Emotions
"Ms. Hunter, can I talk to you really quick?" Romeo asked. Ms. Hunter nodded. Nick sensed that this was a conversation he didn't need to be apart of.
"Oh look, there's Matteo! I haven't talked to him in forever." Nick excused himself to talk to Mr. Russo.
"What did you need to talk to me about?" Ms. Hunter wondered.
"It's about Julie." Romeo said, somewhat hesitantly.
"What about Julie? Is she alright? Did she do something wrong?" Ms. Hunter suddenly grew very worried. "Is the depression back?"
It was Romeo's turn to grow concerned. Depression? Julie had suffered from depression? She had always seemed so happy enough.
Then things seemed to click. She had been in therapy for years, she had been abused by her father, and even bullied by kids at her school, it made sense she would have some sort of depression. He had always known child abuse was absolutely horrendous, to put it lightly, but he had never really thought about how badly it could effect someone.
He mentally kicked himself as he remembered that he hadn't made it easier on her. He had never been one of the kids who had bullied her exactly but they had had a rivalry with each other, a mutual "hate" (he had never truly disliked her) you could say. The two had spouted insults at each other as much as they could growing up. That probably hadn't of helped her issues.
"No her depression isn't back, at least I don't think so... It's just I've noticed some problems she has and I want to help her."
"I understand the feeling." Ms. Hunter sighed. "She's alright though?"
Romeo paused, before nodding. "Yes I believe so. She just keeps running away from her problems. She just keeps running away from her problems. She's not completely happy like this, I know it. She's avoiding problems and that is making moving forward hard for her." He sighed before continuing. "I just want to help her."
"Juliet... She does what she wants, but I see what you mean. I've noticed she seems a little off. She's got a lot of problems. I'm guessing you know."
"Yeah I know. She, uh, told me. At the dance. And I want to help her overcome that." Romeo said honestly.
Ms. Hunter nodded. "And so do I. I've tried to get through to her. I've even tried to get her to talk to her old therapist. She doesn't want to confront it at all."
"Do you know how I can help her?" Romeo asked, sounding sincerely concerned for Julie. Ms. Hunter took moment to take a long hard look at the young man. He gave her a slight sheepish grin.
"I feel like you've already come up with a plan and you just want confirmation that it's a good idea." Ms. Hunter observed. Romeo's sheepish grin grew, but it seemed a little fake. He raised his hands.
"You got me." Romeo's smile faded and he seemed more honest once more. "I don't her to hate me."
Ms. Hunter smiled sincerely. "Listen, Romeo, it comes down to whether or not your willing to risk your friendship to help her push through this problem. You seem like a smart boy. I think you'll be fine either way. The decision is up to you. Just don't hurt my Julie."
Romeo thought about it. Romeo knew what he had to do.
