Distance
Jin sits on a wooden chair, gold and embarks engraved on it.
Such a fine chair, just like the other furniture in the room. As expected for the palace.
The man sits still, thoughts rumble in his head.
As someone who is expected to do public speaking as a royal everyday, why can't he have thoughts on a simple sentence given by a friend?
"Well you seem so troubled," A familiar voice peeked through the room. Then came one of the courtiers, Jeon Jungkook.
But he pauses, "Wait. Are you talking to—"
"Why did she ask you to be his boyfriend or anything?" The courtier starts laughing. "If you guys ever get married, have kids—I better be the godfather okay? It is I who brought you together." Jungkook's so dramatic.
"Yeah yeah," The prince rolls his eyes. "Through the amazing app called 'Match' I met my soulmate." He was now mocking the courtier.
However, his courtier only laughs before grabbing one of the biscuits on the table that are untouched.
"Well I think I certainly met mine," Jungkook responds.
"You're so head over heels with that Park person," the prince notes while the courtier just shrugs.
But then Jungkook remembers something. The reason he was looking for Jin.
"Oh right! Princess Jen—"
"Oh there you are!" It was Princess Jennie, dressed in designer clothes, with grace and style. Expected for the 17-year-old, Duchess of Incheon.
"I was looking everywhere for you!" she exclaimed, walking into the almost empty living room.
"Oh," her mouth forms an 'O' upon seeing Jungkook. "I see Jungkook has found you. Anyway, do you want to join us and play—"
"No."
The prince says, with a stone expression.
"But Yugyeo—"
"No."
"Yongsun—"
"No."
"You know how rarely they visit the pa—"
"No." The word is repeated. Although, this time with more pressure.
The gold and white living room becomes silent. Jungkook keeps his mouth shut as well.
Jennie merely eyes the courtier for backup, but it seems like she won't be getting any.
The only thing loud in the room was Jin's intimidating aura as he sits on his chair.
The Duchess of Incheon frowns. Looks like she lost a battle, once again.
Attempting to get back her pride, she pivots her heel and leaves the room. Muttering, "You're so distant cousin," before walking through the halls.
"So... what were you troubled about earlier? The phone...? Maybe I can be of assistance?" Jungkook speaks up, trying to pick up the dead atmosphere.
This makes Jin groan. "Right... the thing with—I don't know how to reply."
"Let me see." Jin hands over his phone to the younger, and as the younger read the sentence on screen, he knew exactly why the prince couldn't answer it.
"Do you want me to answer this for you? I think you can't give your thoughts on it 'cause—You know what? I'll answer it for you. Gimme a sec."
The younger began typing on the keyboard of the phone.
"Alright," Jungkook smiles once pressing send. "I think it's a pretty decent answer. Considering that you're a medicine student, this is a brilliant answer!"
"Let me see?" Jin snatches his phone.
"Oh?" The prince is shocked. "This is a good answer!"
