familiar faces (41)
"Which one should I wear?" I groan in frustration.
William's party is tonight. I have only two hours left to get ready and I still can't decide what to wear.
Ella pokes her head into the room. "What're you doing?"
"Trying choose a dress." I reply.
She walks in and looks down at the three outfits I laid out on the bed. She points at the one in the middle. A red dress that hugs my waist and then reaches just below my knees.
"That one. It's always suited you." She tells me.
I sigh. "Alright. The red one it is."
"Tell me if you need anything. I have to call and check on Leo." She says as she closes the door.
I already took a shower, so I change out of my bathrobe and into the dress. I start with my hair which I iron and let fall loose around my shoulders. Make up, I keep to minimum.
When I look at the time on phone my heart gives a leap. If I don't leave now, I'll definitely be late.
I quickly step into my heels, strap them and then grabbing my phone, I leave the room. I meet Ella in the living room.
"Wow. You're looking good." She says with a smile on her face.
"Thanks." I reply, as I pour myself a glass of water.
"How are you going to get there?" She asks me.
"Bus." I reply, as I finish gulping down the water.
When I turn to look at her she has an odd expression on her face and is staring at me with disbelief.
"What?" I ask her.
"You're to the prince's party as his date. By bus." With this she bursts out laughing.
"Then you should lend me your car." I defend myself.
"I would but can't for two reason. One, because the driver took it back and two, because you don't even know how to drive." She tells me.
"True." I sigh and after a pause ask. "Is mom awake?"
She shakes her head. "No. She just took her medicines and you know they make her sleepy. It's best that you don't wake her up."
"Okay in that case tell her that I left." I say.
"Will do." With this she gives me a push towards the front door.
"Have fun!" She calls after me as I open the door. I walk out and close it behind me. But when I turn back around, I stop short in my tracks.
There's a Mercedes parked down the driveway. The font door opens and a man in a black suit steps out.
"Miss Rhyes?" He asks. I nod my head in reply since I am unable to speak.
"Prince William asked me to drive you to the office." He tells me.
So, I don't have to take the bus after all. All thanks to William. As I get into the back seat, I fill up with excitement. I can't believe he actually sent a car for me.
I'm accustomed to the jerking and swaying bus but this car makes no sound and runs smoothly on the road.
In no time the car stops and the driver comes around to my side to open the door for me. The moment I step out, the sound of music and people talking reaches my ears. This noise is nothing like what I remember from high school parties.
It's much more sophisticated.
People in suits and dresses are moving in and out of the building. I walk towards the main entrance and make my way to the lobby.
The last time I remember, it was full of people going about their jobs but now there's a dance floor and refreshment stands with people scattered all over the space.
I spot Helen talking to a group of people. I walk up to them and recognise them from previous meetings.
"Look who's here." Helen says as I stop next to her.
"Hey." I simply say, hugging her.
I don't see William, so I keep getting myself more and more engaged into the conversation going on.
That is until I spot two familiar faces in the crowd.
Mason and Simon.
William's stepbrother and my sister's brother-in-law.
Both of whom made moves on me.
And I refused both of them.
Now they're both here.
Perfect.
But wait...they're walking towards me!!!
