Chapter 14 - Dango with Sasuke
Chapter 14
I groaned as Dante and I made out way through the bust streets of Konoha. "Stop groaning already" Dante scolded, annoyed that this was the 7th time. "I can't help it" I stated with a roll of my eyes as I glanced at each shops windows.
There were clothes shops, weapons shops, food shops, sweet shops and restuarants all around. Just thinking of food made my stomach rumble almost silently. "I'm bored" "Then train!" He yelled, stepping in the way of my path and glaring me in the eyes. I was about to retort, when I realised something.
Raising an eyebrow, I asked "What's wrong with you lately? Your getting pissed off at the most stupid things" I couldn't help but notice the twitch at his lips as I said this oh so matter of factly. "Perhaps you should stop moaning at the most stupid things then" My right eye twitched and a low growl escaped past my lips. "Shut up" "Make me"
That was all it took.
I jumped at Dante a glare that could send anyone six feet under, and pushed him onto the ground. As I did so, dust surrounded the area we were at. Many random villagers stopped what they were doing to see what the fuss was about and stared agape as a young girl (me) tackled a massive male wolf (Dante)
Just as I was about to punch the overgrown wolf in the face, his sharp claws digged into my stomach. I winced in pain ever so slightly, but didn't show it and went back to punching Dante in the snout. He growled angrilly and rolled us over. Just as he bared his teeth, ready to take a large bite at my neck, he was kicked away.
I lay silently on the dusty ground for a moment, before standing up to see who interrupted our fight. "Baka" A voice came from behind me. I turned to glanced back over my shoulder, only to have my glare deepen as Sasuke stalked right up to me, a matching glare of his own plastered over his face.
"Excuse me?" I asked, my voice threateningly dark, yet calm at the same time. "Your heard me" He replied, his arms crossed over his chest and a slight smirk forming at the corner of his lips. "You can't just start a fight in the middle of the street with so many people around" "And you care why?.." I asked through a roll of my eyes.
This earned me a scoff "I don't give a damn as to what you do. But I'm sure if the Hokage knew, he wouldn't be so happy" A split moment of silence passed before I spoke again "Once again.. you care why? I'm sure you don't 'give a damn' about what I do, but I'm also sure you don't care about what happens to this village"
Sasuke's glare darkened even further, even though I'm sure it isn't possible for him to be able to do so. "What do you know about what I think?" 'Everything..' "Nothing at all" I lied easily through my teeth with a shrug of my shoulders.
Turning back to the front, I searched around for an extremely large wolf, only to come across nothing. "Sasuke.. did you see where Dante went?" Wanna know what I got or a reply? "Hn"
Off all the times that he has to stop speaking properly, it now - when I need to know what he know most.
I gave a small, tired sigh and began making my way back through the streets, intending to search for my upset companion. I just couldn't understand what was up with him.. one minute he's happy, and the next.. he's upset about every single thing I do. I couldn't help but feel sad and slightly worried. Dante was always here for me.. I had to find out what was wrong.
Suddenly, a hand gripped my arm, bringing me out from my thoughts and stopping me from walking anyway at the same time.
I turned around, only to come face to face with a smirking Sasuke Uchiha.
"Yes Sasuke?" "He seemed angry, leave him be for a while" A glare made it's way onto my face and I snatched my arm back from his grip, taking a step away from his closeness. "Don't order me around Uchiha" He scoffed, a glare of his own appearing "Baka, just come with me" This made me raise an eyebrow, but before I could even voice my thoughts, I was being dragged away.
"H-Hey! What are you doing?" "..Today was my day off and I'm hungry" I clicked my tonge in frustration "Go on your own then..." I trailed off at the end as realisation passed through my mind. "Hey Sasuke.." As we continued walking, Sasuke turned to look my way from over his shoulder "Hn?" "U-ur.. well.." I scolded mysel mentally for stuttering. Never had I stuttered in my life.. well, I was sure I never had done so before. Still.. in front of Sasuke..
