Chapter 10
"Do I look okay?" Harry asked nervously tugging down his tuxedo.
"You look like the most beautiful groom ever." Louis smiled gently at Harry. His heart would melt with fond seeing Harry like this.
"Thank you, Lou." Harry hugged Louis. "For everything." Harry squinted his eyes shut and hid his face against the crook of Louis's neck. He wants to cry cause this feels like a goodbye.
"And thank you Harry for letting me give you everything." Louis kissed the side of Harry's head.
"For once let me be the only one grateful." Harry hadn't yet pulled away from Louis.
"Only one?" Louis's question felt more like an answer and his wasn't talking about being grateful. Harry's his only one and will always be.
Harry didn't want to pull back and he didn't for the next 5 minutes till someone knocked on the door and they both had to let go of their embrace.
"It's time to leave." The wedding planner announced.
"We will be there." She left leaving the two lovers look at each other, not knowing how to communicate the thoughts they hold.
--------
The whole ride to the church, Harry was stuck to Louis's side, holding his hand tight. Louis squeezing it back reassuringly thinking that Harry's nervous for his big day.
But, Harry's not nervous, he's breaking and he can feel it. It's the day he thought would be perfect in his dreams. Does perfection make you feel so insatiable?
Harry didn't even leave his hand when they reached the venue, where Zayn was standing outside, looking at Louis making sure his friend was okay since he had found Louis passed out in some bar this morning.
Louis nodded at Zayn, conveying the message that's he's no longer feeling hungover over the alcohol but his memories with Harry.
"Are you okay, Louis?" Harry looks like he will burst in tears any moment.
"It's your wedding day, I should be asking you this question." Louis says carefully.
"Then are you happy?" Harry tries again and he swallowing down the lump which is rising up this throat.
"Of course I am, it's my husband's wedding day." Louis tries to joke like how God was treating him like.
"Don't just-" Harry squinted his eyes shut, trying his best not to let tears fall down, but they did eventually. "Please."
"Harry, I -" Louis reached forward to wrap his arms around Harry, but the groom just pushed his away.
"No, Louis you don't get it! I can't- can't even kiss Nick without feeling bad and I've yet not let him touch me in intimate ways and today's the day where I choose him to spend the rest of my life with and I won't be able to do that if you don't let me go!" Harry was removing all his frustration on that one person who would never misunderstand it for anything else and will not abandon him for that.
"I'm the one walking you down the aisle, giving you up to him and yet you're wondering that I'm not letting you go." Louis shook his head. "Harry, you can't let go of someone you never had."
All one can hear is Harry's heavy breathing and Louis's sorry fortune making him walk his husband down the aisle for some other man.
"I'm sorry, it's just the wedding jitters." Harry says calmly after a while and maybe if he tries there might be some truth in his lie.
"It's fine. Nows let's get going." Louis says with a finality.
"Nick's parents are excited to see you." Harry smiles wiping his tears away, he wasn't wearing any make up so the only thing that got messed up was his emotions.
"About that." Louis places his hand on Harry's back, gently guiding him to where they were suppose to begin walking. "I'm sorry but I'm not going to stay. I've a plane to catch."
"But- but I can't- do this without you, Lou. It's my wedding day." Harry was about to cry again on how Louis was about to leave.
Louis turns to look at Harry, he caresses his cheek and lifts his chin up to make him look at Louis, "Yes, you can. Today you're marrying the man of your dreams. I believe in you, Harry."
The music started to play and it was their cue to start walking, so Harry just wrapped his arms around Louis's.
Harry looked at Nick, who was looking at him with a smile. Harry remembers how Louis was during their wedding. He wasn't looking, he was cherishing Harry, cherishing every moment of them getting bonded for life.
"You're a lucky man to get Harry as yours for the rest of your life. Don't ever let go of him. Hurt him and no luck will be able to save you from my wrath." Louis said pouring his heart out as he gave Harry's hand in Nick's.
