Chapter 19
Two days.
It had been two days since I had woken up, and Ian had fallen down. Two damn days.
There was no medicine in this goddamn cabin as well. There was a small first aid kit, but it only had painkillers, nothing for a cold. To make matters worse, half of the fruits and vegetables were rotten with mold, so we were very short on our food supplies. The whole week we had been here already was testing us, and it seemed as if we weren't going to make it for the rest of the last one.
I knew we had been here for nine days exactly by the small paper calendar that was hanging on the refrigerator door by a magnet. Ian -I would say it was him since he was the only one here with me- had been crossing out the days that had passed while I was out cold. And since we had gotten here on a Sunday, while today was Tuesday, nine days had gone by.
I sighed as I sipped on the barely warm soup while I watched Ian sleep peacefully. I had helped him eat a hot soup not that long ago, but as soon as he had managed to gulp down half of it, he had passed out again in a range of coughs.
My nose was still stuffed up, but at least the cough from before was gone, and I had a little more energy to do the chores. I had managed to clean up a bit, throw away everything that didn't work anymore, and even arranged our living compartments for better access to the flame in the past two days. But the rest of the cabin still looked like a mess, and part of me didn't really care.
"Wasn't my fault our stupid parents decided to send us here in the first place...." I muttered to myself for what seemed like the millionth time.
"Charlotte....."
My eyes quickly snapped up to see a tired Ian sitting up. His red nose popped out from his pale face, and his voice was so soft, I barely heard him in the first place.
"What are you doing? You should be sleeping." I quickly handed him a few of the last remaining tissues as his face formed into a sneeze. He groaned as he blew his nose, and then sniffed as he looked over at me.
"I can't bweathe." My lips twitched slightly at the way he said his words, but I managed to not laugh.
"Well a humidifier would help, but we don't have one."
His head slowly slumped towards my shoulder -as I had sat down besides him- and he sighed. The shock that ran through me left me speechless long enough for him to fall back asleep with a snore. I groaned mentally and eyed my soup from the kitchen table with longing.
"Gah damn it...."

The door slamming open, bringing in a blast of the cold, frosty air with them snapped me from my nap. My brain slowly processed the events going on around me: Ian curling even closer to me as multiple feet stomped towards us. Then voices trying to get my attention as my brain finally began to focus.
People.
PEOPLE!
"Princess?" The man crouching in front of me said in concern. I blinked rapidly, shook my head slightly and then spoke.
"I'm sorry. What did you just say?" I flinched as ice, cold fingers touched my forehead as they quickly ran something across it, and winced as someone flashed a flashlight at my eyes.
"Slightly elevated temperature," he spoke again and then it was quiet for a few seconds. "101.4. Start the car now, we are leaving."
I didn't even get to speak again as I was immediately lifted up from the floor. A small squeak escaped my lips as the random person who carried me crushed me even closer to them. A heavy quilt was thrown over me, making everything go dark for a few seconds before I was taken out to the chilling wind.
The coldness didn't even last for two seconds before I was inside something again. I felt the familiar purr of an engine underneath me at the same time the quilt was dragged down from my face, but still kept around me. The door of the car quickly slammed shut on my right, and I quietly watched as someone sat on my left right before a man placed a semi-conscious Ian on the other side. As soon as that door was closed, the car moved forward and we were off.
But where?
"Where are we going?" I whispered, stopping whatever the guy next to me was mumbling to himself as he checked Ian. He was now, crouching in between us, facing us as his back was to the front of the car.
"Home Princess. We are taking you home. But the first stop will be to the hospital to take care of you two."
My heart soared at those words, and a small smile actually appeared on my face. I didn't even bother thinking about the second half of his words.
Home.
Wait...... which one?
"My home, or-"
"Lamia Princess." I nodded once and still kept a small smile as I blew my nose on a small piece of paper since there weren't any tissues around. Any home was better then this cold, abandoned place.
The ride in the car seemed to last longer than last time. When I asked, they told me that we were going to civilization, instead of the private airplane a few minutes away from the cabin. The only reason the small group of people that came to the cabin came was because our parents had ordered it. They had ordered for someone to check on us halfway through our "vacation" and if we were alright, that we had to stay. But if anything bad was to happen, then we had to be immediately evacuated. The reason they had been two days late was because the snow storm that happened on the day of my stupidity blocked all the roads, making it impossible for them to come to us.
"Who are you?" I asked as he expertly took out a needle from its package and slowly stuck it in Ian's vein on his left arm. All while the car was still moving I should add.
He quickly looked at me with his dark brown eyes and gave me a small smile before he continued working. "Apologizes Princess, as I have forgotten to introduce myself. My name is Dr. Robert Phillips. They brought me here, just in case of an emergency, and I'm actually glad I came. Your husband, Prince Ian, is not in very good shape." Ian coughed to prove his point and I winced.
