Part 15

I was face down on my bed, my biology textbook in front of me, looking at the wall. I had an exam tomorrow, an important one and the last one. But I couldn't make myself concentrate. Rolling over, I held the textbook up, willing myself to read. After two minutes of staring at the book, it fell right on my face and I groaned. Keeping it aside, I curled my hands into fists and began having a silent tantrum, a tantrum involving me basically beating up my bed. I had to study and do well tomorrow, but I just couldn't concentrate!

Having exhausted myself with the tantrum, I got up to wash my face.

I will not call him up. I will not call him up. I will not call him up.

A week back, Aomine-kun had won a basketball match against Kaijo and proclaimed to his teammates, while on the corridor, that we were together and that I could never live without him for even a day. He had no clue that I was listening. I had gone to watch the match because it was Kaijo, of course there was no other reason. Nuh-uh. Nothing else.

I had hit him over the head with a book and scoffed at him. It led to a heated discussion and finally, a bet. The bet was that if I called him up or even met him once in the next one week, I would have to go on a date with him. Kise-kun butted in at that moment and went, "A proper date, Aominecchi! Not the usual Maji burger." He got hit in the face for that. Poor book. I supposed that since it was a bet, both parties had to have an equal stake. "Fine. If I win, Aomine-kun will be my slave for a month." I'll admit that it was immature of me, but I just couldn't think of anything else at that moment. Aomine-kun grinned at me, and I immediately knew what that perverted baka was thinking. "You'll be my slave, baka. Not the other way around." He shrugged and accepted.

It had been seven days. It was pure luck that I had exams going on, or it would have been harder. Oh who am I kidding? It was already hard. It wasn't because I couldn't live without him. I was and had always been an independent person. The reason it was tough was because I had no clue what was going on with Aomine-kun. Added to that was the fact that he had gone out with the other girl, the girl whose name shall not be mentioned. It might be that I had a big ego, but I was honestly a tad bit surprised that he hadn't caved in and called. It led to questions like, 'Has he moved on?', 'Did he get bored?' and so on.

Sometimes the amount of over-thinking we girls do is exhausting as hell.

I hit my head against my pillow, taking a small break to clear my mind. I did some yoga because it helped me concentrate. A fact I had learnt when I was trying to get back into my usual routine after my mother's death.

Thankfully, it worked. Kind of. And I got back to studying.

After four hours, I was all done. It was 2 a.m, I set my alarm at 6 a.m deciding to revise then, and forgo my usual morning yoga. I checked my messages and missed calls then, because I had kept my phone on silent.

Five missed call from Aomine-kun, I raised one of my eyebrows with what was possibly a smug expression.

Twenty messages from him, I raised both my eyebrows in surprise.

Had he forfeited? It was the eight day tomorrow. I checked the time at which he had called and messaged.

12:00 a.m.

"Oooooh." I said out loud, as I realized that the last day of the bet was over. 12 a.m today.

Tired, I just opened the last message to see if I could summarize.

Aomine-kun: I'm coming over.

My eyes widened. The text was sent an hour ago.

No, that couldn't be possible. Could it?

Shaking my head, I proceeded to get into bed. But I couldn't squash that niggling doubt, so I got up and walked to the door. Opening it, I poked my head out. Just in case.

My eyebrows scrunched up when I heard light snoring.

Looking toward my right, my eyes landed on a huddled figure right next to the door. "No way." I whispered, tip-toeing back in to get my phone. Smirking, I secretly clicked a pic of the figure. After my devious deed, I put the phone in my pocket. Nudging the huge guy with my hand, "Hey. Wake up." I muttered. I didn't want to wake anyone else up.

I shook him harder when he mumbled incoherently. "Oi." I whisper-shouted in his ear. Thankfully, he jerked awake, but the baka's head hit mine as he woke up. Cursing, I thwacked him across the face. "OI!" He yelled, but I put my palm on his mouth, "Shut up, you idiot. You'll wake the others up."