Those words melted Harry's heart and he watched that as soon as the ceremony began, Louis had turned around and left. He feels empty.
Louis reached outside where he finally let his sob out and cry out the pain which was consuming him. He just lost everything he hoped for in vain.
"We are gathered here today on this -" Every sound around Harry dies down, his memories of Louis overpowering.
Harry wasn't having an internal battle, he was having an epiphany.
"Harry Edward Styles, do you take Nick * Grimshaw as your lawfully wedded husband?" The priest looked at Harry, who only heard the word 'husband' coherently and there's only one person in Harry's mind, heart and soul who fit that role.
"Louis." Harry whispered.
"Harry, say yes." Nick nudged him, whisper- yelling hoping the guests didn't hear Harry.
"Louis." Harry said loudly.
"Louis." He said in a firm voice.
"Louis." He said cause he can.
"Louis." He needs him.
"I'm sorry, Nick." Harry apologised and turned around.
He smiled and let out a huge breath, throwing the bouquet of flowers towards Liam, who smiled at Harry, encouraging him to run away cause for the first time Harry looked as if he was free and blissfully happy.
"Woohooo!" Zayn yelled as Harry ran across the room and out the door, "You go, Harry!"
Nick tried to go after Harry, but Liam and Zayn stood in front of him, "We haven't met properly, I'm Liam." Liam smiled at Nick while Zayn gripped Nick's shoulder a bit too tight.
Harry looked around the church to look for Louis, but he wasn't there, "Shit!" He ran his hand through his hair only to curse again cause his hair was covered in hair gel. "Where are you? Where are you- oh, yes!" What an idiot, Louis must be at the apartment, hopefully.
Harry's lungs burned as he pushed his legs faster and faster all while praying that Louis hadn't left yet.
He was panting when he barged in Louis's room.
Louis had tear strained cheek and red eyes as he packed away his belongings, he looked up in shock, "Harry, what -" he was cut off by Harry slamming their lips together and threw himself at Louis.
The sudden impact made Louis fall back on the mattress with Harry on top of him. This must be a dream, there's no way in hell Harry's making out with him on his wedding day.
"You came back?" Louis asked resting his forehead against Harry's with a smile on his face, but didn't open his eyes, "Please tell me this isn't a dream." He whispered.
"Open your eyes, Lou." Harry said in Louis's ear, grinning when he got to see those blue eyes, which had captured his heart.
Louis opened his eyes to peer up at Harry, "You came back.."
"Louis, my whole life I had left like an outsider, never fitting in anywhere I went so I resolved into dreaming that there would be a day when I could finally feel complete." Harry's eyes started watering. "There was a time where I had lost the strength to keep hoping and believing, I didn't even know why was even born? Or what my purpose was?" Tears started to stream down his face. "Dreaming was the only thing that was keeping me alive and then you came along with feelings I've never felt before, never knew that getting what I wanted for so long would make me so scared. You're all I ever wanted, ever needed and I was so scared to lose you, so I thought if I don't give in to my true feelings, I'll protect myself from getting hurt. But, leaving you was more painful. Nick was just something I dreamt of when I didn't know the real world. You're my world, Louis and I'm half a heart without you." The confession made him cry his heart out on Louis's chest. It felt so good to have it all in the open.
"I love you so much, Harry." Louis lifted Harry's face up and kissed him passionately, hoping that Harry could feel Louis's love through it. "You make this feel like home."
"I love you too." Harry said and kissed Louis back. After god knows how long, they stopped their making out, "I hope you're not leaving" Harry smiled at Louis.
"No, I'm doing whatever you tell me do to." Louis kissed Harry's temple feeling content right there and then with Harry in his arms.
"Let's get married then! Properly and only us." Harry smiled against Louis's lips. "In Vegas"
Louis laughed, "Classic."
"Well classic or not, you have to.." Harry leaned in closer to Louis's ear to whisper seductively, "cause I can't wait for our honeymoon, Mr. Tomlinson."
"Your wish is my command, Mr. Tomlinson."
