Chapter 4: Enter Sailor Mercury
Mercury stood there in front of Salem who sat at her throne. She was beginning to grow impatient with Mercury's constant failure.
"What plan do you have this time Mercury? I am starting to grow rather impatient with you."
Mercury gulped and looked into Salem's blood red eyes.
"Well my queen I have devised a plan to gather more energy. You see I have decided to target school kids."
"School kids?"
"Yes. You see since birth some parents will do anything to make sure that their children get into these top universities. These parents become even more ruthless than our monsters."
Said Mercury.
"So What happens after these children get into this... university?"
Mercury shrugged.
"Who knows? But it doesn't matter. These kids exert so much energy into study and getting the top grades."
Salem was looking very skeptical.
"Very well Mercury. Proceed with your plan. But keep in my mind that my patience is growing very thin."
Mercury gulped and bowed.
"I won't fail you this time my queen!"
Said Mercury.
"For your sake I hope you don't."
Said Salem as her hands moved over her floating red crystal ball.

Meanwhile Ruby was reading a comic book downstairs while laughing on the couch. Raven rolled her eyes as her daughter was lazing about.
"What are you doing? Shouldn't you be studying?"
Asked Raven as she quirked her brow.
Ruby walked over to her mother.
"No mom you need to see this! This is hilarious!"
Said Ruby handing her mother the comic book.
Raven laughed a little reading the small comic strip.
"Oh that is funny!"
Then Raven's face changed into a more serious look.
"Now how did your practice test go?! Did you get a good grade?!"
Asked Raven.
"Oh c'mon mom relax! The test scores don't come in until tomorrow."
Said Ruby.
"Oh Ruby... You know I don't ask too much from you. I only ask that you get good grades and study."
Said Raven while trying to make Ruby feel guilty.
Then Ruby started crying.
"Oh mom! You have no idea how hard it is being the dumb kid! I mean I like to think that I'm making the smart kids look smarter by being on the bottom! If anyone should be miserable it's me! I mean someone has to be on the bottom to be up top right?"
Raven rolled her eyes at Ruby.
"Oh Ruby you have the most bizarre excuses for everything."
Said Raven with an eye roll.
Ruby grumbled but went upstairs to her room where she pulled her textbooks out and began doing her homework.
But as she began getting bored she started chewing on her pencil.
"How's your homework coming?" Zwei asked her.
"Oh it's fine but these problems are hard," said Ruby
The corgi turned to her, "Really? Well maybe I can help you figure them out." He jumped on the desk but saw that Ruby was reading yet another comic book.
"Hey!" Ruby said as Zwei knocked the book off her desk.
"You should be studying you know this."
"But why? I don't see why I even need to go to school. I mean you're always telling me that my destiny is to be a Sailor Scout." Ruby pointed out.
"Sailor Scouts need to study too. You need to know more about the world," said Zwei, "just do it."

The next morning Ruby and her sister Yang entered the school to find a large group of students standing around talking.
"What's going on?" Yang asked.
"There's a new girl," Jenni said, "she transferred here from the school in the city of Menagerie."
"Which means she's probably a Faunus," said another girl, "isn't that strange?"
"Well Faunus aren't that strange," Jenni muttered.
"Yeah I mean look at me," Ugine said, wiggling his fox ears.
"My point exactly," the girl said
Ruby looked over and saw a girl with black hair staring at them. She had a bow in her hair and was holding a book.
"Is that her?" Yang asked.
Jenni nodded.
Ruby noticed that the new girl looked very sad, "oh no you guys I think she heard us."
Yang awkwardly waved at the girl who gave her a scowl and walked away.
Later, after school, the two sisters headed home and Ruby was dragging her feet.
"Come on sis keep up," Yang said
"Mom is gonna ask me if I passed my test. So I'm going slower so I'll get home later," Ruby said
Yang rolled her eyes and then she felt Zwei rub his face against her ankle.
"Hey there," the blonde said picking the dog up.
Ruby then noticed someone walking on the opposite side of the street.
"Hey Yang isn't that the new girl?"
Yang followed her gaze, "Yeah it is."
"I really wanted to talk to her and get to know her better."
"Well here's your chance to," Yang said grabbing her arm and dragging her across the street.
"Yang!" Ruby yelled.
The new girl turned to the sound of the redhead's voice.
"Hellooooo!" Yang said in a singsong voice.
"Hi." The girl said.
"You're the new girl at our school right?"
"Yes." The girl said in a monotone voice.
