shopping adventures (3)

I change into a pair of white pants and a floral top. I'm running a brush through my hair when  a knock sounds on bedroom's door.

I open the door to find a butler there. "Yes?" I ask.

"The prince awaits your presence in his car." He tells me.

"Okay. Thank you." I tell him and go back into the room to grab my phone.

I go down the stairs to the entrance and step out into the sun. The Mercedes is parked at the foot of the steps. A guard opens the passenger door for me and slide in.

I start to turn towards him but he reaches over and gives me a quick kiss before starting to drive leaving me out of breath.

"Hey!" I say absentmindedly and tug on my seatbelt as I buckle it. Once I'm done, I ask. "How was your meeting?"

He sighs. "Okay, I guess. Same as all the others."

I look out of the window at the cars rushing past us, when a thought strikes me. "How come there were guards escorting us from the airport but not shopping?"

"They are just a couple cars back, so it isn't obvious." He replies and then adds. "Check the glove compartment."

I lean forward and push the lever to open it. I find a box in it, when I turn it over it says Ray Ban. I look at William and ask.

"Sunglasses?"

He smirks. "Did you really think that you can just walk into a store and do your shopping like you used to?"

I frown. "What is that supposed to mean?"

His smirk grows wider. "Remember that man from the pharmacy?"

The day comes rushing back to me. It was before we got married. I had gone out to get mom's medicine and he had followed me there, giving the man there a heart attack.

"You mean a disguise?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.

"You can say." He stops the car in the parking lot and kisses my cheek before putting on his own glasses.

"You look like James Bond." I comment.

He laughs and says. "Well, let's dot this then."

I put on my glasses and get out of the car. I looked around expecting to find people staring at me but everyone is going about their business as before.

I heave a sigh of relief and follow William towards the entrance of Target. He stops near the rows of carts and asks. "Do we need one?"

"Nah! No really." I tell him and start walking towards the aisles with him right behind me.

"Do you want to get something or...?" I ask him.

"Right! I'll just leave you to it. Call me when you're done." He kisses my forehead and walks away. I start walking looking for the right section." I start to walk past one when a packet catches my eye, making me realize that I'm in the right place.

I walk amongst the racks of pads and look for the ones I need. When I find the right ones, I pick up two packs and put them in a brown paper bag and then walk towards the till, pulling out my phone.

I dial my husband's number and put it to my phone. He picks up almost at once.

"I'm done." I say.

"Where are you?" He asks me.

I look around to see that I'm standing amongst chips racks. "I'm in the chips section. Where're you?"

"I'll meet you there." He ends the call.

I look around and my roaming eyes land on something on the very top shelf. It's Doritos! My mouth starts to water and unconsciously I walk towards them. I reach up to grab them but I can't reach them.

"What're you doing?" William asks.

I spin around. "I want Doritos but I can't reach them."

He thinks for a minute and then turns to me. "How eager are you to get some?"

"Umm...Really eager." I reply.

"Alright then!" With this he comes to stand in front of me and crouches down. I stand there looking down at him, confused.

"What are you doing?" I ask.

"Helping you get your chips." He replies. I walk over to him so that we're face to face. He stands up and explains.

"Climb on! That's the only way we can reach them."

I gap at him. "Come on! We can get a salesman to take them down for us."

He stays put. "What? You don't trust me?"

"I do trust you, just not to this extent." I tell him.

"Whatever. Let's do this." He crouches down again.

I take a deep breath and push my glasses into my hair before moving forward only to stop with my hands a few inches away from his shoulders. Without a second thought I push myself onto his shoulders and almost at once he stands up making me squeal.

"Stop screaming and just get what you want." He says and from the way he's talking, it seems as if he's holding a feather instead of me on his shoulders.

I reach out and grab a few packets and then call down. "Got them."

He shakes his shoulders, throwing me off balance and I scream as I plummet to the ground. But instead of breaking my back he catches me bridal style.

"Is everything alright?" I turn my head to see that it's an old man.

William sets down saying. "Yes, sir. Sorry to disturb you."

The man walks away shaking his head and the moment he's out of sight, we both burst out laughing. I throw my arms around his neck and laugh into his shoulder.

When we pull away he presses his lips to mine. When we pull away I say. "It wasn't that bad."

I slip my hand into his and pull him towards the tills, so that we can pay for the things we brought. I choose one of the empty tills and place the things on it. We pay for them and then I grab the bags as we walk back to the car.

This time I spot the squad car that escorted us. It's parked a few cars down ours and the guards are getting in.

"You promised me lunch!" I remind him when we're on the road again.

The car stops at a traffic light, so he turns towards me. "Sure, what do you want?"

"I'm craving pasta right now." I reply.

The car starts moving again. "If pasta is what you want, then pasta is what you'll get."

We stop outside a restaurant called "Pasta Heaven." I unbuckle myself and step out. William leads the way in and a waiter leads us to a table near the window, but William objects.

"Can we please have a table away from the window?"

Our new table is set in a corner away from most of the people. It's a table for four, so he sits next to me and the waiter hands us our menus.

After a few minutes, he asks me. "What do you want?"

"Their servings look quite big, we should just get one and split it." I say and then add. "How about Fettuccine Alfredo?"

He sets down his menu. "That's good. How about that and some garlic bread?"

I nod. "Yeah. That's it."

The waiter comes back and we place our order. After serving us our drinks he walks away, leaving us alone. I feel my phone vibrate, so I pull it out to find an alarm ringing which I don't even remember setting.

I switch it off and then look up only to find him already looking at me.

"Wha-?" I start to ask but he stops me by pressing his lips to mine. When we pull away, I'm smiling like an idiot.

I force on a straight face when the waiter comes back with our order. I pick up a piece of garlic bread and take a bite when William says.

"So, Harrison and Anna, huh?"

This makes me choke on the bread. "What?!"

"He asked for today off because he had plans with her. Didn't she mention it to you?" He asks.

"She did. She did tell me but that was on the day of the wedding. That was that last time I saw her, I still haven't seen her at the palace. I didn't know that they were...a thing."

"Well, they are." He tells me.

"This is really weird." I say as I help myself to some pasta.

"What's weird?" He asks.

I swallow and then reply. "Discussing girly things with you."

He lowers his glass and then says. "My colleague dating your friend, is weird?"

I nod. "Maybe."

He smiles and leans back in his chair while I continue to eat. I've eaten half of it when suddenly he snatches my fork from and starts eating.

I shake my head. "You know you can use your own fork."

He swallows and then replies. "I can but I don't want to."

"You're hopeless." I tell him as I pick up his fork and start eating.

------

When we get back, I turn to him. "Thanks. I had a great day."

He smirks. "Good because tomorrow we have our first press conference."

I stare at him in disbelief and groan to let him know that I'm against this. He gets out of the car laughing and then walks over to open my door for me.

When I step out, he kisses my forehead and says. "You're not thinking of backing out, are you?"

Hearing him say this makes me stand up taller and flip my hair over a shoulder before saying. "No, your highness. I'm not."

I don't know if "Pasta Heaven" actually exists or not, I just made it up.

Also, thank you so much for all the reads, votes and comments! Keep it up :)

A couple of people were curious about how fast I update. I update every three or four days. That  is if I don't have to travel or if something unexpected doesn't pop up. But otherwise I'm a fast updater because I hate leaving stories incomplete.

read, vote & comment!
