Nathen pov.

After I got over hurting my nuts I made my way to a bullhead since I didn't feel like turning into ghost. I rode it down to vale as I groaned slightly. It felt longer than usual but I couldn't figure out why. When I got to vale I noticed things seemed tense like a boom was about to explode and no one can defuse it. I made my way to the tavern that Jacob told me to come to and found a faunus leaning back in a chair. Every rook in the bar stared at him and his group as I saw Jacob and Evie with their backs turned while arguing. I walked up to the faunus and tapped his shoulder. He looked over at me and smirked as he flicked his tongue out. "Ah. Mr. Frye. Just the man that I was looking for." He grinned darkly as I saw the templar cross on his arm along with the white fang logo.

"What do you want?" I growled not in the mood for anything as everyone looked between the 2 of us.

"I have a letter for you. From the higher ups." He said pulling out a letter and handing it to me. I snatched it from his hand and tore it open. I pulled out a folded paper. "It's quite interesting too. First I've seen it happen." I unfolded the letter and started to read.

Dear Nathen frye,

I am Cinder falls. I have written this letter in Hope's to meet you. Please come to the docks at midnight tonight alone. If you do not I will do something you will greatly regret.

Cinder falls.

I told up the letter and walk over to a fire place in the room. I then threw in the letter. "Now with that done I'll be on my way. Enjoy your day." The faunus said darkly as he and his followers left. Evie and Jacob walked up to me

"What did it say?" Evie asked as I sighed.

"Someone wants to meet me tonight. I don't know why or who so this is going to be fun." I say as I walk out of the pub before being stopped by Jacob.

"We're going with you." He said as I rolled my eyes.

"Sorry no. They said alone. Otherwise I'll regret it." They seemed to understand as I left.

Timeskip.

As I made my way to the docks I couldn't help but notice that someone was following. I looked at my watch and saw I had 3 hours before I had to meet this Cinder. I ducked into an alleyway and hid behind a dumpster using my eagle vision to see a person walk into the alley. They looked around and walked close to my hiding place. As they were feet away I jumped out and grabbed their throat getting ready to interrogate them. I was started to see a young girl around the age of 9. She had short blonde hair that looked self cut, her tanned face was caked in dirt and bruises, she was wearing a long sleeve shirt and pants, and her jade eyes held fear.

"Please don't kill me." She begged as I slowly set her down but didn't let go.

"Why were you following me?" I asked putting my hidden blade away.

"I was going to steal your wallet. You look like you're rich." She said as I let go.

"How long have you been doing this?" I questioned as I kneeled down.

"Weeks I think." She answered as I sighed.

"What's your name kid?"

"Jackson." She looked down as I smiled.

"That's a nice name. I'm Nathen. Where are your parents?"

"Dead. Can I go now?" Jackson said as I was a bit taken back.

"Calm down kid. How about this, you come with me to where I'm going, get you better clothing and a decent meal. In return you tell me about yourself." I offered as Jackson nodded. I hold out my hand and she took it. I lead her out of the alley to a nearby clothing store. As I walked around with her i couldn't help but envy her.

"Why are you helping me?" Jackson asked me as I looked at her.

"Because I know what its like to be alone." I say as we carry some clothes to the clerk. The clerk gave us a smile as she checked us out.

"You have a lovely daughter." She said as I choked a bit.

"She's my friends kid. He asked me to watch over her til he can get back from his trip in atlas." I say quickly but calm.

"Oh well you seem like a family man sorry." The clerk laughed as Jackson and I left. I looked at my watch and saw I still had time. I took Jackson to a ramen shop. I asked her questions but she seemed evasive so I just stopped. After she finished eating I took her with me to the docks and had her sit behind a container. I gave her a blanket as I saw her yawn. I smiled sadly before walking to a different area at the docks and waited. I sat on a container looking out over the ocean as I thought about what could be beneath the waves.

Timeskip.

When it reached midnight I looked around and found a black haired girl with fiery eyes staring at me. I walked over to her and crossed my arms. "Thought I said come alone?"

"Look I found the girl trying to pick pocket me and I decided to bring her with me til I figure out what to do." I shrug as she smirked.

"How noble." Sbe said with q hint of sarcasm. "So you're the 3rd frye?"

"As far as you know. I'm assuming your cinder?" She nodded as I waited. "What do you want?"

"To convince you to join me." She said as I roll my eyes.

"As if I would join some templars." I say with irritation.

"I'm not some templar lackey. I'm much more." She said as I gave her a look of I don't give a fuck. "Do you know what day is the best?"

"Honestly? Dying is the day worth living for." I answered in my own opinion as she seemed to ignore it.

"The best day is when you gain power over those who have wronged you and turned you into what you are now. The best day is getting revenge." She said as she started to pace around me.

"You have your beliefs I have mine. If That's all then I'll be on my way." I smile before feeling something in my neck. I reached down and pulled out a dart. I looked around and saw Jackson turn into a girl with dark skin and green hair before going unconscious.
