3┊FUCK SPIDERMAN
"SO...YOU AND PETER, HUH?" When the locker four inches away from her face slammed shut, Mitzi's face remained plain and to anyone else she looked bored, but in their long years of friendship, Imane already knew she was mentally plotting something.
"Shut up and keep walking." Yuriko let out a snort from behind her best friend before covering it up with a cough.
Mitzi smirked and pushed off the locker, walking to the left of Imane while Yuriko stayed to the right. "Ah, avoidance. Seems to be a common pattern between the two of you, you know that?"
"Peter is naturally a very skittish person, though." Yuri butted into Mitzi's interrogation and cuddled the arm Imane wrapped around her shoulder with a smug smile.
"Thank you, Yuri. Because unlike some people, not every interaction I have with a man is a problem." Imane pointed out accusingly, Mitzi rolled her eyes.
"Any and every interaction with men is a headache waiting to happen." The two other girls laughed, knowing Mitzi was not joking in the slightest.
Their laughter was cut short when a large body hurled through the middle of them, nearly knocking Yuri on her ass and dropping all Imane's books straight to the ground. It wasn't until a familiar string of apologies mixed with stuttering rang in her ears did Imane realize who had caused a crash in the middle of the hallway.
"Oh-oh my god! I'm so sorry! Imane? Holy shit. I-I didn't mean to—Yuriko, are you okay? Mitzi, please don't kill me, it was an accident!" The trio barely knew what was going on as Peter scrambled to pick up the books on the school floors, placed a hand on Yuri's shoulder to apologize before holding his hands up in defense against Mitzi; his Spider-Man work could not be starting if the looming threat of Mirium Solis was hanging over his head.
"My point exactly." Mitzi muttered lowly enough for the girls to hear, Peter's ears perked up at whispers but, not knowing the context, he ignored it for the time being.
Peter handed everything to Imane and began speed walking backwards, "I'm so sorry- again but I gotta go, sorry ladies!" Were the only things heard from the frantic mess of a teenager as he rushed out the doors of Midtown High.
After a beat of silence between the trio, Yuri began giggling, "I see why you like him, Imane. Very cute and...awkward."
"Okay, where are these rumors coming from? I do not like Peter Parker now and I didn't when I was six either." She exclaimed, walking slightly ahead of the group to push open the doors of the school and walk in the direction of the nearest train station.
"Oooh, miss Morris, you better watch your mouth. Yuriko may not have been around when you were six but I sure as hell was and all I gotta say is, you most certainly had a crush on Peter Parker." Imane's jaw dropped at Mitzi's words before scoffing and swiping her metrocard.
"First of all—" she stopped talking and watched Mitzi ducked under the metal turnstile before walking over to the far right to open the emergency door for Yuriko who was far too boujee to have her bottom anywhere near the New York City subway floors, in her words. Only the devil knows what those floors have seen.
"What?" The two girls questioned Imane's side eye.
"Did you not fill your metrocard?"
Yuri and Mitzi slowly turned their heads, making confused eye contact before turning back to their mutual friend.
"Oh hell no, you've been in that fancy school for too damn long, did you forget how this works, Queen Elizabeth?" Imane let out a fake laugh and raised one hand in defense.
"No, no, don't start. I remember, okay? No empty subway carts, don't make eye contact with people screaming and yelling, don't wear open toed shoes—I get it." She let out a grateful breath upon hearing the train squeaking loudly against each other's metals as it slowed to a stop in front of them, not wanting to continue any conversations about her old life again.
And where you want distractions, you get Yuriko. You couldn't ask her a simple question without the girl going on thirty five different stories as well as the backstory to each one. With all her talking came questions which led to more answers and meant that the trio of women never didn't have something to talk about. Their conversations stayed lively and smiles graced their lips every moment they were together.
People always say trios never work out because there's an uneven number, two will always be closer. But on the contrary, that's what brought them together. Imane could hang out with Mitzi alone without Yuriko having to worry about being left out. Yuriko and Mitzi spent more time together in high school while Imane had to stay at her fancy little private school but she never worried or became jealous of it. Imane loves her friends as much as they love her and sometimes Yuriko isn't the best for serious conversation so she'll go to Mitzi, but Mitzi can sometimes be a bit rude which is where Yuri comes in.
