Almost

"So are you going to ask her or not?" Romeo asked. Eric thought about it before an evil grin spread across his face.

"I will," He paused for dramatic effect. "If you ask Jules to dance." He put emphasis on the word 'if'.

Romeo sighed. "You know that she'll say no."

"But what if she doesn't?" Eric smiled.

"She will."

"But what if she doesn't." Eric repeated.

"Then that would be awesome but she won't." Romeo admitted.

"You don't ask her and I won't ask Emily." Eric smirked.

It was Romeo's turn to admit defeat. "Fine I will, but that doesn't mean she'll say yes."

"It's just one dance. She might." Eric tried to be optimistic for his friend.

The two walked over to their table, where Juliet and Mark were hanging out.

Eric winked at Romeo real quick. "Jules, can I have my game back now?"

"Nope," She told him.

Eric pretended to be surprised. "What? Why not?"

"It's for your own good. You need to take a break, a long break, from playing. Why don't you ask Emily to dance?" Julie told him, her eyes fixed on the screen.

Eric whined, continuing to act out his part. "Oh come on, Jules! Please! It's not like you're being social either."

"Stop whining, Eric. It's for your own good." Julie told him. Romeo was trying to keep a straight face as Eric pretended to be annoyed. He caught Mark's eye and suddenly Mark understood and was in on it too.

"Fine, I'll ask Emily to dance with me... But only if you give up the game. Let Mark play for a while." Eric said.

"Wha- Fine." Julie sighed and saved the game handing it over to Mark. Eric gave his two guy friends a wink as he walked over to the girl he liked.

They couldn't hear what he was saying but they already knew what it was. They could see Emily nod her head happily and Eric pull her on to the dance floor. Halfway across the room they saw Eric quickly mouth 'your turn' to Romeo. Julie didn't see this though.

She stood up from the table. Romeo was about to open his mouth to speak when Julie spoke up.

"I'll be right back." She said before she headed in the direction of the bathroom. Romeo sighed, something he had been doing a lot that night.

"Just be patient. She'll come back." Mark told him. He smiled at his friend, hopefully. Seriously when were those two actually going to straighten things out and get together already?

"I know. It just gives me more time to be nervous," Romeo admitted. He realized what he said and tried to recover. "I mean I'm not nervous. Pfft, I'm cool. I don't get nervous." Romeo put his cocky and cool act on. Mark rolled his eyes. Romeo mentally face palmed for what he had said.

It was only a couple minutes later that Julie came back. She leaned over to see how well Mark was doing at the game he was playing. It was surprisingly well since he had barely been paying attention.

Romeo leaned up against the wall, trying to appear smooth and confident. Julie didn't even look at him.

"So you're already to level twelve? I'm impressed. And you've got a pretty high score. Eric's going to be ticked." Julie commented. Mark laughed before remembering Romeo. He nodded his head in a jerky fashion as if to say 'Go for it'.

Romeo coughed and straightened up. Julie turned towards him at this. Her blue eyes shone with curiosity and suspicion, directed at him. Romeo ran a hand through his messy hair and went for it.

"So uh, Julie, do you maybe want to dance?" Romeo asked.

Juliet thought about it before smiling softly. "Sure why not."

Romeo let out a small sigh of relief before stiffening up once more.

"Wait it was clear that I meant with me, right?"

Julie nodded, now grinning broadly and trying to hold back laughter. Romeo let out his breath.

"Good timing too. It seems like this song was just about to end." Juliet commented just as the last few notes to Taylor Swift's Love Story played and finished off the song.

The two made their way to the middle of the dance floor. Anthony and Ivy both grinned as they saw their best friends decide to dance with each other. Eric appeared slightly shocked, but not unhappy. He turned his attention back to his dance partner after a quick glance at his friends. Mark was glad for the two but it was only one dance. That doesn't have to mean much... But it can. It could be a stepping stone to something more.

Juliet wrapped her arms around Romeo's neck and he held her waist. The next song began to play.

When I was younger I saw my daddy cry
And curse at the wind.
He broke his own heart and I watched
As he tried to reassemble it.

The two swayed to the song and Romeo leaned down to whispered something in Juliet's ear.

"You look beautiful by the way." He whispered almost brushing up against her ear. Julie's face grew red.

"You look pretty good too." She remarked about Romeo's red button up shirt and black dress pants.

"Not as good as you though." Romeo commented.

And my momma swore
That she would never let herself forget.
And that was the day that I promised
I'd never sing of love if it does not exist.

"So are you having fun at the dance?" Romeo asked. Julie nodded.

"Now I am." She smiled. She was honestly having fun with Romeo. He was fun to be around. He was sweet, goofy, charming... Juliet's heart beat sped up as her thoughts took over. She had to remind herself that she did not like Cameron like that. It was just the stupid environment mixed with the stupid love song.

But darling,
You are the only exception.
You are the only exception.
You are the only exception.
You are the only exception.

Who was she kidding? It wasn't the song and it wasn't the location. At least she couldn't completely blame those things.

Maybe I know somewhere deep in my soul
That love never lasts.
And we've got to find other ways to make it alone.
Or keep a straight face.

Romeo smiled as he and Julie danced. She was having fun, he knew it, but she also appeared slightly conflicted. Something was going on in her head, a battle of denial was raging on.

"Juliet," He broke her out of her thoughts. "Don't think too hard. Just dance. Live in the moment."

And I've always lived like this
Keeping a comfortable distance.
And up until now I have sworn to myself
That I'm content with loneliness.

Juliet gave in to her friend's words. She would stop thinking so deeply about love and life right now. She would just dance, like Romeo said. Live in the moment.

Because none of it was ever worth the risk.

Juliet gazed into Romeo's eyes, blue meeting green. The two seemed to be in sync. Their heartbeats were racing at the same pace, their breathing matched, and their eyes were locked on each other.

Well you are the only exception.
You are the only exception.
You are the only exception.
You are the only exception.

The two just stayed like that, swaying to the beat, not looking away, not changing the pace.

I've got a tight grip on reality,
But I can't let go of what's in front of me here.
I know you're leaving in the morning when you wake up.
Leave me with some kind of proof it's not a dream.
Oh-oh-oh-ohhh.

Juliet closed her eyes, her body taking control. She wasn't overthinking it. She wasn't truly thinking about it at all. Juliet's eyelids fluttered closed and she leaned into Romeo.

You are the only exception.
You are the only exception.
You are the only exception.
You are the only exception.

Romeo saw this and his eyes widened. It was unmistakable. Julie wanted him to kiss her. His heartbeat quickened.

Romeo leaned down slightly so he was closer to her. He cupped her face with his hands, brushing away the few wavy locks of hair that framed her face. She didn't pull back. Romeo took that as a sign of confirmation.

You are the only exception.
You are the only exception.
You are the only exception.
You are the only exception.

As he leaned into kiss her he noticed something he had never seen before. He had brushed over a thin but noticeable scar on Juliet's cheek. It was between her ear and cheek, a place that was normally covered by hair. He had never realized it before but she had always been very careful about keeping that area on her face covered by her hair.

He squinted his eyes at it. How had she gotten it. Kissing her was momentarily forgotten.

And I'm on my way to believing.

Juliet's eyes fluttered open. For a moment they just stared at each other. Then she realized what Romeo was looking at.

Just like that the spell was broken.

Oh, and I'm on my way to believing.

Julie broke apart from Romeo and dashed from the dance. Romeo was left standing there full of worry and confusion. He stood there shocked for a moment before dashing after her.
