"It's 4:15 man, we should just leave. They obviously forfeited!" One of Phillips' guys complained. Him along with the rest of Phillips' guys, Phillips, Benny, and the sandlot boys were waiting for Sam and her team on the school baseball field.
"Just hold up, alright? Ya" know how girls are. They have to take their precious time get 'ready'." Phillips mocked in a high, squeaky voice. Right after he said that, they all heard a whistle and they quickly turned around.
There they were. Sam in front of a group of girls, all of them with their arms crossed with baseball gloves while Sam held a bat. She was wearing a red varsity jacket with ripped jeans and matching red converse.
"Let's play ball, boys!" She hollered and Phillips started to walk up to her. Benny and he rest all followed closely behind.
"So ya actually showed up, Peffercorn." Phillips retorted when he stopped in front of her.
"We never pass a good opportunity to kick ass, Phillips."
"What makes ya so sure that you're gonna win? You're just girls."
Sam gave Benny quick glance and then looked back at Phillips with a glare. The sun made her eyes shine and Benny noticed specks of green in them. He never noticed them until then and Benny admire them.
"Well then, prepare to lose to a bunch of girls. Girls that ya' think can't do anything." Sam spat and threw her bat in the air.
As of reflex, Phillips grabbed the end of the bat that hits the ball. Sam grabbed the part on top of where Phillips' hand was, and Phillips grabbed the spot on top of where Sam's hand was. They kept king, so on and so forth. That's how anyone decides who's going to bat first.
Towards the end, Phillips placed his hand on the end where you grab the bat. Sam smirked and slammed her hand on the remaining spot. Her team cheered.
"We get to bat first." She smiled sweetly and swiped the bat from Phillips' hands. His jaw clenched in anger and him with the rest of the school team all went into position in the field.
Sam went up to bat first and when she went on to home plate, she hit the bat on the side of her converse. She positioned herself in the right stance and so did DeNunez, getting ready to pitch. He finally threw the ball and Sam took a swing and hit the ball with a WHACK!
The ball flew in the air, heading towards Benny's direction. He lifted his gloved hand up and waited for the ball. His eyes followed the baseball as it went right past him.
Benny looked back at home plate and saw that it was empty. His eyes darted around the field and the he saw Sam reaching second. His eyes widened.
Damn, she's fast! Benny thought before sprinting towards the ball.

Sam started to pant heavily as her feet hit second and they kept taking her to third. Sam quickly glanced at the bleachers and they were filled with students and her team on the first row.
Sam's eyes widened and she started to slow down to get a better look at everyone. She didn't expect anyone from her to school to show up and watch them play.
But San realized that she had to keep running, for her team.
Sam kept sprinting to third and the ball flew to Yeah-Yeah who was standing on the third base. Sam made it just in time before he catched it. She then bended over and placed my hands on my knees as she tried to catch her breath. Cheers erupted from the bleachers and Sam smiled weakly to herself. Sam then stood back up as it was Charlie's turn to bat.
She stood up to bat, and when the ball flied to her, she missed. Benny's team laughed but Ham, the catcher, didn't catch the ball, making it roll towards the bleachers.
Once he had the ball in his glove, he threw it back to DeNunez and without thinking, Sam's legs started to move, making Sam head towards home.
This caused her team to gasp. Sam never stole any bases, but she had to make an emergency to steal.
DeNunez catched the ball and was ready to throw again at Charlie, but his team yelled at him and pointed at Sam. Sam was about two feet away from home when he looked at her. He threw the ball to home plate quickly but when Sam got close enough, she dived to the base. Her hands slammed on the base before she felt a ball touch my back.
Sam stood up and was immediately pushed into a bone crushing hug.
"Our first homer, Sam!" Charlie squealed into Sam's ear as she hugged her back. "I can't believe ya' actually stole!"
"Me neither, Charlie. It was like my feet had a mind of its own!" Sam pulled back and she felt an arm swing over her shoulder.
Sam looked over and Zoey, the red head of her team, turned her toward the crowd on the bleachers.
"Give it up for Flash!" She hollered. Sam felt her cheeks burn.
"Flash! Flash! Flash! Flash!" The crown chanted.
Sam's team nicknamed her Flash, because she ran really fast. At least, that's what they said, but Charlie was the one who made it up. She said that she named her after the superhero Flash, also because I can go from one base to another in a flash.
It reminded Sam of the time Benny called her Flash. She never told Charlie about that, so she felt that it was a coincidence.
Zoey pulled Sam's hand up in victory and then she felt a hand grip her shoulder tightly. Sam was roughly turned around and she was faced with Phillips.
Sam pushed his hand off of her shoulder. "Ow! The hell was that Phillips?"
"This, is not over yet." He nearly growled. Sam smirked.
"I think it already is." San flicked her head towards the crowd. "They already have a favorite."
"That doesn't mean anything, Peffercorn." He snapped. "There are still nine innings left."
"Then let's keep going! Get ready to get your asses beat!" He huffed and went back to position in the field. Sam pushed Charlie back on the plate and Zoey back on the bleachers.
