Chapter 1
Rue's POV:
"Mmm..." I mumbled as I turn my body to check the alarm to see what time is it. It's 8:09 am. I yawned and was about to get up, but I was soon stopped when I felt strong arms wrapped around me and I was pulled back. I whimpered when my beloved husband Dracen placed a kiss on my neck while feeling his shaved beard grazing against my skin as I heard a soft chuckle escaping from his lips.
"Good morning love." He addressed with his tired grin and I grinned back.
"Morning sleepyhead." I replied as I spun around to peck Dracen's soft lips.
"Sleep well?" I asked stroking his unkempt bright red hair with a gentle smile while staring into his alluring crimson orbs.
"Wonderful since I'm lying next to my beautiful human wife." He replied as he flashes me with his flirty smile. I tittered and playfully smack his chest. Yes you heard that right folks, my husband is a vampire. But I didn't care, I loved him inside and out. We may both lived in different worlds, but that doesn't matter to us; because me and Dracen are inseparable.
"You're so cheesy at times." I giggled. Dracen shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly.
"Maybe for you." He remarked and I couldn't help but chortled at his witty comebacks and he chuckled back. Then, Dracen leans his face towards my neck and I allow his fangs to sink into my skin as I hissed at the stinging sensation. I slowly grab a handful of his hair and pushed his head onto my neck. Dracen got the message and kept sucking my neck to the point where I became numb. Once i feel my vision start to blur, I lightly smack his right shoulder.
"T-That's enough honey...you can stop." I panted as I felt him nodding his head and carefully pull his fangs out, we both let out a gasp. He was panting heavily and glance down with a grin. Then he kissed the mark and pat my head.
"Thanks love, I hope I didn't hurt you that hard." He stated while stroking head, but I shook my head and grin lovingly at him as I reach my hand to his cheek.
"I let you did it for a reason hon, it's the only thing that makes you lived." I reassured and I smiled warmly. We were about to kiss one more time, but a knock echoed in the room ruining the mood.
"Just a second." I stated as I rise from my bed and put on my silk black robe to cover my black lacy nightgown and I slip my feet into my fuzzy white slippers. I wasn't even surprised when I felt Dracen's gaze lingering behind me, who is literally checking me out. I spun my head to my husband with a cheeky grin.
"As long as I loved being stared at, now it's not the time to do this Dracen." I reminded.
"Aww is wifey embarrassed to see me staring at her beauty?" He teased. I shook my head and rolled my eyes at Dracen's playful remark.
"You and your frisky remarks." I sighed with a slight grin and the frisky dark haired vampire chuckled.
"You know you love my frisky remarks my love.~" He cooed flashing me with his signature sly smirk and his irresistible wink. I giggled in response.
"Just get up you silly vampire." I retorted while giggling.
"Yes, yes, I'll get up." Dracen replied as he hops off the bed wearing nothing but his black boxers. Then he grabs his maroon bath robe from the bedpost as he wraps it around his lean, muscular physique. Soon he took a glance at me before forming a frisky smirk and stroll passed me with a light smack on the ass. I flinched when he did that before I spun around with a light glare.
"Boi you better not do that in front of our six daughters." I warned him. Dracen tilt his head innocently as he taps his chin while staring up at the ceiling.
"Hmmm we'll see what happens." He implied before turning away with a smirk making me shook my head and rolled my eyes at his playful ways.
This boi.
I thought before forming a grin as both me and Dracen head to the door where Dracen opens the door to see our butler with emerald orbs aka guardian black demon dog, Ash, appear at the doorway.
"Pardon me for the intrusion master and madam, but breakfast is prepared for the two of you and the children." He informed as he tucks his dark bangs underneath his right ear.
"Thank you very much Ash, we appreciate it. Are the girls awaken yet?" Dracen asked curiously.
"They're not master, I'm about to wake them up at the moment." He replied.
