be ready with another dose of savage honesty.

Because when it came to Jeon Hoseok, Disha was all in. And she wasn't about to let anyone or anything shake that. Not even a jilted ex with a grudge.

Author's Note:

Hey everyone! 🌟

First off, thank you so much for sticking with Disha and Hoseok's journey so far!

This chapter was a lot of fun to write because I wanted to dive deeper into Hoseok's double life and show how Disha handles the curveballs that come her way. We all know Disha's got a sharp tongue and a fearless attitude, so it was exciting to let her personality shine through, especially when dealing with secrets and surprises.

I also wanted to give a shoutout to the duality of Hoseok's character. Balancing the life of a doctor and a K-pop idol isn't easy, and I hope you enjoyed seeing more of that side of him. The tension between his two worlds and how it affects his relationship with Disha is something I'm excited to explore more in the upcoming chapters.

As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this chapter! What do you think of Hoseok's revelation? How do you feel about Hana's mysterious presence?

Drop a comment or reach out—I'm always up for a chat.

Stay tuned for more twists, turns, and, of course, Disha's signature sass.

Until next time!

        Happy reading! ✨
