In a house in the city of Vale an alarm clock was going off waking up a young girl named Ruby Rose.

"Oh no I'm late for school again!" she shouted leaping out of bed and getting dressed before racing downstairs to her mom, dad, and sister.

"Mother! Why didn't you wake me up in time for the first bell?"

Her mother, Raven, sighed, "I did Ruby. Three times. And each time you said you were getting up right away."

"And you believed me?" Ruby asked in disbelief rushing toward the door.

"Ruby!" her mom called back, "Aren't you forgetting something?"

Ruby turned to see her mom holding her lunch bag.

"Oh right. Thanks" she took the bag from Raven's hand and ran to the front door just as her sister Yang was leaving.

"Overslept again?" Yang asked

Ruby yawned, "I'm so tired I wish it was Saturday."

Yang rolled her eyes and the two headed to school. When they were about to cross the street they heard a commotion and saw three little boys poking something with a stick.

"Hey you three leave that thing alone!" Ruby yelled running over causing the boys to scatter.

"Ruby we're gonna be late." Yang told her.

"I'll catch up I promise," said Ruby.

Her older sister sighed and walked to the school on her own as Ruby examined whatever it was the boys had been bothering. It was a small corgi. On its forehead was an X shaped bandage.

Ruby pet the small dog, "you're ok. But let's take that bandage off of you."

She peeled the bandage off revealing a golden crescent moon mark on the dog's forehead.

"There you go," she said setting the dog down.

Suddenly the sound of the school bell echoed down the street.

"Oh no now I'm really late!" Ruby yelled running to school.

The dog watched her go, "that girl," he muttered to himself, "I felt something. Could she be the one?"

At the end of the school day Ruby was leaving class when her teacher Ms. Goodwitch pulled her aside and handed her her most recent test.

"Ruby you need to study harder there is absolutely no reason why you failed this test," she told her.

Ruby looked at the test in shock, "I-I failed? How can that be?"

"Have your mother sign this and return it to me."

Ruby sighed sadly and took the test from her hand and went out to the schoolyard to meet her friend Jenni.

"-and if my mom finds out I failed the test she'll cut my allowance and I won't be able to buy a new comic book," Ruby said explaining the severity of the situation to her best friend.

"Chill out Ruby. It's just one lousy test it's not like it's the end of the world," Jenni told her.

"Hey do you want me to be your tutor?" a boy named Ugine asked walking over to the two girls.

"About as much as I want a toothache," Ruby groaned.

Jenni rolled her eyes, "you're such a dweeb Ugine she doesn't need a tutor she needs a trip to the mall to get her mind off this. Ruby tell your mom your at my house studying."

Ugine ignored her and held his test up which had an almost perfect score, "Look I didn't even study and I got a 95 I would be the perfect tutor."

Ruby began to groan louder, "maybe he's right."

Jenni pulled her up off the curb, "we're going shopping. By the time you get home your mom will have forgotten about that dumb test."

Ruby looked at her, "Do you really think so?"

"I know so."

"Could we look for some earrings?"

"Great idea," Jenni said, "we can go to my mom's jewelry store. She's got some wicked cool stuff. Diamonds, emeralds, sapphires even rhinestones."

Ruby's eyes lit up, "Rhinestones? I love rhinestones! What are we waiting for let's go."

The two girls ran off together leaving Ugine behind.

"Ruby," he said to himself, "beautiful but a shopoholic."

Meanwhile in another dimension a wicked queen by the name of Salem sat on her throne. In her hands was a Seer Grimm, a creature that gave her the ability to see anyone anywhere.

"The time has come to attack the other dimension," she told her subjects, "but to do so I will require energy. A great deal of it. To do this we shall steal it from the planet Remnant. Mercury present yourself."

A young man clad in silver with hair to match approached Salem's throne and bowed, "Yes Queen Salem?"

"Tell me of your progress," she said.

Mercury nodded, "as we speak one of my servants has already infiltrated Remnant and is preparing to gather energy."

"Do not fail me. I need the human's energy," Salem said.

Mercury nodded, "yes my queen."

Back on Remnant Ruby and Jenni had entered Jenni's mom's jewlery store but there was already a huge crowd there.

"Come on in everyone's welcome!" Roquel Opal, Jenni's mom said speaking through a large megaphone.

