Chapter 6: Enter Sailor Mars

Salem waved her hand over her seer Grimm and looked down at the planet Remnant.

"Mercury I'm very disappointed. Our energy reserves are not growing fast enough. If I'm going to ever release the negaforce then I need more energy and the imperial silver crystal. Now tell me is your next plan ready yet?"

"Yes Queen Salem," Mercury said bowing.

Salem drummed her fingers on her throne's armrests, "Good. Then we just have those sailor scouts to take care of."

In Vale Ruby and Blake were walking home from school when a huge line of police cars drove past them.

"What's with all the cops?" Ruby asked

"I don't know but it sure is strange," said Blake.

Ruby shrugged, "Hey Blake do you want to go the arcade."

"No thank you. I have homework to do."

"Shouldn't you be doing that too?" Zwei asked.

Ruby began laughing nervously but more police cars driving by interrupted her.

"Alright now this is just getting annoying." The silver eyed girl muttered.

"Hey you guys!" Yang called running up to them with Jenni on her heels, "did you just see all those police cars?"

"Yeah where are they going?" Blake asked.

"To the Oniyuri temple," Jenni explained, "the one on the outskirts of town. Apparently a huge bus carrying passengers home from there disappeared. And apparently this isn't the first one to vanish."

Ruby shivered, "creepy..."

Yang punched her fists together, "Well I want to check it out. It sounds awesome. And apparently they sell these charms at the temple that are supposed to bring you good luck."

Blake's cat ears twitched under her bow, "Well if you do go up there can you get me a charm?"

Ruby turned to look at her friend, "What do you need luck for Blake?"

Blake twisted a strand of her dark hair between her fingers, "my extra credit essays."

————————————————––———––

At the temple several girls were buying charms and talking about how they hoped that the charms would work.

Unbeknownst to them Mercury, who was currently in disguise as a temple worker, was watching them. "Don't worry. Those charms will work. Once you wear them they'll suck your energy right out of you."

As he began laughing to himself a shrine maiden, who was kneeling before a fire, felt a dark wave of energy wash over her.

"What was that?" She wondered aloud. However her thoughts were interrupted by voices. The voices of Ruby, Jenni, and Yang who had made their way to the temple. They hadn't been standing there long when an old lady came up to them.

"Didn't I just send you on your way towards the bus?" The woman asked.

"I don't believe so ma'am," Jenni said.

The woman leaned on her cane which had a skull on it. "I'm sure I did....my mind may not be as clear as it once was but my eyesight is twenty twenty if you add up both my eyes."

"It would be better if you would remember to wear your glasses grandmother," the shrine maiden said walking over, rolling her eyes she added, "Welcome to the Oniyuri temple. My name is Cinder. And this is my grandmother Maria."

Suddenly she once again felt a dark energy wave wash over her, it was Mercury activating the good luck charms the girls from before had bought.

"Not again," Cinder said, "I won't allow evil forces here at our temple."

She reached into her robe to grab a scroll. But when she pulled her hand out again she accidentally smacked Ruby in the face.

"Oww!" Ruby said, "What was that for?!"

"Sorry," Cinder said, looking embarrassed, "sometimes I get a bit too carried away. Here let me get you a bandage."

The girls went inside the temple and Cinder began rummaging in the drawers for a bandage.

"I have one right here," a new voice said.

The females all turned to see Mercury standing there but since he was in disguise Ruby didn't recognize who he was.

"Thanks Merc," Cinder said in relief.

Yang was oggling over him before he shut the temple's sliding screen door.

"Wow he's hot..."

Said Yang with a slight blush creeping up on her cheeks..

"I mean yeah he's cute but I'm into older men."

Jenni replied.

"Like how old?"

Asked Ruby.

"Like in college age."

"But you're not in college."

Said Ruby.

"Can we get back to talking about the cute guy?

Yang asked.

"Oh you mean Merc?"

Asked Cinder.

"Yeah." Said Yang.

"My grandmother hired him. I don't really like him."

Said Cinder.

"Why not?"

Asked Yang.

"There's something off about him."

Said Cinder.

"Off about him?"

Asked Yang.

"I've been getting these visions since I was little-"

"Wait?! You can predict the future?! That's so cool!"

Yelled Ruby cutting her off.

Zwei, who was sleeping at Ruby's feet, suddenly jolted awake after hearing her yell. He shook his head but then began to feel a strange energy reading coming from Cinder.

