Chapter 9: Fifteen, Love

Linh Glass belongs to LillianDuncan

Queen Salem was sitting on her throne as she looked down at her solider Adam who would be taking Mercury's place. The black crystal like exterior made the palace look more intimidating but Adam was far more intimidating.

"Your majesty I have a better way to gather up energy. It's much more efficient than Mercury's way."

Said Adam.

Then a petite girl with dual colored hair appeared behind him in shards of shattering glass.

"Neo."

Said Adam with gritted teeth.

Neo couldn't talk in the physical sense so instead she communicated through telepathy.

"Oh please Queen Salem. You shouldn't pick Adam. He's a total loser!"

"Buzz off Neo!"

Said Adam angrily.

"Neo that's enough. Please Adam you may continue."

Said Salem.

"Yes your majesty."

Then Adam made a huge diagram of the solar system appear with his magic.

"I can gather more energy from a single person than Mercury could get from a hundred!"

Said Adam eagerly.

"Oh and how is that?"

Asked Salem.

"Everybody on Remnant is ruled by the movement of stars and planets. And each person has their own unique rhythm of these celestial bodies. There's always a moment in every person's life when their planets and stars align and their maximum output of energy reaches its peak. If we exploit that energy than we'll be able to gather much more than ever before and much quicker than Mercury ever could."

Said Adam.

"That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard!"

Neo exclaimed.

"Adam I see potential in this plan. I expect great things from you. You may go now."

Said Salem.

"Yes your majesty."

Said Adam.

With that he bowed before his queen and transported himself to the woods just outside of Vale. He bowed his head and connected his mind to the stars.

"Sagittarius! Great archer! I call upon you now! Shoot your arrow and guide me to a person who's about to reach their maximum energy output!"

Soon Adam felt a picture begin to form in his mind, he saw a girl with light mocha skin and dark brown hair wearing a tennis uniform.

"Linh Glass. This is who the archer has picked for me. Soon her energy will belong to the negaverse!"

Over at the tennis court Ruby and Jenni were watching as Linh practiced against another girl. She served the ball and hit it over the net. It bounced once before her opponent swung their racket forward. Unfortunately they were unable to hit it meaning that Linh scored.

"Way to go!" Jenni shouted, "you're awesome big sister!"

"Wait what?" Ruby asked, "you never told me Linh was your sister."

"Oh she's not." Jenni said, "our moms have been best friends for years so Linh and I kind of grew up to together. We're so close that we consider each other sisters."

Her best friend smiled, "that's so sweet."

The other girl nodded and continued watching the tennis practice.

All of a sudden a bright red sports car pulled into the parking lot and man stepped out of it. He was well dressed in black dress pants and a black coat. The coat was open revealing a red button up shirt beneath it. He was also wearing black boots with red soles. It was none other then Adam himself.

Once the girls that were watching the match got a good look at the newcomer they all were immediately smitten.

The only two who hadn't noticed were Jenni and Ruby. They were too focused on the game.

Jenni then realized that the spectators had gone silent, "Hey what's going on?"

"Check him out..." someone murmured.

"Check who out?" The girl asked.

However, just then she turned and saw Adam. Jenni gasped as she took the man's appearance in. She then felt her heart start to race and her face heat up.

"You feeling ok Jenni?" Ruby asked.

Jenni quickly turned so Ruby couldn't see her bright red face, "y-yeah I'm fine."

Adam ignored the attention and opened the gate to the court.

"Hey you can't come in here if you're not playing," Linh's opponent said.

The man however ignored her and turned to Linh, "I want you to put your weight into your next serve. Got it?"

"What?" The dark haired girl questioned.

"Put your weight into the serve."

He then approached the other girl, "may I see your racket please?"

The girl nodded and handed it to him.

"Now. Give me your best serve," Adam told Linh.

Linh shrugged but served the ball as hard as she could.

Adam however knocked the ball right back with the racket. When he hit it he used his magic to increase his strength a bit. The ball came whizzing back and knocked Linh's racket right out of her hand.

The man scoffed and put his borrowed racket down, "there's no attack in your serve."

Linh looked at the newcomer in disbelief, "who are you anyway?"

Adam ran a hand through his auburn hair, "my name is Garret Hunter. I'm a tennis coach."

He then walked over to Linh and looked at her discarded racket, "Here let me get that for you."

He picked the racket up and began sending magic into it. A wilting rose emblem appeared on the handle.

"I give this racket power from the negaverse," he said inside his head, "when Linh picks it up she will have the strength of ten regular people!"

Adam then handed the object back to Linh. As soon as her fingers touched it the spell took control. Her eyes glazed over and she smirked confidently.

"Now make sure to put weight into your serve," Adam said as Linh's opponent from earlier got ready for another match. However, this time when Linh served the ball she hit so hard it went right through her opponent's racket.

"Whoa! How did I do that?!" She asked aloud. She turned around to thank Adam but he had disappeared.

He hadn't gone far though and was watching his plan unfold from the next roof.

"The more she plays with that racket the more her energy will increase." Adam said chuckling to himself.

The rest of the afternoon Linh practiced with various opponents. But due to her increased strength she was beating them rather seamlessly. Soon nobody wanted to play against her.

"Anyone else want to take me on?" She smirked as she twirled her racket in her hand.

Ruby was awestruck watching her play but Jenni could feel that something was wrong. Linh never acted like this.

The next day Ruby was at Oniyuri temple telling her friends all about the tennis match earlier. But they were skeptical.

