Percy Pov
I woke up to the sound of shattering glass like usual. Fear shot down my spine when I heard Paul scream for me to get my a** down in the kitchen. I got out of bed put on a shirt and walked down the stairs. When I reached the bottom of the stairs I was greeted by the not so welcoming face of my step dad Paul. He unbuckled hia belt and whipped we straight across my face. I forced myself to not make a noise. He kicked me to the floor and whipped me over and over again untill there wasn't really any skin left that could be whipped. He put his belt back on and stumbled to his room where he would get ready for his job that he didn't deserve at all. He was the owner of one of the most successful car business. But instead of keeping the money to pay for food and water he used it for gambling. And half the time he lost. I picked myself up and slowly walked up the stairs to the bathroom but of course Paul was in there taking a steamy shower. So I wouldn't be able to shower off all the blood. I carefully applied gauze to my back wincing every second. After the grueling task was complete I put on a loose fitting t-shirt and walked out the door to school.