"I'm already awake." Suddenly, we heard a stern female voice from the halls where me and Dracen peer through the doorway with Ash turning his head at our direction to see our eldest nineteen year old daughter Scarlet in the halls. She shares the same appearance as my husband where Scarlet inherits her father's crimson eyes and dark hair except it's longer and in a form of a bun. She even looks stunning as ever where she wears a gorgeous red shawl underneath her black shirt along with a red hair band, maroon jeans and red faux leather, block heel ankle boots. But I must be honest, Scarlet became much taller than her younger sisters. No wonder why Carmen is jealous of her.
"Ah good morning Scarlet, did you sleep well last night?" Dracen asked politely as she nods her head with a stoic expression.
"Yes I did father, I slept very well last night. As for you mother?" Scarlet asked curiously as she glanced at me and I grin at her.
"I slept just as well as your father sweetie, but did you prepare for everything? Because you have a history quiz today in Typhoeus High School." I reminded her and I notice her slightly flinching before nodding her head.
"..Yes...about that, I must ask you something. Do you believe it's okay for me and my sisters to attend a school full of monsters? Especially when if it's in the middle of the forest?" She asked curiously staring down at the floor with her eyes filled with uncertainty despite appearing so calm. I lightly grimace when she asked. It's been 13 years since the incident back in Redstone Middle School. I have to admit, the forest isn't the best place for us to live, but we both have our reasons to move. We don't have other choice. If we placed our daughters into another school filled with humans, it will get much worst for them if their vampiric instincts kept constantly kicking in 24/7. I sighed and approach her with a sympathetic look as I laid my hands on her shoulders.
"Scarlet, I know things are rough for you and your sisters. I really do, me and your father do; even Ash knew it too. We moved into forest long time ago because we want what's best for you guys. If people were to found out about your dhampir race when you were a child, you and your father would've been slaughtered by those vampire hunters. I know it's hard to hear, but we'll do whatever we can to give you and your sisters the best life you have. The forest may not be the best option, but it's the only way to protect ourselves from the hunters. " I reassured her. Scarlet grips her arm while staring at the floor with modestly downcast eyes, but she gave me a light nod despite looking composed.
"...Okay." She replied while remaining uncertain, but Dracen strolled beside me and pat our daughter's head gently.
"It's tough we know," He assured as he plant a kiss on her forehead while stroking her head.
"But don't pay attention too much, just go to the dining room for now. You don't want your breakfast to be cold right? Matter of fact, what did you prepare for them Ash?" Dracen asked glancing at the dark haired butler.
"Just eggs Benedict with Hollandaise sauce drench over it and a pinch of paprika. I also made a concoction of blood orange and cranberry juice as a refreshment for all of us to prepare for the day." He informed eloquently.
"Did someone mentioned blood orange and cranberry?~"
Soon we all spun our heads to see our eighteen year old daughter, Carmen, appeared wearing a fitted, red and black shirt along with red pants and dress shoes. As we all sense a strong aroma of lavender from her, all of us cover and pinch our noses upon getting a whiff of one of her fragrances that she bought from that Allure Beauty store at Spookville that she always visits. Which I always remind her to ask me first before she heads out. Apparently she didn't.
"Oh...hehe good morning Carmen, sleep well?" Dracen asked curiously while covering his nose with his robe.
"I slept amazingly well daddy. The skin toner I'd bought from Allure Beauty fits perfectly well for my luscious skin. Mmm~ it really makes my skin so smooth." She told him while stroking her left cheek with her left hand grinning with content.
"But anyways, I heard Ash mentioned about a delicious concoction of blood orange and cranberry juice, correct?" She assumed tilting her head at Ash.
"Indeed milady." He replied while pinching his nose.
"Must you apply that amount of perfume in the morning?" Scarlet asked while pinching her nose with her brows furrowed. Carmen giggled as she began fluffing her dark short hair with lavender streaks with a proud smile.
