back home (34)
William got back home yesterday after spending two weeks at the hospital. He's decided to take it easy another week and let himself rest. Hospitals tend to freak me out, so I'm glad that I don't have to spend any more time in one.
I'm pulling my hair back into a ponytail when I hear the shower stop running. I've finished tying up my hair when I hear him call out.
"I think I'm going to need your help."
I set down the hair brush and turn around to find William standing near the bathroom door, holding his shirt in his hand. His chest is bare and I can see the pink cuts which have started to heal.
I walk over to him and take the shirt from his hand before holding it out for him so that he can easily slide his arms into it. Once he has the shirt on he turns around so that I can button it up for him.
After finishing with the last button I start to pull my hands away but he holds them there and plants a feathery kiss on my lips. I let him fold me into his arms and hold me. He kisses my forehead and pulls away, saying.
"I'm starving. I'm going down for breakfast. You should eat more now since I don't think you've eaten much in the last few days."
I love this protective and concerned side of Will more than anything. "I'll be downstairs in a minute."
He leaves the room and I start to walk to the wardrobe to change into a more appropriate outfit. I switch William's shirt for a hoodie that has always been loose. But my eight months pregnant tummy sticks out like a ball under it.
When I walk into the dining room, William is the only one there going through a newspaper. I take my seat and help myself to my usual breakfast, buttered toast and orange juice.
I'm half way through my second toast when the king walks in and thumps his son on his back making Will wince.
"I've still not fully healed you know." Will told him as he sat down.
"Of course you haven't. You're human after all." He says as a butler pours tea into his cup.
"Glad you think that because your sister doesn't." Will's tone was almost a whisper but I heard it making me choke on my juice. Luckily, the king had been busy stirring sugar into his tea.
"Hmm? Did you say something? I thought I heard you mention Molly." He says.
"No. I was just saying that it's been a long time since I heard from her." William says.
I know that he's not going to tell his father about the message. At least not till he has visited his mother's grave.
His statement is followed by silence which provides me with an opportunity to return my attention to my toast.
"Ah! I almost forgot." Ronald says, making me look up. "Molly called while you were in hospital. She was really concerned about you."
I watch as William clenches his fist and opens it. He does this several times before replying.
"I'm really glad she cares for me."
Ronald smiles at his son and the turns his attention to the newspaper in front of him. It hurts to just even think that he's oblivious to the fact that someone's trying to ruin his son's life.
When he finally leaves after telling William to take it easy for the day and not stress himself out too much. The moment he leaves the room, I get up from my seat and go sit next to William. He's staring at the wall in front of him just like he was two minutes ago.
I place a hand on his uninjured arm which makes him realise my presence.
"Are you alright?" I ask him.
"What do you think?" He asks, rather rudely making me withdraw my hand from his arm.
He realises his mistake and turns to me. "Hey! I'm really sorry." He kisses my head before continuing. "I'm just so pissed off at dad for not realising Molly's motives.
"But she's his sis..." He stops me. "Not the 'she's his sister' talk again."
This makes me smile and a sudden question pops into my head. "Have you ever wanted a sibling?"
He nods. "When I was fifteen I always used to imagine what it would be like to have a younger sister. What it would be like to protect her? I just wanted to feel the older brother protectiveness. It didn't necessarily have to be a sister. But then after Molly's attempt to marry me to her daughter I hated the idea of having any siblings."
"Poor you." I say taking hold of his and rubbing it.
He turns to look at me. "Not really because since I met you, I have got to experience that feeling of protectiveness I always wanted to feel."
"For example...?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.
"For example, when you got kidnapped by my satanic stepmother. For example, when you got pregnant with our children."
He leans forward and our lips meet. I know that we're both smiling like idiots as his fingers move into my hair and I rub his good arm.
We pull apart just in time as Helen enters with Sarah right behind her. She smiles when her eyes land on me but when she sees William she shies away into her mother's side.
"I'm so glad you're finally back. There's so much work piled up." She tells me before turning to William. "By the way, Harrison's on his way."
This makes William groan and Sarah giggles. He looks at her and asks. "A prince deserves a break, right?"
She vigorously nods her head making William's smile broaden. I get up from my seat and join Helen at the other end of the table where she has several brochures piled in front of her along with some files.
She's showing me options for charities that I can support when Harrison walks in with his hair looking as if he ran out of time to calm it down.
"Sorry I got held up." He says, sitting down across from William and setting his laptop on the table.
After working for a while I start to get hungry again. I ask the butler present to call a housemaid. But after a few minutes it's Anna who walks in.
"Someone asked for me?" She asks.
" Yeah, I did. Though, I didn't ask him to get you but I need M&Ms." I tell her.
"Oh! That's okay. I was on my way down to the kitchen. I'll get them for you." With this she turns to leave pausing by Harrison's chair and lightly touching his shoulder. But I see the smile on his face which assures me that they're happy together.
After a few minutes she returns with my packet of M&Ms which she hands me. I tear it open and pop a few into my mouth. I start to reach for more when I'm reminded of Sarah. I can see that she wants some too.
So, I just push the packet across the table towards her. She hesitates and looks at her mother, who's busy going through some papers.
"Go ahead." I tell her and she takes a few.
The next two hours pass with both of us sharing three packets of chocolate. By time they leave I'm overdosing on chocolate.
I stretch out my arms and then look over at William who's still typing something on his laptop. After a few seconds he closes it, saying.
"Harrison just told me that they're holding this party at the company offices like they do every year. Do you want to go? It's this Friday evening."
I smile as I'm reminded to something. "Well, the last one didn't go all that well. Did it?"
He smiles too. "No. It didn't. But I promise not to let you out of my sight even for a second. That is if you agree to go."
"Of course, I will." I tell him.
This chapter is just a filler and I'm going to get the story going now. The next chapter MIGHT be longer than the usual length. Though, I don't know as I haven't started working on it yet.
Here are a few reminders:
-Please if there are any songs that you know of which fit this story or an event or a character please do let me know, so that I can add it to the playlist. I only have a handful of suggestions. More please!
-If you have any confusions please do ask since I know that there are a few references from its predecessor.
Thank you so much for all your support :)