"What's this I'm feeling?" He asked in his head as he looked at the temple maiden.

"There you are!" A coarse voice shouted.

A slightly older woman got up in Cinder's face, "my daughter was supposed to be home by now but she never arrived. She came up here to buy one of your temple doohickeys and now I hear that her bus disappeared?"

Cinder stood up to her full height and leaned in the woman's face, "I'm sorry but I don't know where she is. We get tons of people here everyday so we can't be held responsible if they miss their bus. If you're really so worried go talk to the police."

With that she shut the door in the woman's face.

Jenni, Yang, and Ruby looked at each other.

"Hey Cinder I think we're gonna head on home," Jenni said.

The raven haired girl sighed, "Alright. Sorry again about the bump on the head Ruby."

"Oh it's nothing really I'm fine," Ruby said, "see you later."

The three girls headed out but Zwei began barking at Ruby making her stop.

"What Zwei?" Ruby asked in a hushed voice.

"Rubes we're gonna miss the bus!" Yang shouted.

"I'll be right there you go on without me," Ruby told her big sister.

The blonde shrugged and headed off with Jenni.

"Ok what is it?" Ruby asked the small corgi.

"This place is giving me some very ominous feelings. I think you should go get Blake."

Ruby rolled her eyes, "this place does weird things like talk to spirits and stuff like that. That's probably what you're feeling."

Zwei looked unsure, "I still think it might be the negaverse."

The silver eyed girl sighed, "ok how about we look more into this when we get home."

—————————————————————
The next day Ruby and Blake were scoping out the city trying to find clues. It didn't take long for them to find a group of people that were waiting for a bus to Oniyuri temple. Oddly enough though everyone in the group was wearing a good luck charm from the temple.

"Look at their faces," Blake pointed out, "they all look so tired and drained of energy."

The roar of a bus's engines got their attention.

"Quick girls get on that bus," Zwei commanded them.

As the door's opened and the people shuffled on Ruby got a good look at the bus driver. It was an old man who seemed harmless enough. But there was something about him that just set off all the alarms in the girl's head.

"On second thought I'll walk," Ruby said sheepishly stepping off the bus.

The driver shrugged and closed the door before driving away.

"Ruby!" Blake said in an annoyed tone, "that could've been our ticket to finding out if the buses really are disappearing."

Ruby sheepishly rubbed the back of her head with her hand. Then, both girls looked up in alarm as the bus disappeared into a mysterious black portal.

Blake looked horrified, "D-did you see that?!"

Ruby nodded, "the bus...it vanished!"

—————————————————————
Inside the portal the bus driver turned to look at his passengers who were all slumped in their seats asleep or curled up on the bus floor.

"It seems Mercury's plan is working," the driver told himself, "Queen Salem will be so happy when I arrive with all these humans and their good luck charms which are storing the energy that we harvested from them."

——————————————————————
"Cinder! Cinder!" Ruby shouted as she and Blake ran into the temple.

"What?" Cinder asked looking up at them.

"The temple bus! The rumors about it are all true!"

Cinder scowled, "don't call it the temple bus. We don't own it! And even if we did grandmother and I aren't behind the disappearances."

"We just thought you might now something." Blake added.

"Why would I?"

"The passengers that we saw we're wearing the charms that you buy here." Ruby said.

"Well talk to Merc then. Those charms are his stupid idea." Cinder scoffed.

Seeing that they had made the girl angry, Blake and Ruby decided to leave.

Cinder sighed sadly to herself, "Maybe they're right. I have to figure out what's going on."

She entered her meditation chamber and lit a fire in the pit in front of her before kneeling before it and clasping her hands together.

"Tell me spirits. Who has brought this great evil to my temple?"

The flames flickered and face began to appear.

Cinder looked angry, "Merc! I knew it!" She yelled as the flames took the form of the young man.

She ran outside to confront him, "Merc whatever sick game you're playing ends now."

Mercury feigned confusion, "what's wrong Cinder?"

"You're what's wrong! You're behind the buses disappearing. I don't know how but it must be you!"

Mercury smirked, "well it seems I've been caught. To bad you won't get to tell anyone."

He snapped his fingers and a portal opened beneath Cinder's feet and pulled her into it before it shut.

—————————————————————
Meanwhile Ruby was waiting at the base of the hill at the bus stop and she was determined to get on it this time to see where it was going. If it began to disappear then her goal was to stop it.