"I'm Yang and this is my sister Ruby. What's your name?"
"Blake. Blake Belladonna."
"Nice name," Yang said cheerfully.
"Thank you."
The blonde wasn't sure what to say next, "Umm I like your bow. It goes great with your school uniform."
Blake sighed, "thank you."
Ruby then poked her head out from behind her big sister, "so you're from the school in Menagerie right? So you must be-"
"A Faunus, yes I am," Blake said removing her bow revealing a pair of cat ears.
"That's cool," Ruby said.
Blake just stared, "I heard you and your friends say I was strange."
Ruby looked embarrassed, "oh well uh....that's just gossip."
Zwei looked up at Blake and suddenly he got a very strange feeling. Her energy felt off.
"Hey why don't we go the arcade?" Yang suggested, "it'll be fun."
The cat girl sighed, "Sure I guess."
Yang looked excited and the three headed over to the arcade.
When they got there Zwei jumped into Ruby's arms and began gnawing on her hood.
"Oh umm you guys go inside. I'll be right in." Ruby said.
The other two girls shrugged and walked inside.
"What Zwei?" Ruby questioned the corgi.
"I feel something off about that girl. She may be an enemy from the negaverse."
The silver eyed girl let out a groan, "Really Zwei? I think you're losing it. She's fine."
With that Ruby walked inside and found her friends at a machine playing a fighting game. But Blake was doing much better then the blonde girl.
"Wow Blake," Yang said, "Are you sure that you've never played this before?"
Blake shook her head.
Soon she began attracting a small audience which included Ruby's crush Jaune.
"What's going on over here?" He asked.
"Oh hey Jaune," Ruby said, "this is my friend Blake. She's good at this game isn't she."
However just then Blake's watch began beeping and she jumped up from the console, "oh no I'm late!"
The group groaned as Blake's avatar was destroyed.
The dark haired girl grabbed her backpack and pushed past the group. But she was moving so fast that she dropped the bag and spilled its contents everywhere.
Ruby bent down to help her pick the items up, "where are you going?"
"I have an online computer class to get to," Blake said rushing out of the arcade.
Ruby noticed though that her new friend neglected to pick up a computer flash drive she had dropped.
"Hey Yang I'm gonna go return this to Blake," she told her big sister.
"Ok. I'll stay here. I gotta break Blake's high score." The blonde said.
Ruby raced out of the arcade with Zwei on her heels.
————————————————————————
As Blake and the other students entered the building where the computer class was being held a woman was watching from the window.
She was a plump woman with blonde hair and she had a spider tattoo on her shoulder. She was wearing a purple, white, and yellow skirt with a white bodice and lace up brown boots.
The woman cackled as she watched the students walk in, "excellent we have so many new students. Which means much more energy for her majesty Queen Salem."
She then descended the stairs and entered the classroom.
Meanwhile Blake was frantically going through her backpack, "I can't find my flash drive. I must've left it at the arcade I'll have to-"
"Blake," the teacher said interrupting her.
"Yes ma'am?"
"You know you're my best student. You pour so much energy into this class," the teacher said.
Blake smiled, "thank you Miss Malachite."
Malachite gave her a sweet smile despite the malice she was hiding behind it, "I've decided that I want you to lead the class today."
"Oh thank you Miss."
"Class will start in a minute."
Outside the building Ruby was reading the sign trying to find the room where the class was being held.
"I don't understand why anyone would want to take additional classes."
Zwei looked up at her, "before we go in there we should check what's on that drive."
Ruby sighed, "fine if it will help you calm down."
They found an unoccupied computer in the building and put the flash drive in. Almost immediately the computer began making a high pitched squealing noise.
"Cover your ears!" Zwei commanded.
Ruby did as she was told and soon Mercury's voice began pouring out the computer's speakers.
"Welcome to this special program students. You've been chosen to give your energy up to our glorious queen Salem."
"It's as I thought," Zwei said, "this is a brainwashing program. Your friend is evil. We have to go into the classroom and stop her."
"Well I can't walk in there like this. She'll recognize me." Ruby pointed out.
Zwei thought for a minute, "you're right. Then use the Lunar Pen."
The girl nodded and pulled the pen out of her pocket, "Alright. Disguise power! Turn me into a school superintendent!"
She tossed the pen in the air and Ruby's clothes were turned into a short red dress, a white button up coat and black pumps on her feet.
The newly transformed Ruby then made her way to the classroom. She turned the doorknob and threw the door open.
