Donna's pov
It's been several weeks since I told my mom and my Aunt Linda that I'm pregnant. They told the rest of the family.
I told my half-brother Henry about my pregnancy out of wedlock. He's happy for me, he can't wait to meet his niece.
The rest of my family are happy that I am having a baby but my cousin Royce isn't happy that I got pregnant out of wedlock.
I am two months along. My baby's growing so fast inside me. Agatha told me that she'd be growing fast in the womb.
It's normal for cambions to grow in the womb fast. My friend Daisy's been helping me through the whole pregnancy.
A lot has happened since I got pregnant. I actually moved out of my apartment in Los Angeles, bought a new house in Inglewood, California.
It's a dream house that I always wanted. It's my first home that I ever bought. It's a home I want my daughter to grow up in.
Right now my friend, Rita, brought me some old baby stuff that I need like a changing table, a rocking chair, a cabinet to put diapers, wipes and other essentials that a baby needs.
However, I don't have a crib at the moment. I put it on a baby registry list. I found a crib that I want for my nursery.
I have a book of baby names. I am skimming through it. I wrote down each name and their meanings and origins.
I wrote down names. Nadia means 'hope' in Russian, Bethany means 'desire of goodness' in Greek and Hebrew and Sarah means 'Princess' in Hebrew.
I love all three names for my baby. I decided to wait to choose a name for my baby girl on the say of her birth.
I'm in my baby's room, getting all primed and painted. Her wall is all pink with white polka dots with Minnie Mouses that I collected as a child.
I opened the windows to let out some of the fumes from the paint. I left the baby's room, heading to my bedroom.
I turned the tv on, seeing Full House playing on tv. It's the episode where Michelle gets away with whatever she wants because she's the baby and Danny blames Stephanie and DJ.
I know I'm not to spoil my little girl like that or let her behave like that. "Daisy, are you still here?" I asked.
I don't see or hear her. "Daisy?" I asked. I heard wings flapping. "I'm here. I was doing something," she said.
I sighed in relief. "Angel stuff?" I asked. "No, work. I was filming a new XXX movie and I just got done," she said.
"That's good. How's the new boss?" I asked. "He's good. He's not a demon, which is good," she said.
"That's good. So do they want me to film or anything?" I asked. "Actually, they do but I told him that you've been having morning sickness and can't film," she said.
"Thank you for telling him for me," I said. "You're welcome. So how's the baby's room coming up?" she asked.
"Good. I just finished painting. It smells like fumes from the paint," I said. "Can I check it out?" she asked.
"Sure, go ahead," I said. Daisy heads to the baby's room to take a look. "Where's all the baby stuff from Rita?" Daisy asked.
"It's in my garage until the paint dries," I said. "Okay," Daisy said. I heard my phone ringing. I took my phone off the receiver.
"Hello?" I asked. "Donna, are you working?" I hear my Aunt Linda's voice. "No, I'm home. Is everything okay?" I asked.
"Your mom, just not feeling well. She had a radiation appointment but they noticed that her cancer is now killing her. She's on an oxygen tank. We need you to come home as soon as you can," she said.
"Okay. I'll try to get a plane ticket as soon as possible," I said. I hung up, getting off my bed.
I started packing clothes to head to Kansas City. Daisy returns to my room.
"Who was on the phone?" Daisy asked. "It was my Aunt Linda. My mom's cancer's gotten worse. She needs me home," I said.
"Okay. I'll help you pack," she said. "Thank you. Can you come with me?" I asked. "You know I will," she said.
Two Days Later/April 12th
I am in Kansas City to visit my mom with Daisy. We got to the hospital.
"Hello, may I help you?" the receptionist asked. "Judith Roussell," I said.
"Family or friend?" she asked. "Family. She's my mom," I said. "Donna?" my aunt Linda asked.
I rushed to my aunt, hugging her. "Where is she?" I asked.
"She's Intensive Care right now. She's stable and still plugged," Aunt Linda said. "Good thing I made it before she passed," I said.
"She won't let them pull the plug because she wants to see both of her children," she said.
"Where is she?" I asked. "Follow me," Aunt Linda said. "Aunt Linda, this is my friend Daisy. She came for support," I said.
"Nice to meet you, Linda," Daisy said. "Thank you for coming with her," Aunt Linda said. We got on the elevator.
We got on the floor my mom's at. I see my family in the waiting room.
"There's Donna," Denise said. I waved at my family. I see my half-brother Henry.
Henry and I are five years apart. My mom was dating someone three years after my dad passed away.
My mom's boyfriend got her pregnant with Henry and he left her after he got her pregnant. She raised both Henry and me by herself.
Henry lives in Omaha, Nebraska. I hugged my brother.
"Mom's in here," Henry said, pointing at her room. I nodded, going to the room she's in.
I saw my mom, she's hooked on IVs and she looks tired. I held my tears as I went and stood by her side.
"Hi, Mom," I said. "Donna, is that you?" my mom asked, looking at me. "It's me, Mom, and the baby," I said, hugging her.
