Emotions of A Broken Heart by Rising-Queen
Judge:HillyWrites01

Title of poem: 5/5

'Emotions of a broken heart ' allows readers to guess the details of the entire book. The title leads readers to expect the flow of various emotions as though they were broken hearted. 'Are you fine? ' which is the first part of the book arouses a feeling of sadness from being uncertain about how the persona truly feels therefore I think the title fits the book perfectly.

Cover: 3/5

Taking every image in the cover separately, the cover is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes, with images of a bridge and sunset painting a picture of different kinds of emotions as the title suggests however I didn't award all the marks due to the absence of harmony in the full cover.

Mood/emotion/tone:9 /10

The mood depicts a feeling of anguish and despair, mostly. The persona seems lost and downcast in all the poems.

Voice (who is telling the poem): 4/5

The speaker's voice is clear and easily understandable so I had no difficulty grasping the concept of the book.

Subject (what is the subject, is it clear): 4/5

'Are you fine? ' and ' Lonely ' ,the first two parts of the book outline the subject, showing the mix of emotions running through the persona as they struggle to come to terms with all those feelings.

Poetic devices (metaphors etc): 810

The poet mostly made use of metaphors to convey the message behind each poem which I found beautiful.

The flow of the poem: 8/10

The constant flow of the poem made it enjoyable since there were no blocks.

Theme of the poem: 8/10

The theme was clear, concise and perfectly portrayed in the poems by the poet to match the title of the book without any confusion

Additional Feedback-

I'm truly grateful for your participation in The Sapphire Awards. You're a great poet and you're good at channelling emotions with words. I enjoyed reading 'Emotions of a broken heart ' especially 'Insecurities' because it's the reality most people face and the speaker showed that confidence in one's body could be hard but facing those insecurities make it better.

Feelstora by lemon0804

Judge: Unikwriter33

Title of poem: 3/5

I do like the title, but it's a little confusing only because I'd have to ask... what is it? Feelstora? There's nothing that indicates what it may be and that also leaves me not knowing what to expect nor even visualizaing/feeling what is pulling me into the book. I'm looking for something catchy, something that draws readers in and I can't see it.

Cover: 3/5

Same with the cover. It needs something that will catch the eye of readers with just a glance. Many people will look over a book due to the cover so you want to draw them in and the cover/blurb/title are the hitters that allows someone to decide.

Mood/emotion/tone: 9/10

The choice of words are very powerful in the first poem, but they fall short isolating only to a few that could understand them. This in terms I think dims the emotions and mood of that said one, but as I read on, the poetry got lighter and more easier to which I can see a reader being able to relate to it. I give the poetry its respect for being beautiful in the vocabulary department. The book as a whole has its own taste and flair, each poem forcing the reader to see back and go 'hmm' as they think about what's happening. This kind of poetry allows people to compile their own meanings.

Voice (who is telling the poem): 4/5

It is clear that someone is speaking from the point of view of an airy quiet place as they type these. Each poem has a voice, and they are reaching out to individuals that share that voice. Each poem is strategically put forth to relate to those that understand it and if there isn't one here then there may be one further into the reading. This allows readers to pick out their favorites which is always nice. The term collection at its finest.

Subject (what is the subject, is it clear): 4/5

To my understanding it is clear. The subjects speak about a person who is writing with so many points in life. Whether it be about mother, a friend, a family member, a flower, or a season. It speaks of the energy throughout life and I can only imagine how that energy has impacted the author on another level because even the smallest things have a poem. Speaks of the content within the mind and spirit.

Poetic devices (metaphors etc): 9.5/10

Rhyming was strong and there are many uses of poetic devices. I enjoyed the different kinds and the metaphors could be easily pictured.

The flow of the poem: 7/10

I give the flow of the poems as a whole a seven, only because I found some spelling errors and some words were spelled so differently I had to go look them up just in case they had existed or maybe they were typed in another language, but then I realized that it was just errors.

Theme of the poem:9 /10

The theme of the poems are pretty solid, and they stuck rendering each poem the undertone it was given.

Additional Feedback- Feelstora is a lovely collection of poems, each one with its own voice and each one could be related to by different walks of life. The only thing I'd suggest is to work on the cover just a little bit and maybe in the blurb describe what Feelstora means or what it means to you, this will open the book up for the reader to get what it is that you're saying as you're saying 'Give my book a try.'

Bithing Beauty by poemsbyjojo

Judge: KeaniCupido

Title of poem: 5/5

An instant 5/5 from me! This title is amazingly unique and it really gives the reader an idea of what type of poems to expect. It also paints a perfect picture of the mood and atmosphere of its contents.

Cover: 5/5

Full marks here from me as well. The cover is just as unique as the title of the poem. It's elegant and has the abstract vibe that the poems portray as well. Very well chosen.

Mood/emotion/tone: 10/10

. In all sincerity, the mood and emotion were portrayed very well and I could connect to the words so much. Not just because of my own tough experiences in life, but also because of the way the poet describes her emotions and the dark mood of the atmosphere. I particularly liked the mood and atmosphere in the poem "Slowly Dying" There you will find an intense description of her darkest moments.

Voice (who is telling the poem): 5/5

It is clear that she herself is the voice of all the poems, and it was a good choice to write them in first person so that we could dive deeper into her thoughts and the experiences she's had. It also makes it easier for the readers to relate to what's being written/shared.

Subject (what is the subject, is it clear): 4 / 5

It is not always clear what the subject is, however we can already see who/what the poet is referring to by diving into her words. Sometimes it may be illness which is the subject, other times it's directed toward someone who is not made known to us. That in itself is the only fault I found but to be honest I loved how vague it was at times because we can understand that the person who she refers to in the poem Antidote isn't of much importance, but rather her trials and her state of panic.

Poetic devices (metaphors etc): 10/10

It is never a trait of mine to give full marks for literary devices, but this is an exception! Throughout the poems I have read, including the foreword, it was clear of the abundance of poetic devices such as metaphors etc. that were used in her writing. So many descriptions that tied in very well to the pieces and that stayed true to the mood and theme of the title and cover of the book.

The flow of the poem: 5/5

All her poems read pretty easily and they flow very nicely as well

Theme of the poem: 5/5

For me, the themes were apparent from the get go. The title helped us with that too. There are dark themes such as death, fear and anxiety, illness which we all know about, but also joy in some of the works and hope which I found to be very powerful in her darker poems!

Additional Feedback- An amazing poetry book which I recommend everyone to read. I found myself tearing up for some of them, which says a lot about the power that her words project. A darker piece of literature, yet honest in that we see that not everyone is immune to the world's trials. I appreciated how she also made it real and extremely relatable, and that towards the end of the fifth poem, there is always a new day. The sun rises tomorrow and then it sets again, and we always have that hope of a new day.
