Jeno sighs as he scratches behind Louis' ear. He knew it would be difficult to actually do anything to gain Jaemin's trust again, but with school now in full swing, it was even harder. Plus, Jaemin was still dancing and working at the bakery, giving Jeno an even smaller window to prove himself. He was just lucky enough that they went to the same college now.

"What am I going to do Louis..." He looks at the cat who lays sleeping on his belly. He sighs once more. "At least I still have his number, so I'm not totally hopeless...Holy shit!
He sits up quickly, awakening the cat who scampered off his stomach and onto the dorm room floor. "I still have his number!"

Jeno smiles and quickly takes out his phone. He knew they were both too busy for him to ask Jaemin out, much less would the younger agree to it. So instead, he resorted to something he did when they were still dating and couldn't see each other during the day. He sent pick-up lines.

Jeno smiles, even though Jaemin didn't respond, he still saw it. And Jeno hoped wistfully, that he at least made the younger boy blush. Even just a little bit.

Every day after that, Jeno would send Jaemin a pick-up line. If he had the time, he'd walk with Jaemin around the school after the younger boy's class before watching him leave the gate to go back home. Jaemin, although at first hesitant to have the blonde boy beside him, figured nothing would come of him pushing Jeno away, and instead he let the older be. Sometimes Jeno would talk, sometimes he would stay silent. On a rare occasion, he and Jaemin would share earbuds and listen to music.

If Jeno was lucky, he would be able to get an I-don't-wanna-smile-but-I-can't-help-it smile out of the honey-haired 19-year-old; although it only happened about two times in the last month.

That's right...It's already been a month and a half. It was mid-September now. And Jeno had barely progressed in the past 6 weeks. Sure Jaemin wasn't ignoring him, but he didn't answer texts, only spoke a few words, and rarely smiled. But, it was enough. Jeno was still trying his best. And, since he had overheard Mark on a call with Jaemin (Jeno and Mark were on good terms now thankfully), and turns out Jaemin wanted a cat. Jeno wasn't sure how, but he knew it was a good chance to finally do something big for the boy he loved.

Jeno also began to make it a routine to message the boy at 9 am every day (yes he did have an alarm set. whipped culture at its finest). Sometimes it was a simple good morning. Others it was a motivational message. Sometimes a meme, but more normally he made it a pick-up line.

It was on one fine Friday that Jeno got a shock.

LeeJeno:
Did it hurt when you fell from heaven ?

Jeno sighs and locks his phone, not waiting for a response, since he never got one anyways.

*ding*

There was a pause in which Jeno hesitantly took his phone into his hand.

*ding*

And then it went silent. Eager and giddy with happiness, Jeno hurries to unlock his phone, smiling widely at the message.

It wasn't much, and a little dark, but it was a huge step in the right direction. For the first time in 6 long and tiring weeks, Jeno finally got a reply. Jaemin finally answered. And he couldn't be happier.

Jaemin sighs softly, sitting at his kitchen counter and staring at the text chat between him and his ex. He had just gotten home from his final class of the day, and couldn't even stop himself to realize that he had just replied to Jeno. In his usual dark humor way at that.

"Aish..." he scratches the back of his head before muttering a "fuck it" and changing his ex's username. Not like Jeno would know anyways.

Too late to turn back now because Jaemin knew that slowly but surely, that euphoric feeling was coming back. Those glorious memories were resurfacing. His heart beat faster, his smiles grew wider. He just hopes that this time, Jeno will keep his promise. That he'll stay. Because that's all Jaemin wants at this point. For Jeno to stay with him.