Ruby and Jenni made their way in to see tons of women and girls trying on necklaces, rings, and bracelets.

"Jenni what's going on?" Ruby asked.

However Jenni looked just as confused as she did, "I'm not sure mom never has this many customers."

Roquel continued to yell into the megaphone, "today only everything is ninety percent off."

Jenni frowned, "and now that I think about it my mom is acting a little weird."

What the girls didn't realize though was that the woman in the store wasn't actually Jenni's mom well not entirely Mercury's servant Morga had possessed her and she was using enchanted jewelry to suck the life force out of the customers.

"Mom?" Jenni asked, "Ruby and I came to see some rhinestone jewelry."

Morga turned and put on a fake smile, "Rhinestones? Oh don't be silly girls help yourself to some diamonds instead there are plenty to go around."

Jenni frowned at this, her mother had never let her try on diamond jewelry before.

Morga reached behind the desk and pulled out a diamond ring, "it's twenty karats but I'll sell it to you for ten dollars."

Ruby gasped at this but as soon as the other women heard how cheap the ring was they shoved the girls aside to try and get it for themselves.

"I'm worried. I've never seen my mom act like this before," Jenni said.

Ruby sighed, "Jenni I think I'm just gonna head home. This place is so weird."

Jenni said goodbye to her friend and watched her go.

Sadly Ruby walked home dragging her feet, "How am I supposed to tell mom I flunked another test?"

She was so distracted she didn't even realize she had crashed into a dark skinned boy with brown hair and olive eyes.

"Hey watch it Red," he told her.

"Sorry," Ruby called back before heading home.

The boy watched her go, "that girl? Who is that?"

As soon as she got home her mother immediately asked how her previous math test went.

"Well you see mom it's like this-" Ruby began.

Raven held her hand out, "let me see."

Ruby groaned and handed her the test and Raven's face shifted into a scowl, "you failed?! You said you studied! You need to go the library and finish your homework there."

She pushed Ruby out the front door again and closed it.

At the jewelry store one by one the customers were beginning to faint as more and more of their energy was drained.

Jenni watched this in horror, "Mom what's happening to your customers?"

Except she was very surprised when Roquel let out an evil cackle, "I'm not your mother Jenni dear."

Meanwhile Ruby had convinced her mom to let her back in the house but instead of studying she was lying out on her bed asleep.

Suddenly something crept into her bedroom through the window and it walked over to the girl's sleeping form.

Ruby turned to see the same corgi that she had helped earlier, "You scared me what are you doing here?!"

"Why Ruby I came to see you of course." The small dog told her.

Ruby immediately got nose to nose with the creature, "a talking dog? Oh I must be studying too hard."

The dog cleared his throat, "My name is Zwei and I've been looking for you for a very very long time. You are the chosen one and I have been sent here to guide you on the path to your ultimate destiny. I wasn't sure if you were the one the first time we met but I've been watching you and now I absolutely know that you are the sailor scout of the moon."

Ruby faceplanted on the bed, "I'm hallucinating."

"No you aren't Ruby you are Sailor Moon and your friend Jenni is in trouble. You have got to help her."

Ruby still didn't move.

"You don't believe me?" asked Zwei, "alright then I'll prove it to you."

He did several back-flips in the air causing a silver rose shaped compact to materialize and land on the bed.

Ruby looked up, "what is that?"

"It's a special locket just for you."

Ruby smiled and pinned it onto her red hood that she always wore.

"Now listen to me," Zwei explained, "Sailor Moon is sworn to protect the Princess of the moon. And powerful evil forces have appeared here on Remnant and that special locket can help you fight them. Now repeat after me: Moon prism power."

"Ok," Ruby shrugged, "Moon prism power!"

As soon as she shouted that she began to glow with a bright light and her clothes transformed into a white leotard, a short red skirt and matching tall high heeled boots. White gloves appeared on her hands and two red bows appeared one on her chest and the other at her back at the waistband of her skirt. A red rose emblem glowed on her forehead before turning into a golden tiara with a crimson jewel set in it.

"Whoa I look awesome!" Ruby cheered.

Suddenly she heard the sound of Jenni crying out for help.

"That's Jenni. But how can I help her?"

"You're Sailor Moon. You'll know what to do when you get there," Zwei told her.

Ruby sighed, she was scared but she knew she had to help her friend, "right. Then to the jewelry store."
