Part 8

No one said anything, I guess they were waiting for me to speak, but I didn't want to. "Hehe... [Name]-cchi... Aominecchi... I'll see you guys around!" Kise-kun said quickly, as he scrambled towards the door. "Kise-kun! Wait! What about the photo-shoot? We can go together." I asked him, turning around slowly, but keeping my eyes off of Aomine-kun. "Oh... That. Yeah. It's rescheduled to next week. Beth-senpai has a cold. She tried calling you up last night but you didn't reply, so I called Aomi... I mean, I came to see how you were." With that much said, he skipped out happily. I lunged forward to grab his sleeve, except it slipped through my fingers. Unfortunately, it hadn't occurred to me that moving close to the door meant moving close to Aomine-kun. When realization sank in, I moved back quickly, looking anywhere but at him.

"Oi. Sorry." Came a quiet voice. I humphed, turning around to face the television, "Hey television-san, did you hear something?" It would've obviously worked better with an actual person around, but since there was no one except Aomine-kun and me, I had to make do with 'television-san'. What a sad existence.

"Tcche. Fine. [Name], I'm sorry." Came a stronger, but irritated voice. I sighed, nodding once to indicate that I accepted his apology. When I turned to face him, I made sure to have my angry face on, just to let him know that he would have to try harder.

"Burger? My treat." He asked, tentatively. I gave him a deadpan look, and he scratched the back of his head nervously. Honestly, it was nice to make people squirm. I suppressed my smirk and motioned for him to sit.

After a half an hour, I was back in the living room, staring disbelievingly at Aomine-kun's snoring form. I figured there would be no more golden opportunities like this one, and so I proceeded to kick him off my sofa.

*thump*

With a groan he sat up, looking at my triumphant expression with a murderous one of his own. Then his face surprisingly softened, "Still up for the burger?" I blinked, "Okaaay. Who are you and what have you done to Aomine-kun?" I asked him, laughing. He rolled his eyes and got up, "let's go."

On the way, I wondered why on earth I had forgiven the baka so many times. Usually, I would slowly drift away and finally I would make sure we were strangers. Of course there were a few exceptions. Like the time I punched one 'friend' of mine. But then again, that wasn't a very surprising occurrence. I hit Kise-kun almost everyday, and the days that I didn't, Kasamatsu-senpai would hit him for me. Okay, not for me, but the point was that Kise-kun got whacked. I shook my thoughts away when we reached the place. This time, I stayed away from the counter, merely not wanting myself to be seen with the glutton. It drew too many glances towards him, and I definitely didn't want to be laughed at. They wouldn't laugh at me, per se, but it would be embarrassing. A model not wanting to be noticed? Oh the irony.

He ordered a year's supply of food, and I went forward after him, ordering a salad. I did eat the occasional burger, but considering that I downed two boxes of ice-cream last evening... Yeah, I should probably lay off junk food for quite some time.

It was quiet. Surprisingly quiet. We would usually be bickering about something or the other. The silence stretched on what seemed like an hour, when finally I decided to break it. "Hey Aomi-" "Hey [Name]-" We started at the same time, and laughed at each other. The tension was finally broken. "You go on." "No. You go on." This seemed like the beginning of another session of bickering, except Aomine-kun got all authoritative, "I'll go first. Don't make me repeat whatever I say." I nodded, amusement coloring my words when I saw how serious he was, "Yes sir." "I'm serious, [Name]." "Well, yes. I can see that." "Tcche." I chortled, immediately schooling my face into an expressionless mask when he glared at me. I was sure the mask would slip soon, and that I'd burst out laughing at him. I wasn't sure why I was suddenly feeling all giddy. Maybe it was the cold drink I'd ordered. My mother always did tell me not to have cold drinks in the morning.

"Hey [Name]." I looked at him, "Go out with me."

The blank look I had tried to maintain slipped and I burst out laughing.

"Aomine-kun..." I burst into fits of laughter again.

"Seriously? Crazy guy!" I managed to wheeze out.

"Of course not!" I continued, completely missing Aomine-kun stiffening at those three words.

When I calmed down, he looked at me like I was an idiot, "So? Say it." "Say what?" "Baka! Say yes. Obviously. You like me, and I... like you." I blinked. "Wait. You were serious?" "Obviously!" "Aomine-kun, I never thought of you that way. We were just friends." "Friends?" He paused, "Friends... Are you f***ing kidding me?" I opened my mouth to say something consoling, but he pushed his chair aside and walked out. The chair clattered to the floor and I was left sitting there with a half-open mouth and an astonished expression.

This was way more embarrassing compared to Aomine-kun ordering food.