"Don't you think something is off. I mean who gets that strong that fast?" Zwei asked

Ruby scoffed, "Zwei you always think something's off. If anything Linh got better because of that coach. He showed her how to hold her racket better."

Blake shook her head, "I don't know Ruby maybe Zwei's right. This could be another energy stealing plot from the negaverse. We have to prepare ourselves for whatever may happen."

Cinder and Zwei nodded but Ruby didn't seem sure, "Maybe we should just wait and see what happens."

Cinder rolled her eyes, "you always say stuff like that. I swear sometimes you don't take being a sailor scout seriously."

The redhead narrowed her eyes, "of course I do! I just don't see why we need to investigate every little thing that seems suspicious. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go meet up with Jenni."

With that she turned on her heel and walked away.

At the tennis courts Linh was practicing against another boy. But by this point her strength had grown so much that when she hit the ball at her opponent it went right through his racket ripping the netting.

"Hey my racket!" The boy shouted.

Linh scoffed and tossed her dark brown ponytail over her shoulder, "serves you right. You're too weak to play someone like me."

The boy picked up his racket and walked away.

Jenni was watching from the sidelines and she was not happy with what she was witnessing. Sadly she left the court and headed home. Thankfully, she ran into Ruby on her way.

"Jenni!" Ruby yelled

The blue haired girl turned to her friend, "Hey Rubes."

"What's wrong? You seem so sad."

"It's Linh. She's not acting like herself. I'm really worried."

"Hey Jen don't worry she's probably just stressed because she has a tournament in a few days.

Jenni opened the door to her house and let Ruby inside, "I thought that's what it was, but now I just don't know. She's become really mean and aggressive. The Linh I know would never act like this."

She then felt her best friend place her hand on her shoulder, "don't worry Jenni we'll go talk to Linh, then you'll see you have nothing to worry about."

Jenni wiped her yellow eyes that had tears accumulating in them. "Thanks Ruby. I appreciate it."

—————————————————————
Later that evening the two girls went to the tennis court to find Linh practicing to herself.

"Linh you have to stop this. If something's wrong let me help you." Jenni said.

Linh scoffed, "get out of here Jenni. You're distracting me."

The blue haired girl clenched her fists, "No! I won't leave unless you come with me!"

The dark haired girl raised her racket and a tennis ball, "I warned you." She raised her racket and hit the ball right at Jenni. It hit her in the forehead and knocked her out.

"Jenni!" Ruby shouted.

Linh's racket then began to glow with the same wilting rose emblem as before. Her energy had reached its maximum output.

Adam, through the link he established with Linh, could feel as her energy increased and he snapped his fingers, "let's give this energy physical form."

All of the collected energy spilled out of the racket and it turned into a demon like creature with pure white skin and spiked hair.

Linh collapsed as all her energy was sucked out of her.

Ruby gasped, "so it is the negaverse after all. I should call the others. No wait if I call them then that'll just prove that I can't do this. So I have to beat this creature myself. Moon prism power!"

Her locket glowed and turned her into Sailor Moon.

"Hey creep!" She shouted.

The monster looked up at her.

"I'm Sailor Moon the champion of justice. On behalf of the moon you will pay for what you've done here. Game, set, match," Sailor Moon said.

The monster picked up Linh's discarded racket, "you dare challenge me?!"

It created a ball of pure dark energy and sent it the heroine's way, and try as she might she couldn't outrun it. As soon as the ball touched her Sailor Moon's body was encased in a giant tennis ball. The ball then began levitating and it bounced all around the court.

"I don't like this!" Sailor Moon shouted.

The monster laughed until it felt something slice across its face. This revealed itself to be a red rose.

"Now now that's no way to treat a lady," Tuxedo Mask said, "you should learn some manners."

The creature snapped its teeth, "quit talking or I'll do the same to you."

The caped hero shrugged, "go ahead. It looks kinda fun."

The monster raised the racket, "fine you asked for it!" It sent another ball of energy toward Tuxedo Mask but he merely jumped over it and made his way to Sailor Moon. He raised his cane and brought it down on the tennis ball she was encased in, breaking it in two.

"Thank you," the heroine said standing up.

"Don't thank me yet. It's not over." Tuxedo Mask readied his cane, "get ready."

The monster charged towards them and the hero scooped up Sailor Moon in his arms and leaped over the creature's attack. Sailor Moon blushed as Tuxedo Mask held her close. When they landed the hero extended his weapon and used it to hit the monster and knock it down.

"Now Sailor Moon!"

Sailor Moon nodded and removed her tiara, "Moon tiara magic!"

She threw it at the monster and disintegrated it. This also returned all the stolen energy to Linh

"Good going Sailor Moon." Tuxedo Mask said, but then he sunk to the ground and gripped his head.

"A-are you ok?" Sailor Moon asked in concern.

"I'm fine. Don't worry. I just have to go." With that he pulled his cape over himself and disappeared.

"Sailor Moon!" Someone shouted.

The girl turned and saw Sailor Mercury and Sailor Mars running toward her.

"Hey guys," Sailor Moon said.

"Are you ok?" Sailor Mercury asked.

Sailor Moon nodded, "yeah. And I told you all that I can handle this myself."

Sailor Mars sighed, "alright. Maybe we can trust you a bit more. But I still stand by what I said."

The heroine scowled, "oh yeah?!"

"Yeah!"

Sailor Mercury sighed, "Well. It seems some things won't be changing."

Zwei nodded in agreement, "but hopefully one day these two will learn to get along."
