It felt like I've been walking for weeks my hooves are killing me. I don't have time to rest I must make it to a safe location to live through the winter. I look up at the already setting sun " we made it pretty far today Phoenix." I thought to myself. I see a movement in the brush "who's there?!" I whinny loudly. What would anyone want with a little filly like me ? " Ah little filly out on her own? Where's your herd little one?" the big mare said to me. Her dark brown eyes stare right at me, I try to look away but I can feel her looking at me. " I don't have a herd my family was taken by hunters." I say not making eye contact with this strange mare. "Well I'd stay with you for tonight or until you find another herd" She said with little excitement. " You'd do that for me ?" I ask her completely full of hope. " I don't like death little one I wouldn't do this for just anyone there's something special about you that makes me feel that I should care for you" She said nudging me. We walked through the forest and came upon a little cave system. "Alright we'll rest here for the night" she said. We both walked into the cave. I drank some of the dripping cave water. " I never got your name ma'am." I said to her. She was watching me " oh yeah it's Dakota, and yours ?" she quietly asked. " Phoenix" I said with my mouth full of water.
