Chapter 1

The world of Remnant now lives in a time of peace. Or that was supposed to be. For a certain pair of sisters on Patch, is a whole different story.

Ruby and Yang was holding each other for comfort, waiting for the punishment that was about to happen to them. Yang recently tried to escape and look for her biological mother Raven with Ruby in a red cart. But she nearly got the both of them killed if it wasn't for their uncle Qrow.

In all honestly, they wished that it did. Because ever since Ruby's mother died over a year and a half ago, their father slowly started to get more and more abusive, almost to the point where he started to treat them as slaves. And now, the two sisters feared what their father would do to them.

"W-what d-do you think d-d-daddy will do t-to us?" the five year old Ruby asked, shaking in fear.

"I'm not sure, Ruby. But you need to be brave, sis. We're going to be okay," the seven year old Yang said, trying to calm her little sister.

After a couple of minutes went by, Tai screamed Yang to come down and face her consequences, and she did, with a lot of hesitation. Once she entered the living room, she saw her father waiting there with a look that could kill a Deathstalker.

"Do you have ANY idea how worried I was!?" Tai screamed.

"What? Missed your slaves?" Yang asked without emotion.

Suddenly, Tai hits Yang as hard as he could, sending her to the wall and leaving a dent in it.

"You don't talk to me that way!" Said Tai, hitting Yang again in the face, leaving a black eye on her.

He continued to hit her, until she was left blue, black and bloody, all of her aura was drained and she barely had the energy left to move.

"You need a lesson to never do this again," said Tai as he walks away to get something.

"NO! Leave Ruby alone!" Yang protested.

"Oh don't worry. I got something different planned for her. For now, though..." Taiyang said as he walks back to the living room, with an axe in hand.

The moment Yang saw the axe, she started to shake in fear. She has a good idea of what's about to happen to her, but she couldn't do anything. Not even crawl. All that she could do is cry. Cry in pain.

"Now, stay still. This will only hurt a lot," he said with a sadistic smile.

He brought the axe above his head and with a power swing, he brought the axe down on Yang's left arm. The axe stopped once it hit the bone, causing Tai to swing down again and again, all the while, Yang screaming from the top of her lungs. After a couple more swings, her left arm finally came off. Yang was holding the stump that was once her arm and crying in pain.

Suddenly, a couple of roars from Beowulfs and Ursas could be heard outside. Tai let's out an annoyed sigh as he walks outside, dealing with the Grimm. He just left Yang there in pain, as she continued crying.

"Dear Oum. Tai, what have you done," said a new voice in the room.

Yang slowly opens her eyes and saw her uncle walking towards her and picking her up.

"Don't worry, little dragon. I'll take you away from this hellhole," said Qrow as he walks towards Ruby's room.

But not before he goes and wrap bandage on Yang's missing arm and used his aura to heal close the wound. Once he was done, he goes and quickly made his way towards Ruby. Once he reached he room and enters it, Ruby shrieked in fear, expecting it to be her father.

"Hey petals," Qrow said, trying to calm Ruby down.

"Uncle Qrow!" Ruby screamed as she dashed towards him and hugged him for dear life.

"Don't worry Ruby. We're going to get you out of here," he said picking her up.

"Yang!" Ruby screamed, seeing the condition her sister was in, but she's unconcious.

"Don't worry, Ruby. She'll be fine," he lied, because he isn't sure himself how Yang is going to be with her missing arm, especially at a young age.

Qrow opens the window and started to run away from the hellhole, leaving Tai behind. Qrow took the two girls to the North side Patch for now. He has planned to take them to a saver place in the future in Vale, but this will have to do for now.

Qrow makes his way towards an abandoned wooden hut, similar to their previous home. As Qrow enters it, he put the two girls at the guest room. Qrow quickly check on Yang's wound, making sure that it doesn't bleed anymore. Once he's done, he walks towards the dark living room and collapses on the sofa.

"*Sigh* If only Summer could see what Taiyang did, she would decapitate him without hesitation. Not that I can blame her, I would do the same if I had the chance," Qrow said to himself.

"What did Taiyang do?" said an angry female voice in the room.

-Guest Room-

Ruby slowly started to wake up as the light of the Sun started to come through the window. Once she was somewhat awake, she remembers what happened last night. She looks to her older sister and saw her missing arm. Tears started to form and she hugged her sister, causing her to wake up.

"Ruby? What's wron-" Yang asked groggily, until she tried to rub her head with her left arm, but couldn't.

Yang looks down to her arm and saw her missing arm, meaning that it wasn't a horrible nightmare. The moment she saw this she started to cry again, while hugging her little sister the best way she could. After some time, Qrow came in the room to check on the girls only to find them crying in each other's embrace.

"Hey girls," Qrow greeted in a sad tone.

Without any answers from them, the girls went and hugged Qrow.

"Shh, it's alright. You girls are safe now," said Qrow, hugging them back.

"T-thank you, uncle Qrow," said Ruby, tightening the hug.

"Yang, I'm so sorry that I brought you girls back there. If I had known what Tai did to you, I would've brought you here," he said to them.

"W-we forgive you, uncle," said Yang through her tears.

"W-w-what will happen now?" Ruby asked, in a worried tone.

"Well... that the thing I wanted to talk to you girls next. There is someone at the living room that wants to see you. Just a fair warning... she's... she's a bit different," he tried to explain.

Ruby and Yang wipe away their tears before they start to follow Qrow to the living room. When they arrive at the living room, they see a woman sitting on the sofa with a blindfold over their eyes. The woman has black hair with red tips, has a short black dress, and the most noticeable feature, a white hooded cloak.

"M-m-mom?" Ruby asked as she slowly approaches the cloaked figure.

"Hey petals," said the woman in a sad and broken voice.

Ruby and Yang immediately recognised that voice and they run towards her and gives her a very tight hug.

"I'm so sorry what happened to you, Yang. I promise that I'll make it up to you," Summer said as the blindfold started to get soaked.

"I-it doesn't m-matter. W-w-what matters n-now is that you're back," said Yang through her tears.