He shut up, and I removed my palm. "What are you doing here?" I asked, surprised. He rolled his eyes at me, "I'm here to see you. You didn't pick my calls, nor did you answer my texts." He said accusingly. "I was studyi-" "I know. I... I didn't want to disturb you." He said, looking away. I snorted at that, "From when did you start caring about disturbing me?" "Tche. Whatever. Are you letting me in or what?" "You're asking me? Who are you and what have you done with Aomine-kun?" "Tche. Baka."

And he got up and directly entered my flat. "H-Hey! What are you doing? I didn't say yes! Go back to your place!" He completely ignored me, so I followed him in, nagging at him continually in hopes that he would get irritated and leave.

After a few minutes, he stopped. I had just begun congratulating myself on annoying him, but then he turned suddenly and pulled me in for a kiss.

My eyes widened in surprise.

And I slowly closed my eyelids.

My resolve was weakening. And it weakened further as we slept, his hands around my stomach.

I was surprised that he hadn't commented on my Totoro jammies. But I suppose I spoke too soon.

"Nice jammies. Very attractive." He said, chucking gently and inadvertently making me squirm when his breath tickled my ear.

Smiling, I lost myself to sleep.

*Beep* *Beep*

*BANG*

I woke up suddenly because of the loud noise, looking around in alarm. Aomine-kun was sitting up, an annoyed look on his face. I peered around him to see what had happened, only to find a broken alarm clock. I swatted him on his arm, "You broke my alarm clock!" He looked over at me, "It woke me up." "That's the point of an alarm clock."

Making some tea, I began my morning revision, leaving Aomine-kun to sleep. Unfortunately for him, I study out loud, so he lumbered into the kitchen, "Oi. You have ear-buds?" I handed the box to him. He took a pair out, plugged his ears, gave me an irritated look and went back to sleep.

Shaking my head, I continued my revision.

When I was done, I kicked Aomine-kun off my bed, just for kicks. And proceeded to leave for school. He came along as I left, changing into his uniform at his place, which was on the way.

He came out with a bag that was probably empty, or maybe it had those magazines he loved, with Mai-chan's photos. I shrugged off the thought, mainly because I was way too happy this morning. I wasn't sure why I was happy though. I just was. I was even humming a tune.

Aomine-kun and I made our way to our respective schools, but we found a very excited Kise-kun at the point where we had to part ways.

"So, who won? I bet on [Name]-cchi." Began the enthusiastic blonde. I looked up at the model, "You bet on our bet?" He shrugged, waiting for an answer. "Neither of us." Said Aomine-kun. "Whaaat?" Whined Kise-kun. Aomine-kun and I shared a smile at Kise-kun's indignant response. It was a smile that meant everything and meant nothing at the same time. It meant everything to me, and I hoped that it did to Aomine-kun too. But it had no meaning in the logical sense, as in, the smile didn't have a reason. I suppose logic and reason don't come into picture when you like someone.

Just as we were about to wave goodbye, Kise-kun held Aomine-kun's bag, "Aominecchi! Tell me what happened! I know you two are hiding something from me!" "Oi! Baka! Let go of my bag!" "No! Tell me what the secret is! Then I'll let go." I laughed when they began tussling, opting to stand and watch the unfolding comedy.

Aomine-kun's bag promptly split open, and with a thump, books fell onto the ground. As I bent to pick them up, I noticed that they were magazines. How typical of Aomine-kun. However, my eyes widened in surprise as I noticed that they were the magazines I modeled for. Three of the magazines even had my pictures as their covers.

I didn't say anything. Picking them up, I gave the magazines to a very silent Aomine-kun. Kise-kun and Aomine-kun had stopped scuffling.

Looking up at the basketball player, I smirked, "Stalker."

I stuck my tongue out at him, dancing away from him because I expected him to tackle me again. But he didn't. He just stood there.

And I knew this was it.

I knew that I had led him on for long enough. He might wait longer, but it was unfair of me to make him wait.

It was either a yes or a no.