Where there's trust, the space for jealousy becomes smaller and smaller.
And that is where friendship blooms.
"Do you think Spider-Man's hot?" Yuri asked, Mitzi and Imane snapped their heads towards her as they walked up and out of the stairs of the train station. "...What?"
Imane and Mitzi shared a look before shaking their heads and continuing to walk. "Nothing."
"Oh come on, don't judge me. He could be hot and we just don't know it!"
"Yuri...he has a mask over his head. What if he's bald?" Mitzi said. Despite each other promising not to judge each other, this was one thing Mitzi could not listen to.
"What's wrong with bald men?" Yuri questioned with a huff, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Their inability to grow hair." Mitzi deadpanned as Imane snorted and slapped her hand over her mouth, leaning against the nearest building while nearly tipping over in laughter. Yuriko let out a noise of shock as her jaw dropped and slapped her friend's arm playfully, fighting the urge to let the laugh building up in her chest release itself.
"Mitzi, that's so mean!"
She raised her hand in defense, "Listen i'm just saying, is it a coincidence that every man with a multitude of "ism's" after his opinions is always bald? Kinda suspicious if you ask me."
Imane composed herself for a moment and went silent, deep in thought, "You know...i think you might be right, actually."
"I'm always right, I'm a taurus." Mitzi smiled smugly
"Enough of this, Mitzi, I beg of you." Imane threw her head back and closed her eyes.
"Hey, no actually, Jupiters conjunction in virgo this month means that I actually have no clue what I'm talking about and am completely bullshitting you, I can't believe you're still listening to me. I am a liar." Yuri blabbered, every sentence after "this month" speeding up the longer she continued talking.
Usually, Mitzi or Imane would've put their hand over her mouth to end her rambling but this time, the two took a different approach.
"Oh my god, is that Spider-man?!" Imane exclaimed, her hand pointing at a random building from where the stood in the middle of Times Square. Her announcement, although fake, garnered the attention of nearby pedestrians who looked up as well.
Yuri snapped her neck, "Where? Where? Does my hair look good?!" The other two covered their mouths and leaned towards each other as they snickered at the young Yuri who looked around the sky like a mad man until she gasped and pointed.
"He's right there!" Mitzi and Imane shared a confused look before following Yuri's finger and seeing the masked vigilante who was causing quite the controversy, flinging across buildings and light posts around Times Square with a bouquet of flowers in his arms.
"What the fu—"
"Mr Spider-Man, hi!" Yuri exclaimed excitedly flapping her arms around like a headless chicken. Surprisingly enough, she actually caught his attention.
Yuri stepped back between her friends and gripped the two girls with the strength of Hercules himself pumping through her veins. When a body covered in red and black landed in front of them holding a large bouquet of different flowers, she squealed and squeezed her friends even tighter.
"Oh what a beautiful set of friends we have here, ladies! One for you," He gave a rose to Yuri who nearly passed out on the spot, "One for you," He handed Mitzi a daisy as she stared at him with an unimpressed look.
And finally, his attention was on Imane, "Two for the prettiest woman I've laid my eyes on." As hard as she tried to fight the smile growing on her lips, Imane accepted the beautiful blue flowers known as "Forget-Me-Nots" with a grin she tried to hide under her hair.
In her moments of shock, she didn't think to recognize the voice of the boy she'd known since childhood.
"And to all residents of New York City, have a flower and an amazing day!" The hero shouted loudly as he webbed up a new building and dropped all the flowers down to the people below once he reached high altitude.
People cheered happily at the man the media had been trying to paint as a villain since he made his debut and large crowds gathered to collect the flowers. Strangers had even come up to the girls to congratulate them on catching the eye of New York City's new hero, but Mitzi merely ignored them and gave the flower to a jittery Yuri.
"Oh...my...god. Imane you just—"
Imane made a noise of protest, "Nope! Nope, nope, don't say anything." she made a closing motion with her hand
"But—"
"Uh- but nothing."
"No but-!"
"No, no, no, no."
"Imane!" Yuri whined, only to be met with Imane's hand over her mouth
"Shh. Fuck Spider-Man." She said in a whisper to add dramatic effect, Yuri nodded to get Imane's hand off her mouth.
"Yeah...fuck Spider-man alright."
"Yuri!"