She touches my belly. "There's my grandbaby," she said, smiling. I felt my baby kicking me as my mom touches my belly.
"She's been kicking a lot in the womb," I said. "I can feel her kicking," she said. I am smiling, sniffling.
"I wish you could meet her, Mom," I said. "I know. I will be looking after my second granddaughter in Heaven," she said.
"I know," I said. "So what's her name gonna be?" she asked. "I'm gonna wait until she's born to name her. I have names picked out," I said.
"That's good. Who's the father?" she said. "It was a one night stand but he disappeared. I'll be a single mom," I said.
"I raised you on my own after your daddy passed away. And then Henry as well. I know you'll be a good mommy," she said, holding my hand.
"I know I will be. You taught me everything," I said, smiling. "I am proud of you, Donna, despite the career choice to help pay for my medical bills," she said.
"Thank you, Mom," I said, hugging her. She held me close. "Henry?" my mom asked.
Henry comes in, standing next to me.
"I'm here, Mom," Henry said.
"My two beautiful children with me one last time," she said, tearing up.
"It's okay, Mom, we're here," Henry said.
"Now that I've seen you, I think I'm ready to go," she said. Henry and I leave the room.
The nurses were talking to my aunt. "Are you two Judith Roussell's children?" the nurse asked.
"Yes, I'm her oldest," I said. "Okay. Since you are Judith's oldest child, it's your final decision," the head nurse said.
When the nurse told me that I have to be the one to pull the plug and make the final decision, it's gonna be hard for me to do this.
"It's okay, Donna. She's ready to go home," Daisy said. I nodded, sniffling. "I don't want her to go through more pain," I said.
"So you're saying yes?" the nurse asked. "Are you sure, Donna?" Aunt Linda asked.
I look over, seeing my mom, sniffling.
I looked at my brother. Henry nodded.
"Yes, it's time," I said. We all went to my mom's room, I stood by my mom.
My cousins and their kids are saying their final goodbyes to my mom aka their aunt. Henry's daughter kisses her grandma.
The nurses are in the room. Henry and I stood next to each other. We held our mom's hand.
My mom starts breathing weakly, smiling. "Say hi to Daddy for me, Mom," I said.
"I will, sweetie. Henry, Donna, I love you two... so much," she said. "I love you too," I said, sniffling.
"I love you too, Mom," Henry said. The nurse puts the sleeping medicine to help my mom's heart to give out.
"I love you all. I'm coming to you, Roy," she said, groaning. "It's okay, Mom. You can go to Daddy now," I said.
Her monitor starts beeping quickly as the lines start flatling. My mom's hand lets go of mine and Henry's hand.
"Time, 3:30pm on April 12th, 1992," the nurses said. Henry and I start crying as we held onto our mom.
"She's in a better place now," Aunt Linda said. "I know," I said, sniffling.
My little cousins Josie and Derek cried as their aunt passed away. I kissed my mom's cheek as she went to heaven.
My family hugged me, saying their sorrys. I see my cousin Royce hugging me.
I hugged him back. "I'm sorry, Donna," he said. "It's okay. She's in a better place," I said.
"Not just that, I'm sorry for being an ass about your lifestyle and career. I see why you even did that sinful thing. It was to help your mom pay her medical bills," Royce said.
"Let's not talk about that right now. I just lost my mom," I said, walking away. "Royce, now's not the time to bring up her career," my aunt Linda said.
I sat down, next to my mom. I know she's gone but I need more time with her. I sighed softly, tearing up.
One Week Later/April 19th, 1992
Daisy and I are back in Inglewood, California after being away for a week. My mom's buried in Lebanon next to my dad.
To keep my mom's passing out of my mind. I finished decorating my baby's room.
My baby girl has been kicking me and she's growing so fast. Before I know it, she'll be ready to be born pretty soon.
I have an ultrasound tomorrow to see how big my baby's gotten in the womb. I'm gonna ask Dr. Berns if he could do a c-section within the next month.
Daisy's gonna go with me to see her soon-to-be goddaughter. I lifted my shirt up, pulling down the elastic on my jeans.
I looked down at my belly. I see a little kick from my belly.
"Oh, don't kick too hard, trouble maker," I said, chuckling. I see a little stretch mark. "Oh, I'll take care of that later," I said.
The baby kicked again but this time with a little force. I groaned a little.
"Okay, babygirl, do you need some blood to calm down?" I said, heading downstairs to the kitchen. I grabbed a blood bag from the fridge.
I opened the bag, drinking it from the bag. I drank the blood to keep the baby calm in the womb.
"Donna, you okay?" Daisy asked. "The baby was kicking me too hard. So I'm drinking human blood to calm her down,"
Daisy touched my belly. "She's happy that you're drinking blood for her. She's calmed down now," she said.
"As long as my baby's happy, then I'm happy," I said. I stopped drinking the blood, putting the rest back in the fridge.