Blake had gone off to call her parents to tell them that she would be a little late so it was just Ruby and Zwei waiting for the bus.

Ruby suddenly got an idea and pulled her lunar pen out of her skirt pocket.

"What are you doing?" Zwei asked.

"Well if I'm here on a mission then I should have a disguise right. All spies go in disguise."

"You're not a spy Ruby," the corgi scoffed.

"Whatever. Disguise power! Turn me into uhh a-flight attendant-or something...."

The pen glowed and Ruby's clothes turned into a flight attendant's uniform.

"Well how do I look?" The girl asked striking a pose.

Zwei rolled his eyes, "you'd look better if this was a plane."

Ruby shrugged and got on the bus with her dog on her heels.

When they got on they were horrified to see that every passenger was passed out.

"Driver!" Ruby shouted, "you and this bus are under arrest for making totally bogus runs!"

"Oh so you're a police officer now?" Zwei deadpanned.

The old bus driver ignored her however and closed the door before driving the bus into another black portal.

Blake had returned from making her phone call and she looked up just in time to see the bus and her friends disappearing, "oh no I'm too late!" She shouted, "they're gone!"

—————————————————————
As soon as the bus came to a stop Ruby and Zwei were thrown out of it.

"Where are we?" Ruby asked.

Wherever it was everything was bathed in an eerie blue light and the buses were floating around them in zero gravity.

A little bit away Ruby noticed a figure laying on her side it looked like-

"Cinder!" Ruby shouted running over to her.

Ruby began to shake her, "Cinder wake up!"

The shrine maiden slowly opened her eyes, "Ruby? Where are we?"

"I'm not sure," the silver eyed girl admitted.

"Look out girls!" Zwei shouted.

Both girls turned to see the bus driver coming for them but he had turned into a reptilian monster.

"Cinder get behind me. I'll keep you safe," Ruby said.

Cinder pushed her away, "no. That thing is responsible for the bad stuff happening at my home. It's not going to get away with it!"

The front of her hair slightly lifted up as a mark began to glow on her forehead. It appeared to be a pair of shoes. The soles were placed next to each other in a way that the heels and toes formed a heart.

"That's...Mars," Zwei said.

Cinder looked down at the dog with wide eyes, "how did you learn to talk?!"

"No time to explain," Zwei said doing several backflips in the air causing a crimson stick with a golden tip to materialize in the air. The top of the stick had the same symbol that was on Cinder's forehead.

Cinder picked the stick up, "what am I supposed to do with this?"

"I'll show you," Ruby said, "but first Moon prism power!" Her locket glowed turning her into Sailor Moon.

"Cinder hold that stick up," Zwei told her, "and say Mars power!"

Cinder held the stick above her head, "Mars power!"

As soon as she shouted that she began to glow with a bright light and her clothes transformed into a white leotard, a short crimson skirt and matching pumps on her feet. White gloves appeared on her hands and two crimson bows appeared one on her chest and the other at her back at the waistband of her skirt. A golden tiara with a ruby set in it appeared on her forehead.

"So you're the sailor scouts then," the reptilian monster hissed.

"That's right," Sailor Moon said, "we are the champions of justice and we will right wrongs and triumph over evil and that means you."

She took off her tiara and aimed it at the monster, "moon tiara magic!" She threw it at the monster but he was able to move out of the way.

"Quick tiara capture him!" Sailor Moon shouted.

The tiara flew back towards the reptilian beast and wrapped itself around him.

"Now its my turn," Sailor Mars said. She clasped her hands together with her pointer fingers facing upward, "Mars fire ignite!"

The flames burst from her fingers before going to the monster and engulfing him in a column of fire. It burned the creature to ash leaving Sailor Moon's tiara behind.

"Great job scouts," Zwei commended them. But then he got a look of horror on his face, "oh no the portal we came through is closing, we have to go now."

"But how will we get everyone else back with us?" Sailor Moon asked.

They then heard a honking noise and saw Tuxedo Mask sitting in the driver's seat of one of the buses, "did I hear you ladies say you need a ride?"

He had tied all the buses together meaning that everyone could go home.

The two sailor scouts and the corgi hopped on board and Tuxedo Mask drove them and the unconscious passengers through the portal.

Unbeknownst to them Mercury was watching as the buses returned back to the city, "all the energy we collected is gone and now we have another sailor brat to deal with. Queen Salem won't like this at all."