"Well I think I'm actually getting over what he has," I admitted as I quickly shook my head when he opened up another needle and looked up at me.
"What do you mean?"
I sighed and took a deep breath before I told him everything that had happened. By the time I was finished, he was shaking his head and looking at me with an even worried look as he scratched his head from above his wool hat.
"I'm sorry, but I actually have to give you this IV. If you were sick for a whole week, and you pushed your body for the last two days without any proper rest, you need this even more."
I opened my mouth to say something, but when no words came out, I just slumped and gave him my arm. "Fine. Whatever." The slight pinch made my nose scrunch up, but besides that, I felt nothing else.
It was silent from then on, until the car finally arrived to civilization and then stopped in front of a building. My door was immediately thrown open, and then multiple voices began to float in the air, making it difficult to understand what they were saying. All I knew was that someone helped me get down from the car, -being careful with the IV that was attached to me- and then I was gently laid on a gurney before I was quickly wheeled out of the cold.
"Don't worry Princess. You will feel much better soon." A male nurse murmured to me as he wheeled me somewhere. The female nurse besides him just gave me a small smile as a different doctor rattled off words to another nurse.
"What about Ian?"
The same nurse looked up at the doctor before he gave me another small smile and looked away as said so doctor spoke for him.
"He will be fine," she smoothly murmured to me. "Dr. Phillips is the one who is looking at him personally. He is in the best hands that we have here."
I gave her a small grin and shook my head as I read the stitching in her white coat. "So Dr. Sarah Walker? Do I have the second best?
Chuckles surrounded me as we stopped moving, and they began to add stuff to the bag that was connected to my IV. I just watched in silence, wondering exactly what would have happened if they hadn't come to us, until I jumped in fright when someone said my name. I hadn't even realized I was alone in the room until my eyes landed on Dr. Walker standing in front of the door by herself.
"Princess Charlotte? It's your mother, the Queen," she said softly as she held a black phone to her chest. I groaned and shook my head, silently showing her to tell my mother I was sleeping. She just bit her lip, looked at me for a few seconds and then nodded. "I'm sorry your Majesty, but she is currently sleeping. Would you wish for me to try to wake her up or leave a message?" I narrowed my eyes at her last sentence. I waited in silence as my mother spoke and Dr. Walker just nodded her head quickly. "Yes your Majesty. Of course...... Yes ma'am....." her eyes flashed back to me before they drifted away again. "Yes, of course. Goodbye."
"Did she know I was awake?" She nodded and I laughed. Of course. I could never fool my mother. "What did she ask for?"
She quickly placed a lock of her light, blonde hair behind her ears as she spoke. "Nothing much. She just wanted us to prepare everything for tomorrow. Apparently she's sending your doctor, Joy, here in a few hours so she can travel back with you two."
"Joys coming?" She nodded and then gave me a small smile.
"You won't be here anymore. I'm sorry your honeymoon was cut short."
If I had been drinking water, everything that I would have had in my mouth would have sprayed all over the white sheet on my body. Honeymoon??
I was going to correct her, and tell her the exact reason why we were even there, but then I remembered that no one knew the truth. I knew I had to play along, even if I didn't like the lies that spilled from my mouth.
"Don't worry. We can always have another one."
She gave me a knowing smirk and then stepped forward, a small smile on her lips. "Between us girls, chose something warmer. Don't do the middle of nowhere, surrounded by snow."
"Oh don't worry. We are never doing that again."
She gave me another small smile, checked my temperature, and wrote stuff down in her chart before she walked away, leaving me alone.
I sighed in relief, curling up into a ball as I tried to unblock my nose.
Who would have thought one of my stunts would have granted me my freedom?

Oh man.... I don't even know where to begin.....
I have been having the BIGGEST writers block I have ever had in my entire life. Each time I would log in and go to any of my books to write, everything would suddenly disappear right as I would start to type.
*yanks hair*
LUCKILY, for the past two days, I have gotten this *points to what you just read* out of the empty space I have in my head. I know it's not the best, but it's what I could come up with in a few hours as my life would always knock with every other sentence I wrote.
*sighs*
But I'm the good news: THEY ARE FINALLY OUT OF THERE. 🙌🏼
You know what weird? I know EXACTLY what's going to happen, but on days/weeks that I can't write anything, I get frustrated with myself. WHY CANT THE DAMN WORDS COME OUT OF MY HEAD??? WHYYYY???
*yanks hair again*
I'll be bald by the time this book ends lmao 😂
What's coming up next?....... a small time jump. Just a tiny jump..... immediately followed by the biggest deal of them all.
What will it be?
Guess 😋
