Chapter 28
Eliana Moretti's
Point of View
As I reached the cottage, I put my suitcase down, reaching into my bag searching for the key. I pull it out, closing my bag before unlocking the door and pulling my suitcase inside.
There are so many memories flooding my mind and rushing through my brain like a dam that's walls have just broken.
However no emotions break through, as if they're trapped. I place my bags down inside before closing the door behind me. I stand there dead still, staring at the bold number at the bottom of the newspaper article that I bought at the airport.
I squeeze my eyes shut, trying to stop my mind from overloading as a headache slowly pounds through my head.
I breathe in deeply, before opening my eyes.
Since I've got off the plane, I have been sitting in my cottage on my bed watching a movie to stay distracted, yet it was hard to keep my mind focused, because it felt like I was being pulled to that number sitting on the newspaper.
After the movie finished, even though I don't know how I got full the through hour and a half of it considering I've been finding it very hard to concentrate, I climbed off my bed and moved towards the couch where the newspaper sat.
Once again I sat there contemplating whether or not I should phone the number at the end of the article, trying to figure out who the number belonged to and if it would help with anything if I phoned in.
Maybe if I phone in I can get them to release another article that takes the blame off Harry and the royal family.
I take a deep breath, pulling my phone out of my bag, holing it in my one hand and the newspaper in the other.
I slowly copy the digits, typing them into my phone, letting my finger hover over the call button before pressing down on it. The constant ringing made me believe that the person on the other side wasn't going to answer the call.
Just as I was about to lift the phone up from my ear, I hear a voice ring through the phone.
"David Le Blanc speaking."
I heard an unfamiliar voice pass through the phone, however I remained silent, the words stuck in my throat.
"Is someone there?"
Eliana: Yes sorry
David: How may I help you?
Eliana: I um- I saw the recent article in the newspaper, it had your number attached.
David: Ah! Okay do you have any information?
Eliana: I was hoping you'd be able to write another article?
David: Why is that?
Eliana: Um, I was hoping you'd be able to take the blame off of the Royal Family?
David: I'm afraid I can't do that I am not part of the news. I am a lawyer, may I ask, who am I speaking to.
Eliana: um, Eliana Moretti
David: Sorry, could you please repeat that.
Eliana: It's Eliana Moretti
Davis: As in Fleur and Claude Moretti's Daughter?
Eliana: Yes
David: Wow, Okay. I know this sounds odd, but I think we need to meet in person. We've got a lot to talk about.
Eliana: Yeah, I guess. Would you be able to come to my me?
David: Yes.
After giving him my address and ending the phone call, I didn't know if that was the smartest thing I could have done. However, after he heard my name, it felt like something in him clicked, which made me feel like I had to hear him out for some reason.
I decided to shower before David got here after the flight. I lean down and unzip my suitcase, searching for a pair of comfortable tracksuit pants and a shirt.
After my shower, I landed up pulling on a pair of grey tracksuit pants and one of Harry's white shirts that I had taken with me for whatever reason. After releasing my hair from the bun I tied it in for the shower, I heard a knock and the door and before I had the chance to overthink anything, I walked out of the bathroom and to the door of the cottage.
I stop in front of the door, contemplating once again whether or not it would be a good idea to let a random man into my house. I breathe in before nodding to myself and opening the door slowly.
"David Le Blanc." He says immediately holding out his hand to greet me, to which I accept politely.
"Eliana Moretti." I might be slightly delusional, but I must have heard him gasp.
"Well Eliana, I must say, I'm very glad I've been able to find you." He says. I don't reply, but rather step back and let him inside before following after him to the couch.
He sits politely as I take a seat opposite him, hoping that he would say something so that I didn't have to.
"Sorry, you're probably wondering who I am." He says as I nod slowly in response.
"Kind of."
"I would be too. Anyways, I am your family's lawyer, as in your parents'." He continues, making me tilt my head slightly.
"Pardon me?"
"I've been your parents lawyer for a very long time, including yours." He says making me nod slightly.
"Oh, um."
"I know this must seem as a shock to you, but I've been trying to find you for the last twelve years, filing reports to the police stations and the King and Queen, yet it's been hopeless, as if you had just disappeared after the accident."
"Oh, After that night, I went out to look for them, and when I returned to the house everything was sitting on the lawn in front of the house, so I had nowhere to go. I didn't know anyone was looking for me." I explain to David as he sits writing things down as I speak to him.
"I am so sorry that everything turned out the way it did, however I will do my best to make sure that the police stations and the Royal Family hear about this once again. What happened was absolutely unacceptable, they need to start taking responsibility for their people." My eyes widen as I shake my head.
"No, that's not necessary."
"On the contrary it definitely is. Okay but well come back to that in a bit. Would you possibly be able to tell me what happened after you returned to your house?" I nod slowly as a response, before trying to tell him as much as I could without crying.
That didn't last very long, because as I reached the end of the story, I had tears streaming down my face as David continued to scribble things down on his paper.
"I'm just going to go get a tissue." I say before standing up, leaving him on the couch before I go into the bathroom and close the door.
I take some tissues before dabbing them under my eyes, trying to soak up all the water. Once I've thrown away the tissues, lean forward, holding onto the counter in the bathroom, looking into the mirror. My eyes look puffy and red and I look a bit worn down.
I lean down, splashing my face with cool water, before drying it, hoping it would bring the redness down. I take a deep breath, before opening the door and walking out.
As I walk out the bathroom, I see David in front of the door to the cottage, rather than on the couch like before. I walk curiously over to the front door, I froze in my spot as I look through the see-through door to the other side.
"It's a pleasure to meet you your highness"
David steps back, moving towards the couch as he leaves me at the door.
"Love, are you going to let me in, or just stare at me?" He says, his voice laced with a light hearted chuckle. I stare at him with wide eyes, trying to think whether or not he is here, in front of me. "I'm here Elle." He says softly, reading my mind.
"Harry you can't be here." I say softly, hating as I hear the words coming out my mouth.
"I know the reason that you're here is my Mothers doing and I will not let that be the reason that you're trying to chase me away. " He says with distress.
"You need to go home."
"You are my home." He says taking a step forward. The words knock into me, taking the air out of me.
He never fails to amaze me with his choice of words and the honesty I can hear behind them.
I forget about everything for a second as I jump up and wrap myself around him, relishing in the warmth and safety radiating off of him.
He stumbles back slightly with a light laugh, making me giggle as well.
"I thought I nearly lost you again." He says into my neck.
"I'm sorry. I broke our promise."
"As long as you're still here in my arms, you've done nothing wrong."
I lift my head up after remembering that David is still here. I hop off of Harry, getting him inside before closing the door behind him.
I hold his hand before pulling him to the couch where he sits down next to me. I feel Harry squeeze my hand lightly, making me turn towards him in confusion.
It only takes me a second to see the new emotion flooding through his eyes, one that I haven't ever seen before. I shake my head lightly, dismissing the hostile and jealousy in his eyes before turning towards David who's eyes are trained on the papers in front of him.
"David, this is Harry, my boyfriend." I say as his eyes widen.
"Harry this is David, my parents lawyer- and mine."