Sighing, I decided to get it over with "Well.. is that offer still up about me being able to stay with you for a while?" The wide smirk that appeared on his face didn't go unnoticed. He turned back to the front, not answering me.
Because of this, I thought he didn't want me to stay in his home. "It doesn't matter, I'll go stay with Naruto" I muttered the last part under my breath, but Sasuke must have heared because he suddenly stood to a halt, causing me to bump into his back in the process.
I cupped my nose and winced slightly "Why'd you-" "Stay with me" I rose an eyebrow in question by the Uchiha's sudden change in character. "Excuse me?" He sighed deeply, before continuing dragging me through the streets. I noticed that the sky was becoming darker and stared agape 'Where'd the day go?' Before I could answer my own mental ponder, Sasuke spoke again "You can stay with me. I have a spare room"
I nodded slowly, although he couldn't see me since he was facing the front and muttered a small thanks. We stopped again, but this time Sasuke stopped me just before I bumped into him. "Did you just say thanks?" "..Yeh?" He smirked and shook his head before pointing a finger at the Dango shop in front of us.
My mouth instantly watered and I swear I heared Sasuke chuckle from beside me. Grabbing me, once again!, he led me inside and up to a small booth at the back of the room. I couldn't help but be confused at his sudden actions, so I decided to ask up front "Why are you so out of character?" His reaction was his usual smirk "Why are you so out of character" My eyebrow rose, but I thought about what he was saying and nodded after a moment. "I am out of character, maybe that's why Dante was pissed off"
The waitress, finally noticing us, came over to take our orderes. "Hello, what a nice young couple" I spit out my waiting water and began coughing roughly. While I was having my mini freak out, Sasuke seemed normal abou what the lady had just said and merely smirked. "
"Finally calmed down, I glared up at the waitress "We're not a couple, not even friends. Don't go making assumptions" The woman seemed surprised that I yelled at her like that, but nodded nonetheless "Sorry.. Well, what would you like to order?"
Without even looking at the menu, I stated what I wanted "Dange and Green tea" Sasuke nodded his head in agreement "Same for me" "Alright!" The lady chirped "I'll be back with your order in a moment" With that said, she shuffled her way towards the front of the restuarant.
Sighing, I ran my hand through my hair, ruffling it a bit in the process. "Where've you been for the last two weeks anyway?" Sasuke's asked suddenly out of nowhere. I stared up at him and gave a small shrugg "What normal people do.. I couldn't find you so we slept out in the woods, doing nothing but stare out at the sky all day" he gave me a 'That's normal?' look, but I simply ignored it.
The both of us sat in complete silence for a while longer, although it wasn't at all awkward.
The waiter came back soon enough, our orders in hand. As she finished placing them gently before us, she smiled and scurried off with a small wave of her hand.
Without waiting, I picked up one of the dango sticks and pulled off one of the sphere's. As the dango melted on my tonge, I savoured the flavour for as long as I could before taking a bite of another one. Across from me, Sasuke ate calmly, as I did and drunk from his green tea every now and then.
Once we had finished eating every single dango and drank our drinks, I was just about to place the needed money on the table, when a hand stopped me from doing so. I rose an eyebrow in question "I'll pay" This just made me scoff "If you did, then this would be a date.. and it's not"
He smirked his usual Uchiha smirk and leaned across the table, his breath easily hitting my face. I couldn't hold in the shiver that went down my spine, it freaked me out, but I didn't show it on the outside. However, Sasuke must have seen me, since his smirk widened even further.. though I couldn't see how it was possible.
"You don't like the idea of going on a date with me?" To be honest, his question caught me off guard. I stared at him as though he'd just grown an extra head before giving a shake of my own. "Why would I? I'm not one of your fangirls who would kill to simply be standing next to you Sasuke. I actually couldn't care less" With that said, I placed my share of the bill on the table and stood up to walk away. Sasuke soon enough caught up to me, that annoying smirk still there the whole time.
