4 days later

Levy POV 

I'd had enough. Lucy wasn't telling me something. It was really pissing me off. Lately, I've been a little aggressive. Almost all of us have. Lucy was especially bad. She was worse than Natsu and Gray, who began to fight more violently. She would challenge Erza, me or anyone else to a fight. If she challenged any of the slayers or Sea-Dragons, they'd agree, the humans and mermaids, they'd cower.

I felt the strong urge to rip my best friend's throat our whenever she challenged Gajeel. The exceeds were usually hiding.

I stalked up to her. She had just beaten the crap outa Gray.

"Lu-chan? Could I talk to you, privately? No fighting though. Please." I gritted my teeth, trying not to attack everyone on the ship. She dove in the water, I followed . I felt my wings spread as I slowed my decent. I rubbed the gills on the side of my neck. Lucy waited on the bottem for me. 

"What?" She said aggressively.

"What's been going on? All the slayers and Sea-Dragons have been acting like bitches. And you've been acting weird for a few days now. What have you not been telling us." She shifted uncomfortably.

"D-do you know what happens tomorrow?" She asked. Her eyes darting back and forth.

"No. Please tell me."

"Do- do you remember when we all went ballistic for a month? When we were 12?"

"Of coarse. Pre-pubescent mating season wh- no. No. You don't mean- it's no. Why now? Oh fuck." I cursed. "It's tomorrow." She nodded. "W-who do you think I'm going after? What will the slayers do? Don't they go through it aswell?"

"The slayers will be going through the same thing. And I think I know who you're gonna choose, I'm sure he'll be delighted." 

I felt my face warming.

"W-who?" I asked. I knew who I liked.

"Begins with a G and ends with a ajeel." 

"LU-CHAN!" She keeled over and was laughing her tail off. "Though I know who's going after you." I grinned evilly.

"W-who?" She froze.

"A certain Fire-Dragon slayer Prince pirate captain." She growled. I giggled. "Let's head to the top. They probably think we're killing eachother." She nodded her head in agreement.

When we got to the top, it was pitch black. We made a silent agreement to not hold anything against eachother after the season was over. We both creeped into  our rooms. Lucy told me to lock my window, she told me about the Natsu incident. I did. I locked my door tight and barricaded it. I didn't want any surprise guests.

Here's what I know about the season:

There are 6 stages:

Stage 1: Clingy

The males get really clingy and open towards their preferred female. If they are not satisfied after the season, they will not complete stage 5 and they will under go the next season. They get jealous easily and will listen very closely. The females will begin to choose their preferred suitor.

Stage 2: Agression

The males and females become extremely aggressive, the females especially, and will fight anything that gets too close, about 5 feet. Males become even more protective.

Stage 3: Rest period

This period is where the pair will not be effected by the season. It is another test of loyalty because it is a time for either party to change their mind.

Stage 4: Flirting 

The males and females will still be aggressive, but will pay even more attention to their partner. The female usually plays hard to get to test the males loyalty but at times the gender role can be switched. They will become even more clingy. The males are also prone to gold fever and tend to enjoy flashing their gold and gems to the females. The females also tend to enjoy gifting the males with gold. Probably because that gold will become theirs soon enough anyway because mate's share their hoards.

Stage 5: Dominance 

The pair will turn their aggression on eachother and battle for dominance, the Male is usually the one dominant but those statistics have changed dramatically over the past few years. They will not kill each other, but they may seriously injure each other. If one of the partners is injured badly enough, they will stop fighting and the other will care for them

Stage 6: Marking 

The pair will endurance a ritual where they will either place a mark on eachother or exchange special items. They will hide away from all others and in seclusion, become one spiritually. They will never leave or cheat on each other due to a hormone  after marking, and because dragons and demons are monogamous, they will have a deep bond. Some pairs are even linked at the mind.

I was not looking forward to this.
