Chapter 9
Six Week Later/July 3rd 1992
Donna's pov
It's been six weeks since Nadia was born. For the first two weeks of her waking me up every two hours, changing her diapers or feeding her.
I barely slept for two weeks. The last three weeks, everything's calmed down.
After having Nadia, I've been dealing with body issues. I still have my stretch marks on my body.
I'm starting to miss my body before getting pregnant. I don't regret having Nadia or blaming her for changing my body.
I wish I could get my pre-pregnancy body back. I am so thankful for Rita and her family helping me out with Nadia, letting us stay with them.
After six weeks, Nadia and I came home to get settled in our home. I am getting Nadia dressed up.
We're gonna head to the airport. My family's coming from Kansas City so they can meet Nadia for the first time.
It's also the 4th of July weekend as well. I wanted my family to visit on the 4th of July.
I looked at the time on my clock. It's almost 11 in the morning.
The plane arrives in two hours, putting Nadia in her crib after getting her dressed. I quickly got dressed in sweatpants and hoodie to hide my post pregnancy body.
I got Nadia out of her crib. "Okay, baby girl, Mommy's all ready," I said, getting her out.
I got her in her carseat, getting her buckled up. I grabbed her stroller, and diaper bag.
I put it on my shoulders. I grabbed my purse with my keys, going through the garage.
I got Nadia in the backseat, setting it up. Nadia starts crying.
"Oh Nadia. I'm sorry for waking you," I whispered. I put everything on the floor by the door.
Nadia continued to cry as I gently shut my SUV door, then got in the driver's seat. I turned my car on, playing Enter Sandman by Metallica to help her sleep.
Nadia stops crying as she goes back to sleep. I sighed in relief as metal music played.
Good thing metal music puts babies' to sleep. I gently shut my door, start the SUV.
I leave my garage, pushing the button to clothes it. I started driving to the airport.
Forty-Five Minutes Later
I got to the LAX Airport. I got out of my SUV, getting the stroller out.
I gently get Nadia out of her car seat, putting her in the stroller. I grabbed her diaper bag just in case she had an explosion.
I walked into the airport from the parking lot. I looked at the arrivals, seeing if my family's plane had arrived.
Their plane landed a few moments ago. I'm just waiting for them to arrive.
I look back and forth at the time and the doors. I see the door opening up.
I start seeing the arrivals coming in. I looked on, waiting for my Aunt Linda to arrive.
I see my cousin-in-law Dora with Derek and Josie. I don't see Royce. My half brother Henry, his wife Charlene and their daughter Jill didn't come. I see my Aunt Linda arriving through the doors.
Derek and Josie ran to me. I hugged them both. "Hey, kiddos," I said.
"Hi, Donna. Where's Nadia?" Derek asked. "She's in her stroller," I said.
Josie and Derek look at Nadia in her stroller. "Why's her eyes closed?" Josie asked.
"She's sleeping right now," I said. Dora walks over and hugs me.
"Congratulations, Donna," Dora said. "Thank you. Where's Royce?" I asked.
"He didn't want to come. Plus he couldn't get off work anyways," Dora said. Dora is married to my cousin Royce.
They've been married for seven years now and have two children. "That's understandable," I said.
"Hi, Donna," my Aunt Linda said. "Hi," I said, hugging her. She hugged me back.
"So this must be Nadia?" Aunt Linda said. "Yes, this is Nadia. She's six weeks old," I said.
"She's so beautiful," Aunt Linda said. "Thank you. It's surreal that I'm a new mommy," I said.
"I know but you're doing good with being a new mommy," she said. "Well, I think we should head to my house," I said.
"Good idea. The kids need a nap. They couldn't sleep on the plane," Dora said. "Mommy, we're not tired," Derek said.
"Well, you two need a nap. I bet your jet lagged," Dora said. "Also, Nadia needs to stay in a nap routine so she can go to bed later tonight," I said.
"Just like you two need to stay in routine as well," Aunt Linda said to Derek. "Aww, man," Derek said, frowning.
Josie starts yawning. "I'm very sleepy now," Josie said. Dora picks up Josie.
"She had a hard time sleeping on the plane," Dora said, picking Josie up. Aunt Linda picks up Derek.
We left the airport and went to the parking lot. I got Nadia back in her car seat.
"There you go, babygirl," I said. Nadia yawns as I cover her eyes.
Dora got Derek and Josie in their booster seats that they brought for them. "Are they secure?" I asked.
"They are," Dora said. "Okay," I said, shutting the door. I got in the driver's seat.
Aunt Linda's in the passenger seat. Dora shuts the door as she buckles up. I buckled up and started driving.
An Hour Later
We made it to my house. The kids are having their naps.
Dora, Aunt Linda and I are in the living room. We're having some coffee, talking about the kids, Nadia and all things us moms do.
"How does it feel to be a new mom?" Dora asked. "It feels surreal like I said before. Waking up every two hours to feed and change Nadia, go back to sleep and repeat it again in two hours," I said.