"Your going the wrong way"
After five minutes of me leading, Sasuke broke our silence by saying I was going the wrong way. I stopped stifly and slowly turned towards him with a menacing glare "And you decided to tell me this after 5 minutes of walking randomly why?" The raven haired boy merely shrugged and began walking down a corner to our let.
He must have noticed that I wasn't following and stopped to see what was wrong. He rose an eyebrow before asking - "Well? you coming or not?"
I sighed and gave a curt nod, following behind Sasuke as he made his way through the now dark streets of Konoha.
A short while later, we came up to a small, two story house. It was cute looking with a dark blue - almost black - front door. He quietly led me inside, which made it seem even more cosy. The living room was medium sized with a black leather sofa, a coffee table before it and a small recliner chair was to the right of the sofa. I didn't understand why he needed so many seats when he probably never had anyone over.
Kicking of his ninja shoes, he plopped himself down on the sofa and propped his feet up on the table. His expression was calm and he looked pretty relaxed not noticing me standing in the doorway rather uncomfortable. "Sasuke.." "Hn?" I rolled my eyes and took my shoes off as well before stalking over to him. "Where can I sleep?"
The corner of his lips twitched up into another smirk and before I knew what was happening, I was pulled down onto the leather sofa as well. I blinked once, twice, a third time and glared at Sasuke.. who was hovering above me, a mischievious glint in his eyes. "What the hell?!" I hollered and mover my right hand to punch him. However, my hand was stopped by his own and was pinned abover my head with my left.
"What is up with you suddenly? Why can't you do something like this to Sakura instead?" I asked through gritted teeth. An eyebrow raised, Sasuke chuckled humorously and leaned closer. His breath brushed against my neck as he spoke "Hn.. She's annoying" "And I'm not?" I retorted, earning me another one of the kids infamous smirks. "Not as annoying. Your.. interesting" 'Intersting?' I wondered how I was so.
"Remember in the Forest of Death? I told you i'd find out what you where hiding sooner or later. How you knew Orochimaru, your strange powers, all of it" I scoffed "What makes you think you'd be able to get anything out of me?" The smirk still on his face, he leaned even closer and closer.. until our noses were touching, he hot breath fanned over me, making me shiver once again. "I'm beginning to think it was a bad idea to not stay at Naruto's" I mumbled to myself under my breath. Sasuke growled darkly as he was close enough to hear me. But, I didn't know why he'd even react like that.
Rolling my eyes, I turned my head to the right and stared at the couch. What confused me most of all, was that I wouldn't even use any of my true strength to push him away. Suddenly, my chin was grabbed roughly and I was forced to stare up into the black abyss of Sasuke's eyes.
"Sasuke, would you mind? I'm tired and I have plans to visit Neji early tomorrow morning" At Neji's name, something passed through his eyes and It looked like he was angry as the scowl plastered over his face deepened even further.
Before I could even react, his face leaned in to close the small gap between us and hot lips met my own. My eyes widened and I was sure they were going to fall out from their sockets at any moment. What was happening? His lips were soft, not what i'd expect from a guy and he tasted like dango.. which we'd previously eaten. His grip on my wrists only tightened as I pulled at them. I felt as though I was weak and couldn't utter the strength to push him away.
Sasuke smirked against my lips at my shocked expression and slowly pulled away, lingering there for a second as though to tease me. I stared up at him, my cheeks feeling hot and stuttered as I spoke, "W-what..?" "What's wrong? Never been kissed before?" His voice was low and even if you weren't looking, you could tell he was amused by my reaction.
Snapping out of it, I forcefully wripped away my wrists from his grasp and pushed at his chest, making him fall off the sofa. Just as he was going down, he tugged on my arm and I fell with him. "Oof!" Was the noise we made at impact with the floor. Well, he made impact with the floor while I made impact with his chest.
Blushing, I stumbled off of him and to my feet before running upstairs to find the spare bedroom, not even sparing the Uchiha a glance as I'd only be embarrassed further.
My mind was filled with crazy thoughts. The main one being 'What's wrong with me?'
