After William leaves I plug in my earphones and listen to "Love me like you do" by Ellie Goulding. It fits my mood, perfectly.

He made me forget about mom.

For a few minutes, it was just us.

I lean back against the back of the chair and close my eyes. The music booms in my ears, cutting out all other sounds. I take a few deep breaths to calm myself down and then open my eyes.

My mouth drops open and I sit frozen in my seat.

M...Mom.

She's awake and...smiling at me!

I let my mind register this. Then I'm out of my seat and run to the bed. I take hold of her hand.

I force myself to speak. "Mom...Can you hear me?"

There's a dizzy look in her eyes but she manages to nod her head.

A smile stretches across my face and I go out to fetch a nurse. She checks mom and in the mean while the doctor arrives to run a few tests on her. While they do so, I call Ella.

The moment she picks up, I say.

"Get to the hospital, right now." And with this I end the phone call.

I'm still in the hallway when she rushes out of the elevator and comes to a halt in front of me.

"Is mom alright?" She asks.

Then it strikes me that she must've been thinking that something bad had happened.

I smile and say. "She woke up."

She gives a small scream and goes into the room and I follow.

Mom's eyes are closed and I start to panic again. But she opens them and smiles at us.

I smile back and let Ella meet her. The doctor clears his throat to get our attention, which he does.

"Your mother does not need the two months trial, that we recommended. Which is good. Though, we'll have to keep her in the hospital for another week till she's fully stable and then she can go home."

With this he leaves the room.

Ella walks over and hugs me. I hug her back.

The nurse comes back in to take mom to the x-ray theatre to run a few tests. When they're gone, she turns to me and asks.

"So, what are the updates on you and Prince Charming?"

"Don't call him that!" I exclaim.

"Whatever. Prince William. As you like it." She corrects herself.

I almost tell her about this morning but I just shrug and say. "I already told you about the last time I saw him. No updates. That's the latest."

She nudges my shoulder and says. "Aww. He's afraid to make his second move."

He already did, Ella. He came to see me this morning.

"He's a busy man, you know." I say in his defense.

"Accept the truth. Come on." She nudges me again.

"We don't stand a chance. Ella, he's a prince and I'm a housemaid." I tell her.

"No. You're not. You're his assistant." She says.

"No matter what job I get, my status will always be that of a housemaid. Thanks to dad." I mutter.

Before we can continue the conversation, the nurse brings  mom back in.

~Time Lapse~

Ella went home late last night and I stayed up all night, sitting beside mom's bed.

I'm still sitting there when my phone starts to ring. Not wanting to wake mom up, I go out into the hallway.

It's William.

"Hey!" He says.

"Hi!" I reply.

"You sound happy." He says.

"I do?" I ask, surprised. Not because I'm not but because he noticed that.

"Yeah. Why? What's the occasion?" He asks.

I decide to tell him. "Mom woke up."

"Wow! Congratulations...wait that's not the right thing to say." I laugh at this and then say. "I understand what you're trying to say."

"Good." Is all he says.

We both fall into silence and I'm the one to break it.

"Uh, William?"

"Yeah?" He asks.

"Can I please get the day off? I really don't want to leave her alone." I explain.

"That's a difficult decision to make. But anyways, yes." He replies.

"What's so difficult about giving a day off to someone?" I ask him.

"The difficult part is giving the day off to someone, you can't live without." This makes me blush scarlet red.

I manage to say.

"Thanks. Bye."

And I end the call.
