Blood is thicker than water
Jiyeon sighed as she stared into her book.
Fuck... Thoughts on blood is thicker than water...
Damn it! She couldn't think with the discord in the background. Loud screams of a child heard within the distance as a mother tries to calm them down by stuffing food in their mouth.
Entrance exams are hard. So here is Jiyeon working her ass off to pass the Hanyang University Entrance Exam.
"I told you, you should study at a library and not a Burger joint," Jimin said, as he placed a tray filled with food on the table beside Jiyeon's.
"I have a shift in 30 minutes, Jimin. I can't leave. The expenses on the travel—I'll just waste money!"
Jimin sighed, sitting on the chair in front of her as he hugged the empty tray in his hand.
"It's a shame Hanyang doesn't accept scholarships... You should really try for USK. At least they have scholarships there and you don't have to save every penny to go to Hanyang that costs millions—"
"How many times do I have to tell you Chim? I don't want to go to USK." USK, the prestigious school of University of South Korea. "And you know why—"
"Cuz you don't like royals—"
"Exactly. And where do most of them study?"
Jimin rolls his eyes, "In USK..."
"But USK is your best bet if you want to be a lawyer, they teach good politics there considering they teach the Royal fami—"
The man is put on pause.
Jiyeon's eyes glaring intensely at him.
He gulps.
"JIMIN! WE HAVE A NEW ORDER!"
Thank god the chef saved him from Jiyeon's wrath.
"Alright. Alright. Chill babe," Jimin jokes, trying to let Jiyeon cool down. "If you want Hanyang then go. You do you—"
Buzzz
"Oh look, I think your virtual boyfriend just texted. Gotta go," Jimin peeked into the buzzing phone of Jiyeon before slithering off to get back to work.
And in contrast to Jiyeon's irritated feeling earlier, she's now excited!
She giggles. Taking her phone and seeing a message she's always been anticipating.
Choi Hyuntae: Hey stranger.
Jiyeon giggles once more.
Park Jiyeon: Hello to you too, stranger.
Choi Hyuntae: Wait... It's almost 4. Aren't you at work?
Park Jiyeon: It's 3:49. I have time to spare.
Choi Hyuntae: Wow Thanks.
Park Jiyeon: So what's up?
Choi Hyuntae: Oh wait! Since you're at that Burger joint I have a joke.
Park Jiyeon: Oh... boi...
Choi Hyuntae: What color do Burgers like?
Park Jiyeon: 😒
Choi Hyuntae: Come on now, be enthusiastic.
Jiyeon chuckles.
Park Jiyeon: Alright. What?
Choi Hyuntae: Burgundy.😂😂😂
...
Haha very funny.
Although, how peculiar... Jiyeon is silently snickering from her seat.
Choi Hyuntae's charm works in mysterious ways.
Choi Jiyeon: Okay wait. Lemme tell my joke detector.
"Hey Jimin!" Jiyeon calls the waiter two tables away.
"This'll be quick. What color do Burgers like?"
"Yeah...?"
"Burgundy."
Snickering and wheezing is heard from the man earning weird stares from people.
Park Jiyeon: He laughed. I guess that joke passes.
Choi Hyuntae: What can I say? I'm a joke expert.
Park Jiyeon: Well, a dad joke expert to me.
Choi Hyuntae: Excuse me?
"Ahhh shit. Damn you Jiyeon, you know my laugh tolerance is way on the ground. You do not just throw jokes like that." Jimin groans, still giggling. On the other hand, Jiyeon only shrugs, smirking.
Jiyeon returns to her phone, loving today's conversation with Hyuntae.
Hyuntae, her text mate for 2 years now, a guy she met on this app called 'Match' but never really met in real life.
The only number she anticipates, texting her everyday.
---
Jiyeon's thoughts drift back to what she was studying earlier.
Park Jiyeon: Hey Hyunnie.
Choi Hyuntae: Yes Yeonnie?
Park Jiyeon: 🤢🤢🤢
Choi Hyuntae: 🤮🤮🤮
Park Jiyeon: 😂
Park Jiyeon: Okay, but this is serious now. I have something to ask you.
Choi Hyuntae: Alright. Hit me.
Park Jiyeon: What are your thoughts on Blood is thicker than water?
1 second
2 second
3 second
4 second
Park Jiyeon: Hello?
"Jiyeonnie your shift is up!" Jimin calls from the kitchen.
Another shift... Even though she already had one earlier. Jiyeon groans. The things she do, to become a lawyer.