"Alright who's in charge of this class?! I'm here to shut it down!"
The students all turned to look at her and they all had white eyes devoid of life. Their energy had been sapped by the computers and they were under control of the Negaverse.
"Hey who are you? what are you doing here?" Blake asked, standing up from her desk.
"The jig is up Blake!" Ruby shouted.
But Blake looked very confused.
"It's time for Sailor Moon," Zwei said.
"Moon prism power!" Ruby shouted and her locket glowed turning her into Sailor Moon.
"Sailor Moon?!" Blake said in surprise.
However just then Miss Malachite put her hand over the cat girl's mouth, "oh Blake can't I leave you in charge for one minute?"
Her body then began to swell up and she turned into a giant spider monster with a red hourglass shape on her abdomen.
"Well Zwei I think we found our monster," Sailor Moon muttered.
Malachite spit out spider silk from her mouth and tied Blake up in it before dropping her on the floor, "I'll come back for you later." She scrambled forward on her eight legs toward the heroine.
Sailor Moon quickly moved out of the way, "you're not going to get away with your evil plan. I am Sailor Moon the champion of justice! On behalf of the moon I will right wrongs and triumph over evil. And that means you eight eyes!"
Malachite merely scoffed, "let me ask you this then. What's 358 x 216?"
"Umm....Wait you're not my teacher so I don't have to answer!"
"Well this is a school where we expect fast answers. Which means you fail!" The giant spider shouted.
She then began shooting silk out of her mouth trapping the girl in a corner.
"Now you have two choices. Surrender now or surrender later."
"I'll never surrender!" Sailor Moon shouted.
Just then the zombified students stood up and shambled toward her.
Malachite turned toward Blake, "now it's your turn." She picked her up with one of her arms and shoved the dark haired girl's face in the computer so she would be drained of energy. However that proved to be easier said then done as a glowing mark appeared on Blake's forehead protecting her from the dark magic. It appeared to be a black flame.
"What is this from?" The monster asked lifting the girl up.
Zwei then noticed the mark and he gasped, "it's the sign of Mercury. Which means Blake isn't from the negaverse. She's Sailor Mercury."
He did several backflips in the air and a purple stick with a golden top materialized in the air. The very top of the stick had a symbol that matched the one on Blake's forehead.
Malachite shoved Blake to the floor, "fine then if you won't give me your energy I'll just kill you."
She lifted her leg and began trying to step on Blake in order to crush her. Blake did a good job of dodging until she too was backed into a corner.
Just as the monster was about to crush her Zwei spoke up, "Blake take this!"
Blake turned just as the corgi pushed the stick to her.
The girl reached down and picked it up.
"Shout Mercury Power!"
Blake thought this was crazy but after the day she'd just had she decided to do what the dog told her.
"Mercury Power!"
The stick released a purple light and Blake's clothes were replaced with a white leotard, white gloves, a short purple skirt and matching tall high heeled boots, a black bow then appeared on the front of her leotard and on back of the waistband of her skirt. On her forehead was a golden tiara with an onyx in the middle.
"What the?" The newly transformed Sailor Mercury questioned.
"Help me!" Sailor Moon shouted.
"Quick use your Mercury Bubbles!" Zwei shouted.
"Mercury Bubbles Blast!" Sailor Mercury shouted as purple bubbles formed in her hand when they popped they released a black shadowy fog. She aimed them at the spider monster.
Malachite immediately began looking for the source of the attack but Sailor Mercury had already gone to help her friend. She pulled Sailor Moon out of the crowd of students.
"Are you ok?"
"Yes but the big ugly thing isn't."
Sailor Moon grabbed her tiara where it promptly turned into a discus, "Moon Tiara Magic!" She threw the discus at Miss Malachite and it vaporized her. With the monster gone the students began to wake up.
"Oh good they're getting back to normal," Sailor Moon said.
Sailor Mercury looked down at her fingers, "What the heck just happened?!"
"Sailor Mercury you were great! Welcome the Sailor Scouts," said Zwei.
The other sailor scout looked over at her, "Blake you're Sailor Mercury. That's awesome!"
————————————————————————
After the students had cleared out Ruby and Blake were standing on the roof together.
"I'm sorry we thought you were one of those monsters," Ruby said.
"Well honestly if I were you I would've thought the same thing," said Blake, "I'm just happy we stopped that monster."
The redhead then got a sly smirk on her face, "Hey since we're friends and all do you think you could do my homework for me?"
Zwei groaned, "not this again Ruby!"