"It's normal. I was like that with Derek and Josie when they were babies," Dora said. "Royce was a nightmare to go back to sleep," Aunt Linda said.
"That explains why Derek couldn't go to sleep. Just like his daddy," Dora said. "Judith woke up every night as well when you were a baby," Aunt Linda said.
I nodded, getting teary eyed about my mom. "Hey, it's okay. Don't cry, Donna or Nadia will start crying," Dora said.
"I know but I wish she was here to meet Nadia," I said. "I know, Donna. She's in heaven and seeing how much of a good mommy you are," Aunt Linda said.
I sniffled. "I need to go to Lebanon to visit her grave with Nadia," I said.
"Are you filming movies again?" Dora asked. "I decided to wait two years to go back to adult entertainment," I said.
"What are you gonna do for work?" Aunt Linda asked. "Not sure. I'm applying for jobs at restaurants. I actually have a job interview at Hooters tomorrow," I said.
"Hooters?" Aunt Linda said. "Yes. They're hiring bartenders," I said.
"Ooh, that sounds good," Dora said. "Are you gonna wear those shorts?" Aunt Linda asked.
"I'm not sure yet. I gotta see if I got the job or not," I said. "Well pump before you go to work," Dora said.
"I'll let them know that I'm still breastfeeding," I said. Aunt Linda and Dora nodded.
"Be sure to take the breast pump that your friend Rita got for you," Aunt Linda said.
"I know. Rita told me I had to bring it with me if I go back to work. I have to pump every two hours or else my boobs will get swollen and sore," I said.
"Good thing you have a mom friend in the entertainment," Dora said. "Rita retired from it last year because she wanted to be home with her kids," I said.
"Oh," Dora and Aunt Linda said together. "Yeah. Plus, she doesn't want her kids to grow up, find out what their mommy does for a living," I said.
"Are you going back to the entertainment?" Dora asked. "Maybe in a couple of years. I'll work as a bartender and make films on weekends to keep a roof over our heads," I said.
"Are you worried about Nadia finding out when she gets older?" Aunt Linda asked. "I'll tell Nadia when she turns 13 years old," I said.
Aunt Linda nodded. "Good idea. She'd be more older to understand," Aunt Linda said.
"I hope she doesn't find any of my magazines and videos I did," I said.
"Well, put those in a trunk or in a box so she doesn't find them," Dora said.
I nodded as I heard Nadia on the monitor. "Sounds like Nadia's awake. I better check on her so she doesn't wake Derek and Josie from their naps," I said.
Aunt Linda and Dora nodded as I headed upstairs to check on Nadia. I got to Nadia's nursery to check on her.
Nadia starts fussing. I got her out of the crib, checking on her. "Hey, babygirl, what's the matter?" I asked, baby talking to her.
I sat down on the rocking chair, lifting my shirt as I started feeding her. Nadia latches on to my nipple.
"Awww, not too fussy when you start eating, aren't you?" I asked. Nadia looks at me as she calms down and eats.
July 4th 1992
It's 4th of July, also Nadia's first 4th of July. Rita and her family invited me and my family for a barbecue and firework show at their house.
Nadia and I got ready and dressed. I am picking my family at the hotel, taking them over to Rita's house.
I am wearing a blue polka dot dress with sandals. Nadia's wearing First 4th of July onesies that I made for Nadia with fabric paint.
I got a tutu I made around her waist as well. "So pretty," I said.
I laid Nadia done on her blanket that my mom made for her. "There we go," I whispered.
Nadia coos and looks at me. I grabbed my disposal camera that I got at Walmart.
I took a picture of Nadia in her outfit. "So pretty, baby girl," I said.
I hear my phone ring, I grabbed it off the receiver. "Hello," I asked.
"Hi, Donna. We just finished getting ready," Aunt Linda said. "Okay. I just dressed Nadia. We'll get you guys," I said.
"Okay, see you soon," Aunt Linda said. I hung up, going back to Nadia. "Okay, Nadia. We better get going," I said, getting her off the floor.
Later
We are at Rita's house. We are eating and drinking.
I am inside feeding Nadia but she finished eating and she's now taking a nap. I headed back outside, sitting with my family and friends.
Derek and Joise are playing with neighborhood kids. "Is Nadia napping?" Aunt Linda asked.
"I just put her down for a nap. Hopefully fireworks don't wake her," I said. "How does she sleep through the night nowadays?" Dora asked.
"She actually can sleep through the night like an angel," I said. "She's a calm baby. Just her mommy," Aunt Linda said.
I nodded. "My miracle baby," I said, smiling.
"Have you thought of getting Nadia baptized?" Aunt Linda asked. "To be honest, I want Nadia to have that choice when she gets older," I said.
My family nodded. I'm worried about Holy Water touching her and it burns her since she's half-human half succubus.
My family still doesn't know about Nadia or what she is and I don't want them to know.
