"Well then boys, I got a story to tell." Sam announced then sat down where Big Glasses sat when he was telling his story. "When I was three, I was gave up to adoption for some reason. The place where orphans were kept was horrible, I wanted to run away. And I did. Of course I was being searched for but I never got caught, thank god, but ever since then, I have been living right outside The Valley dump." Sam sighed as she thought about where she lived everyday.
"I wear the same clothes everyday because duh, I live on the streets, so my clothes are really old because since I've had them since I was ten. And the shoes also, the laces are split and it has many holes. Oh, and I almost forgot! My hair is regularly curly, but there is this family that welcomes me anytime." She smiled slightly, she loved that family.
"The mother does my hair sometimes and I go there everyday to shower and sometimes wash my clothes. So, you guys think you got it rough, having to live here trying not to bump into The Beast when I'm living on the streets. I'm just lucky a family is nice enough to welcome me into their home." Sam finished with her arms crossed.
"Wow..." Everyone gaped.
"I'm sorry. I-I didn't know." Red Head apologized.
"It's fine erm.." Sam trailed off. She didn't know their names, she just stuck to the nicknames she gave them.
"Hamilton, but the boys call me Ham."
"Wait. Why don't we all introduce ourselves?" Benny suggested. Everyone nodded, agreeing.
"I'm Mike. Call me Squints." Big Glasses said first.
"Timmy." The blonde boy said next.
"Tommy." The smaller similar boy said after.
"Alan. Call me Yeah-Yeah." The Yeah kid said.
"Bertram." The boy with small round glasses, waved.
"Kenny. Call me DeNunez." The pitcher said.
"Benjamin. Call me Benny." Benny finished with a smile.
He had a really nice smile. Sam thought he was cute, his tan skin, his smile, his voice, his love for baseball, everything about him was attractive to her. Butterflies started to erupt in Sam's stomach as Benny kept staring at her with that smile.
I think I'm growing a crush, Sam thought.
"Anyway, The Beast it still real. Sam, stick your head out that window and look down." Squints points to the window behind me.
Sam did, and the empty backyard was still empty but only steam was coming out of what looked like a dog house. Growls and the rattling of chains were heard.
"He's down there!" Scott whispered, making Sam jump and fall backwards. She closed her eyes, waiting for her head and back to hit the ground. But she didn't. She slowly opened her eyes and was met with hazel green ones.
She scrambled back up to see that it was Benny that caught her. She smiled shyly as her cheeks got warm.
"You bet he is." Squints whispered.
"Whatever goes over that fence..stays there." Ham exhaled.
"It becomes property of The Beast forever. " Squints kept going.
"Sure.." Sam rolled her eyes.

"What are ya' doing Benny?" Yeah-Yeah asked. Benny sighed happily as he kept twirling Sam's soft blonde hair between his fingers. He was laying on the floor, with Sam's body on top of his and her head on his chest with his left arm over her waist.
"Just let him have his moment!" DeNunez shushed. "You know he always wanted to be close to the Mystery Girl and get to know her! Like he did yesterday and how he's doing now!"
Sam suddenly started to stir, then she started hitting Benny's chest.

The pillow that was laying under Sam's head suddenly felt hard to her so she slapped her hand on it a few times. Then her hand curled into a fist and soon enough, she was punching the pillow. When the pillow still stayed the same, Sam gave up and turned her head, trying to find a comfortable position. She whined in annoyance and opened her eyes when she couldn't find it and go back to sleep. Snickers were heard around her.
"What?" Sam groaned. She lifted her head up and looked around before realizing that she was in the treehouse. She looked down and saw a clothed chest. Her eyes trailed up until she met hazel green eyes.
The eyes were like a honey hazel and had green around the black pupil.
Sam realized who's eyes it was; Benny.
"I'm so sorry." She rolled off of him and scrambled off. "I didn't know I slept on you. I bet I'm heavy—"
"You weren't," Benny smiled. Sam started getting butterflies again. "Don't worry about it."
Sam smiled back, shyly.

"Come on, give it to me." Yeah-Yeah said.
"No, I wanna carry it." Squints whined. They had just stepped out of the drug store with Squints carrying the new baseball they bought.
"Come on. I paid for it."
"I wanna carry it—oh. Woah!" Squints suddenly gaped.
"Give it to me."
"Jeez Louise."
"What's the matter?" Yeah-Yeah asked.
"Jeez." Squints took off his glasses and wiped them on his shirt. He then placed them on his face again.
"Wendy Peffercorn. Mmm." He muttered. A blonde woman was walking his way with a green and white checkered dress. That was Wendy Peffercorn. The most beautiful woman in The Valley, well, to Squints. He had a crush on her since he first laid eyes on her.
Wendy finally reached where Yeah-Yeah and Squints were, and she turned to walk the on street. She caught Squints staring at her, but instead of turning away, she smiled at me him. He returned a smile, a toothy grin. She turned away and kept walking, her straight blonde hair bouncing.
"Come on, let's go. We gotta get—"
"No!" Squints removed his arm from Yeah-Yeah's grip.
"We gotta get to the sandlot. Let's go."
Moments later, they arrived at The Sandlot and stumbled into the dugout.
"Where you guys been? We've been waiting here forever already." Benny stated.
"Aw, Squints was pervin' a dish." Yeah-Yeah handed Benny the ball.
"Shut up. I wasn't." Squints snapped.

"Yeah, yeah, you were!" Yeah-Yeah teased. "Your tongue was hangin' out of your head, and you was swoonin'. Oh, Wendy Peffercorn, my darling lover girl!"
"I said shut up! I've got a lot of things on my mind!" Squints defended.
"Yeah, yeah, like Wendy Peffercorn. At least you wasn't swoonin' like Benny swoons over Sam. He's way worse!"
"No I'm not!" Benny's cheeks get way hotter than what the sun made them.
"You sure! You're blushing!" Yeah-Yeah pinched Benny's cheeks but Benny slapped his hands away.
"Hey guys!" A voice chirped behind Benny. He turned around and Sam came into view. After she woke up, she went to the family she always visited. Her hair was curly but put up into a ponytail. She still had the same clothes on as always, her flannel resting on her hips.

"Hey." They all muttered.
"Is sure is hot today, huh?"
"Mhm."
"Hey Sam!" Squints called. He had been examining her face from ever since they first met and he now realized something. "Do you know your last name?"
"Not really. I think it was Peffer-something." Sam answered.
"Was your last name Peffercorn?"
"I think it was. Why?"
"You look a lot like Wendy Peffercorn." Who is that? Sam thought.