"Oh Scarlet, you know how I am. I always need to look appealing for the public eye; especially, for the male crowd. If you know what I mean.~" She cooed flashing a wink making the eldest and the butler rolled their eyes.
"Splendid." She sarcastically replied.
"Splendid indeed, we all aware how much of a shameless flirt you are." He dryly pointed out with a deadpan look. Scarlet snickered at his sarcastic remark before giving him a high five; in which he did. However, Carmen didn't pay too much of their snarky remarks and flips her hair with confidence.
"What can I say? Maybe I'm just too tempting and sexy to them. Besides, this girl has a hot date with her ideal prince after school." She proclaimed, but neither of us aren't that surprised since our daughter was known to hook up with men from her school, but most of them ended up with a disaster.
"I've heard this way too much." Ash bluntly stated.
"Eh? Whatever do you mean by that?" Carmen asked glancing at Ash with a puzzled expression.
"Carmen, two weeks ago, you invited a wendigo in our house. However, he ended up tarnishing our house with his hot temper and aggressive behavior. Not only this dinner incident scarred our kids, but your mother, and I had to restrained Ash from killing him. Afterwards, we had to clean up the entire mess while Scarlet and Ruby were comforting your sisters in bed." Dracen reminded with his arms crossed. I sweatdrop when he mentioned that incident.
Oh my...I remember those two weekends ago.
I thought while looking back at the last time Carmen brought a date home.
"Please, the last time I wanna hear is him calling me a complete trash of a mutt." He scoffed with a cold tone. Carmen sighs and scratches her right cheek.
"Okay, I admit. My date with Wilmer didn't turned out so great, but today it won't be the same as last time." She reassured.
"And how do we know for sure this won't turned into a disaster?" Scarlet asked skeptically.
"Oh come on sister Scarlet, you just gotta believe!" She pouted.
"I stop believing since the moment I realized that life sucks." She retorted.
"Yes, but there is hope for all of us. Sure my date with Wilmer was bad, but there is a possible chance for me to find my ideal man someday. Right mommy?" She asked turning her head towards me. However, I wasn't happy because I am annoyed when she went out without my permission.
"Carmen sweetie, I told you not to put so much and what did I discuss you about going to places without my permission first?" I remind her.
"Hm? I did mommy, I even send a text to every family member last night. Didn't you look at the notification?" She asked and I paused for a minute when I remembered how much I worked my ass off at Valkyrie Cafe for five hours last night. Carmen's face went blank when she noticed my froze expression.
"You missed my notification didn't you?" She asked blankly and I let out a sigh.
"I'm sorry Carmen, your mother's been working last night that I didn't get a chance to look at my phone." I apologized, but Carmen smiled and giggled.
"It's fine mommy, I understand. But please take your time slowly, you'll get bags underneath your eyes, and physically exhausted if you keep overworking yourself." She reassured and I grinned softly at my second daughter.
"Thanks Carmen." I replied. Soon I felt Dracen laying his hands on shoulders.
"Oh I can assure you Carmen, mommy is going to be alright and this time she won't be overworking again." He reminded.
"Not to worry Dracen, I'll be arriving home just like usual, Anyway we must head downstairs before our breakfast gets cold. Ash, why won't you check on the girls if they're awake yet?" I suggested and he bows his head.
"I'll do that at once madam." He complied.
"Thanks, come on guys time to eat." I ordered.
"Yes mommy/mother." Scarlet and Carmen replied in unison. As we're about to head down, I felt Dracen wrapping his arm around me.
"And you better not keep me waiting or..." Dracen then playfully nibbled my right ear letting out a giggle and lightly smacking his right chest.
"Haha Okay, Okay, I'll slow down ya big goof." I chuckled as soon as Dracen released me, Scarlet was rolling her eyes at our typical everyday antics, but grin afterwards while Carman was giggling underneath her hand and Ash was just standing there looking like he wants us to leave immediately. So we all head downstairs to the dining room to eat our breakfast leaving Ash upstairs to head straight to one our daughters' the rooms.
