Science Fiction Tied 1st Place Winner- kemorgan65

Shadow of the Past Trilogy-The Displaced- kemorgan65

Title: 4/5
-It's original. A bit long and a mouthful, though.
-It's interesting. Prompts curiosity, for sure.
-It definitely catches the eye. I'm a fan of series, so "trilogy" caught my interest!
-Seems to pertain to genre. Definite sci-fi vibe.
-Not sure if it corresponds with story yet. I feel like that unravels more later?

Description/blurb: 8/10
-Not vague, gives a definite idea of where we're starting. A bit confusing in parts, though.
-Yes, it made me want to read your book. Even if just to better understand the situation and the blurb itself!
-It seems to lead into the story. Feels like the story develops slower but it seems to match.

Cover: 5/5
-Definitely appealing. I love the colors!
-I was intrigued immediately. I love the allusion to space and time, and really intrigued by the woman--she has a Cleopatra vibe and it's really cool.
-So far, it seems to correspond with the story. Especially the woman, she totally matches the description of the girl Dan found.

Plot: 19/20
-I'd say it's moving at a "fitting" pace. Fast enough to intrigue, slow enough to get essential details.
-There's definitely a balance of narration and dialogue. And both are EXCELLENT, I have to say the dialogue is so fluid and natural, I'm seriously jealous.
-Every chapter gives information for the plot. I think some of it is too mysterious, but maybe we'll understand more later as things progress.

Characterization: 18/20
-Characters are SO 3D it's nuts. Super easy to picture even without physical descriptions (though you give those, too).
-They feel SUPER realistic. Dan was so normal I felt him right there, telling me his story.
-They portray emotions well. I would have wanted a bit more confusion with the voices Dan hears, more wonder about what the heck was going on!
-They certainly stick out. Unnamed girl instantly comes to mind, here, with her language, her complete difference from all others.
-I felt the characters popping into my head. Maybe some earlier descriptions of Dan would help.

Creativity/originality: 9.5/10
-Plot is SUPER original. I've never seen anything like it. I love the idea and thought behind it, though I did get confused a lot (nothing that stopped me from reading, though).
-Characters are full-bodied and easy to follow. And their voices are well-portrayed and they're all super likeable!

Spelling/Grammar: 14/15
-For the most part, proper grammar is used. A few typos, just a good proofread would fix those.
-It was easy to read, for sure. Just a handful of repetitions and quick typos, but nothing deterring.

Enjoyability: 5/5
-I was totally hooked. The preludes got me confused a bit, but the main chapters were fantastic.
-I DEFINITELY want to read more! I added it to my reading list for later and can't wait to dive back in.
Literary devices: 5/5
-You used proper literary devices. Nothing stood out as overused or wrongly employed.
-Your writing was so rich! Great vocabulary, good dialogues that felt real and natural. Really impressive.

Descriptions: 4.5/5
-The setting descriptions were actually perfect. Great visualization, for sure. The characters lacked a little (except for mystery girl) BUT you made up for that with their voices and presence.
-I visualized it all SO WELL. Even the vaguer moments in the house were easy to picture without a lot of detail.

OVERALL: I seriously feel underqualified to judge this, but it was an honor to do so. I really have nothing to add, just really looking forward to reading your work for pleasure, and not for NBR or awards :D

TOTAL 92/100
